This restaurant is unassuming from the outside, but has a modern and inviting atmosphere on the inside. The menu has some rather creative dishes featuring local ingredients and an emphasis on sustainability. Came here for brunch, and the group got a couple of appetizers to share plus individual entrées. Definitely wasn't expecting to find beignets in this part of the country, but here it was and it was delicious -- exceptionally light and fluffy! The creamy nettle and olive dip had a richness and depth that balanced out the fresh vegetables. And the egg of the French omelette was true to its name.

Great experience here! Felt like I was in an episode of Top Chef or something trying their awesome, inventive dishes and tasty mocktails! Parsnip fritters; rich and delicious shrimp and grits with iberico ham; sable fish in a aromatic moat of savory caramelized onion broth; a beautiful salad with tahini dressing, crispy chickpeas, and lots of crisp radiccio; and a super interesting dessert with hay ice cream! Noticed that in the menu they have gluten free and vegan options. The service was top notch! We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. During my meal my napkin fell off my lap onto the floor and before I even noticed our server came over and with a sweet smile discreetly put a new one in the table and scooped the dropped one off the floor. I have a food allergy and they were very accommodating and understanding. I came for the fancy food, but I will return because of the hospitality.

We’d heard good comments about Chicory and made it to brunch. Andy welcomed us in we were soon gazing in anticipation at the southern themed offerings. We’re both from the south, not that we’re experts on southern cuisine, but we do know our biscuits, so we opted for the breakfast sandwich, which was so good. The house bacon is so flavorful, and c’mon, you gotta have pimento cheese! I went with grits and they were nice and thick without going all lumpy. Give it a go, and we’ll be back!

One of the best meals I’ve had out in years. We were in Olympia for a concert down from seattle and this place puts any of the nice restaurants we go to in seattle to shame. For the price the portions are actually generous! cocktails are affordable, delicious and inventive. This place is operating on a level I really didn’t even know was possible in current restaurant culture. You’ll leave happy, full, and wanting to go back asap.

We ordered our meal carry out/curb side. I was so excited to try this place because of all the hype. However, I really didn't love it. We ordered several things off of the menu. The pulled pork sandwich was mediocre. The pulled pork was kind of bland and the bread average. I ordered the chicken sandwich but replaced the chicken with tofu. I didn't even finish it. It was not pretty to look at and was too salty? Just wasn't for me. I am a vegetarian and I like vegetables! I feel like it could have been jazzed up to look better and included more color. We also ordered the hushpuppies. Again, average. The coleslaw my family loved and the beans were excellent. We tried the oatmeal cookie for desert and it was pretty good. Overall, I don't think I would go back. I expected a lot more for the caliber of dining being offered.

I had brunch at Chicory and I was impressed. I really enjoyed the food and the vibe of the restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others and I plan on returning. It will be hard not to get the same thing because I liked it so much. I also had a mimosa that was great!

Chicory might be the best restaurant in Olympia. It's unexpected and unpretentious which lend to its appeal but result in a low profile that I'm always hoping doesn't diminish their success. Love the bar styling and bathroom wallpaper heavy with gold accents, and they have what feels like an excellent secret record collection. I appreciate the servers state aloud the 20% gratuity. Since the gratuity addition is standard, I'd love to see them tack it on the menu pricing and brag about paying their employees and refusing tips. The menu rotates seasonally, ingredients are fresh, dishes are unique and flavorful, all making it fun to stop by and try something new. A long time ago I used to grab an oatmeal cream pie to nibble while walking downtown errends-yum! Overall I recommend dinner over brunch, in large part because the brunch menu is bread heavy - personal preference. Today's brunch we tried the shrimp and grits, parsnip fritters with chili yogurt, beignets with cranberry-pistachio-persimmon(?) compote, sunchoke salad, coleslaw, and the gin-absinthe cocktail. Grits were super fluffy and filling and the shrimp and leek topping was delicious. Parsnip fritters had an excellent texture, smooth, soft and creamy on the inside, perfectly crisp on the outside. The chili yogurt was good with it. Overall not terribly flavorful, but the texture kept us grabbing more. Beignets were dense rather than airy, well cooked, good flavor, and the fruit spread was fresh fall and wonderful, my favorite part, but mostly because I only like a bit of bread. I passed on the cookie crumbles. The sunchoke salad was the least exciting but was beautiful and felt like eating sunflowers in an assortment of textures, which was fun. I love coleslaw so was curious about theirs. It was good, creamy but not overdressed. Not terribly unique. Cocktail was good with flavors of licorice and lime and nicely formed egg white, beautiful presentation. Historical favorites: On the current menu, delicious egg bake with very good bread, nice spice from the harissa, and wonderful squash, paired with roasted carrots which are excellent, nice smoke, sauce, and I LOVE the crunchy buckwheat. Had my first ever negroni here last summer and have been chasing the flavor since. Had dinner with friends recently and shared family style. The three of us loved each of the 5 dishes we split and the consensus on which was the favorite was "yes". Roasted cauliflower heavy on the beets, rye pasta with braised beef, ahi tartare, beef carpaccio, and chocolate pavlova. The carpaccio was sliced a little thick which I sympathize with cuz that's tricky, but it was so good. And eat the pasta attentively or the thinly sliced beef gets lost. The squash mousse served with the pavlova is wonderful with excellent texture, not too sweet, and not too rich. The sablefish is oily, by nature not preparation, and it might be the only dish I wouldn't recommend. The greens it was served with cut the oiliness pretty well. The smoked potatoes are great. The addition of crisp celery and horseradish are very nice. Finally, they make a great mocktail.

I have eaten here several times, for dinner and brunch and the food is always excellent. This is my favorite restaurant in Olympia. They have excellent service and atmosphere. The owner and head chef won Chopped on the Food Network. I would highly recommend anything on the menu that rotates seasonally.

A great little spot. The seasonal tempura vegetables were awesome (especially the squash blossom). The decor was cute, facilities were clean and you don’t have to tip with the 20% added gratuity ensuring their employees earn a living wage. I love restaurants that source their food locally and that sourcing shows in the quality of food we were served.

Went for brunch on a very cold January afternoon. We ordered brunch cocktails, beignets, the chicken and waffles and the breakfast sandwich. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious with incredible flavor profiles - and the fluffiest grits I’ve ever had! The restaurant is beautiful, clean and well lit. Service was very friendly and fast for the most part, I only knocked one star off because it did take us awhile to get the bill and it wasn’t very busy at the time. Otherwise an exceptional experience and we will be returning/recommending to friends and family!

Lovely brunch place. The food is exceptional - I loved the French omelette and my boyfriend enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. The beignet with fruit jam is a nice dessert.

We are so fortunate to have the culinary marvel, Chicory in our area. My husband and I have fallen in gustatory love with this charming restaurant. Haven’t tried it yet? Get ready for a treat! The sheer talent of the chef is amazing! She can make cauliflower, beets, and squash taste like heaven! The meal we had there last week with our neighbors was the best meal of any restaurant we’ve visited in years! The staff is always friendly and attentive. We will be celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday there in a few weeks…so excited to see what’s on the ever changing menu!

Truly excellent, and arguably one of the best restaurants in Olympia. I had the shrimp and grits and they were delicious, creamy, and had a well balanced flavor. The shrimp were beautifully cooked.

Chicory is such a fantastic restaurant! Every item is so thoughtfully prepared and executed. Elise and the whole team are just amazing people. Some of my favorite dishes are their vegetarian options, but the chicken sandwich is definitely my favorite!

Phenomenal little restaurant. Excellent selection of cocktails. Was incredibly impressed by the duck boudin and beignets (like café du monde quality). I’m fairly certain there’s not a bad option on the menu. Highly recommend this spot. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Glad we found this amazing farm-to-table restaurant. All the vegetables are cooked very well. Roasted asparagus is a must-try seasonal dish. Everything on the table are fresh, well-balanced, and flavorful. The service is friendly and gives you the right amount of attention. Great spot for hangout, date night or out-of-town guests. We’ll definitely check in this place again.

I sweat more from the lack of A/C than I did on the greasy and flavor lacking hot chicken. It was also repulsive to hear the "we've added the 20 percent charge to your bill" speech after hearing it the last twenty minutes from other tables. $25 for a chicken sandwich light on flavor and a coke hurt. I requested spicy and I wasn't feeling it, just the grease and warm atmosphere from lack of air circulation.

Some of the best food I've tasted in olympia! The staff is absolutely incredible. The dirty rice is amazing. I will 100000000% be back! The decor is very cute as well.

Everything I've had here is excellent and imaginative. The staff is friendly, the decor fits a fancy night out and is moody and stylish. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits, the mussels, and cocktails. A little more pricey but if you value novelty it's worth it to try something new that won't disappoint. Their desserts may seem basic but are executed with a lot of skill, so don't let the titles fool you into thinking,"been there done that." The chocolate pudding, the whoopie pies - these are what desserts dream of becoming when they grow up, so you'll want to get them. Probably not a great venue for kids, but they treated ours incredibly well over a two hour dinner with some serious squirrels, all the way down to the mocktails and adjusting the menu to their tastes. It was a real testament to their hospitality. Vegan options were available and fun!

Walked in, and the person at the counter asked, "How can I help you?", maybe me but an odd question to ask someone at a restraunt. It was fairly cold while we were inside and colder every time the door opened. At the greeting counter, there is a bright light that was distracting the whole time. The service was good and the staff were friendly. We started with the whipped rocatta toast, and it was delicious (got it without anchovies). We ordered shrimp & grits and osso buccoto to share. We both loved the shrimp and grits (it was a little spicy). The osso bucco was not as good. The meat was fatty, gristle, and seemed overcooked or not enough liquid while braising. I could be wrong, but I was expecting braised beef to be fork tender. Aldo, don't expect a vegetable with it. As others have mentioned, there is a 20% gratuity added into the bill before you pay. It's "split amongst the staff." That's a service fee, not a gratuity imo (there is still a line for a "tip" on the receipt). Overall, it was a good experience, just not my cup of tea.

We visited Chicory with friends during our recent vacation to the PNW. I found the restaurant on Google and thought it looked like a good place to explore. Boy, we're we in for a treat! From the moment the six of us arrived we were greeted like family. The bartender was sweet, attentive and funny, plus made some amazing cocktails for our group. But that was just the beginning. The appetizers we ordered were generous and out of this world (chicken liver mouse, salmon tartar and tempura vegetables). For dinner we had duck, pork, shrimp & grits and the chicken sandwich. We all had to try each other's meals because they were so good! For desert we had the cornbread pound cake, strawberry shortcake and bread pudding. We left full and happy. The team at Chicory is top notch and rivals any place in the "big" cities to which I have traveled. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Such a cozy, comfortable inviting place! I will return every time I'm back in the area and our friends that live here will make this a staple in their restaurant rotation.

Excellent, seasonal food. My partner and I were visiting from out of town and looking for somewhere special to stop and get lunch - this was it! I could tell the menu was small and carefully crafted - everything looked delicious. Not to mention the friendly service. Definitely worth visiting this gem again.

Fresh, delicious and innovative. The lamb special was pure heaven. Incredibly impressed by the beet galette, some of the best pastry and creamy smoky goat cheese! Natural wines pair perfectly with the food. Ideal spot to come with friends and share a special dinner together

Tasty New Orleans style food! We got the Gumbo and Chicken burger - both tasty. Braised greens were quite salty, but tasted good. Decor was beautiful and service friendly. They add a 20% to all bills, so no tip needed.

Went to Chicory for the first time on Saturday at 3pm. Not exactly lunch or dinner time but they were open and looked well attended. The menu looked interesting and the waiter was very helpful in navigating the gluten free items. We both had a delicious cocktail and the food was good. Ambiance was nice and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Best part is the prices were reasonable…. Desert was good too!
