I
have
been
a
member
since
1989...so
call
me
one
of
the
old
timers.
I
have
been
involved
in
most
aspects
of
the
club’s
social
programs
and
marina
operations
and
seen
it
all.
Great
effort
has
been
made
to
make
the
club
a
certified
Clean
Green
Marina;
constantly
up-dating
facilities,
docks,
the
club
house
and
supporting
facilities
to
meet
the
ever-changing
regulations
as
well
as
social
preferences.
I
have
found
fellow
members
amazingly
helpful
with
personal
boating
projects,
cruising
adventures
and
supporting
the
broader
community.
At
the
same
time,
fellow
members
are
mindful
of
my
idiosyncrasies.
As
our
current
Commodore
said,
“We
are
not
a
Club
of
self-centered
over-privileged
people.
We
are
a
group
of
people
who
enjoy
boating,
having
fun
and
helping
others.”
Mostly
we
are
volunteers.
We
do
have
a
care
taker
who
watches
all
the
facility
and
provides
security.
Everything
else
is
done
by
volunteers.
I
like
that
I
have
a
say
in
what
happens.
Check
out
our
Bylaws
that
encourage
all
of
us
to
participate
and
recognizes
everyone’s
participation
through
a
community
service
program.
The
club
has
a
full
service
“Main
Station”
and
“Out-Station.”
What
a
pleasure
it
is
to
boat
to
our
“Island
Home”
which
is
only
several
hours
way
for
a
quiet
week
end
or
rousing
club
event.
I
am
also
pleased
that
the
Olympia
Yacht
Club
has
a
modest
community
grant
program.
It
supports
community
organizations
that
are
also
interested
in
clean
water
and
water
orientated
youth
sports.
