We came here because of the queues outside and we were not disappointed. The service was friendly and quick. Seated in no time at all. Such a big menu and nice to be in a proper cafe food place. We were greedy and ordered the mushrooms and the cheesy garlic soda bread to start with and then a beef and a chicken burger. I had the mushrooms and chicken burger. It’s been ages since I’ve eaten breaded mushrooms and these were excellent. Hot. Crunchy and juicy. Great garlic Mayo too. The chicken burger was unusual because it was battered and not breaded. I loved this. They didn’t last very long at all. Washed down with a bananas milkshake that reminded us of being kids again!

I really liked having breakfast here, the vegan menu is HUGE and I really appreciate that. Staff were friendly and it was cosy. The portions were really generous for the cost. However, I'm not sure if I would necessarily come back for the flavour alone as the vegan fry elements were a bit one dimensional, same as well for the enormous milkshake (wouldn't order it again tbh). But it was filling the gap of "vegan fry up" and it was very reasonably priced and hot, the coffee was excellent too.

Absolutely brilliant place. Food is outstanding and so many choices. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Went back twice and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Belfast.

Complete shambles. Ask for a bumper fry and asked for 2 items to change two items for black pudding which they are happy enough to do so for an extra price but this is where they get you... change two items and they will give u 1 replacement not two... It was like they cooked the whole thing in the microwave. Not even remotely warm. And they can't even cook bacon and they over cooked the eggs to the extent that they are burnt! Wouldn't go nesr this place again or even feed it to a homeless person that rolled up castle street

We tried another place yesterday which was pretty awful, so was had high hopes for this place given the positive reviews and was not disappointed. Plenty of portions, huge menu selection even with dedicated vegitarian and vegan options which I was not expecting to see. The service was prompt and the host very polite. Great price for the the portions you get and the food is not greasy. Couldn't ask for a better start to the day.

The food was awesome specially I love the veg fry, chicken wings and pancakes. The stuffs were so friendly and provided good services. They offer delicious breakfast and others. Just one toilets for huge number of customers was a bit worry. The toilet was not good.

It was just OK, coffee was good, plates were cold and there was exactly 6 mushrooms on the plate. Eggs were cooked well but the toast was cold also. No Covid checks, but the place was that packed if omicron was in the space, everyone would have got it. Like this restaurant, will give it one more chance

Maggie May's is a culinary haven in Northern Ireland that left me utterly impressed during my visit. As an American exploring the local food scene, I found this gem to be a delightful mix of tradition and innovation. The menu, a fusion of local flavors and global influences, offered a culinary journey that was both adventurous and comforting. The diverse range of dishes showcased the richness of Northern Irish cuisine, and each bite was a testament to the skillful preparation and attention to detail in the kitchen. From hearty stews to mouthwatering seafood, Maggie May's truly encapsulates the essence of the region's gastronomic tapestry. Equally commendable was the impeccable service provided by the staff. They exuded warmth and hospitality, making me feel not just like a customer, but a welcomed guest. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations added a personal touch to the dining experience, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the meal. The ambiance of Maggie May's was another highlight. The cozy yet vibrant atmosphere created the perfect setting for savoring the delicious fare. Whether it was the charming decor or the inviting aroma wafting from the kitchen, every element contributed to a memorable dining outing. In summary, Maggie May's deserves a resounding five stars for both its exceptional food and stellar service. It's a must-visit for anyone eager to explore the culinary wonders of Northern Ireland, and my experience here will undoubtedly be a highlight of my trip.

Visited this cafe a number of times whilst on a course in Belfast. Very handy if you're arriving on train from botanic. They've quite an extensive menu with a good selection for breakfast. It has a homely local feel yet attracts a wide variety of clientele including tourists. This is definitely a place for those who want wholesome cafe food.

Good wholesome home-style faire at this hugely popular Belfast establishment. Very attentive staff. Varied menu. Outside covered seating excellent for people watching and provides shelter from our notoriously unpredictable weather.

The milkshakes were amazing, i had a banana one and my partner had the Kinder Kraze milkshake. Both were very lovely and not too expensive or sickly either. I also had the biscoff pancake arrangement and my partner had the regular pancake stack both were very lovely and i highly recommend. Lovely little place with cool decor and the staff were very nice and attentive and provided fast service. Highly recommend for brunch or breakfast.

The fry is great, but the restaurant on Botanic Ave has windows at the front which they insist on leaving open and as such all the smoke from normal and recreational cigarettes flows in around you while you are trying to eat. Surprised the council haven't been up. But the fry has always been v good when I've been in. Best in Belfast to be fair.

Liked this place a lot. Great food and wide choice. Pretty big portions. Waitress was really helpful and allowed my friend to just choose items he wanted instead of straight of menu. Def recommend

Every time I take my daughter here we have a great experience. The staff are very down to earth and friendly. Their milkshakes are worth going for alone. The chicken curry is amazing and the chilli bowl...wow! Used to go here when I was out on the town years ago so it's a long lasting establishment for a reason. You won't be disappointed

Really nice pancakes. 30 minute wait for food and a staff member was a tad bit rude. Other than that good food and reasonably priced. BYOB if you like wine or beer

Stopped here for breakfast on a weekday. Menu is very large with a huge selection with vegetarian and vegan options. Food was pretty good and prices were more than fair. Staff was very friendly. Would recommend for a nice sit down breakfast joint especially if you have dietary restrictions.

We were shown to a seat straight away and were served quickly. Food was great and portion sizes are big but with reasonable prices.

Was pretty nice. Had a steak sandwich which was good. Had garlic chips which were good but quite a lot of smaller crispier chips. Overall id recommend eating here.

The staff is lovely and friendly. I saw the reviews were quite good so I rang and booked a table for 4. Didn't read the menu so I was a bit disappointed they didn't do steak. I had the lasagne but never ate it as it was quite dry. My son loved his milkshake and they seemed popular while we were there as many people came and left with 1. Still a nice place to eat and not to dear at all

So ordered the Irish breakfast. Most of the food was just about warm and the beans cold. Sent back and within a few minutes a full replacement breakfast was served. Beans served hot and the rest just the same as before. "warm" Didn't have the nerve to complain again, so just persevered. Will not visit again though. Don't quite understand how an experienced and well established business can get it so wrong. Is it really that difficult to serve up HOT food. Such a shame really as the staff are lovely and the atmosphere fabulous, great background music too.

Cosy and busy cafe. Good service. The family enjoyed a cowboy supper, lasagne, vegetarian fry up, burger and cheesy Bolognese chips. The girls loved their milkshakes. Would come again.

Super cute place with a nice relaxed atmosphere. I'd even say homey. I had a vanilla steamer which was lovely and a drink I used to only be able to get at Starbucks, my partner had a raspberry coconut cake with warm custard which was delicious and visually beautiful, and I have the loaded nachos with added chili. A bit expensive for the cake but the nachos were a huge portion even though it was a starter. Delicious, straightforward food.

Wow, what a quaint little place, set in the Queens University quarter. A very extensive breakfast menu for all requirements. Staff were helpful making good suggestions. I can recommend the big fry & eggs anyway with extras.

This is for the Botanic location... The booths must have been made in Victorian times when people were half the size. I nearly broke my kneecaps on the table. Which is ironic because if you ate here a lot you soon wouldn't fit in the booths at all... The food is ultimate greasy spoon. Visited here a lot in my student days because it was cheap and you went home stuffed. Like everywhere, it's getting more expensive and the portion sizes are slowly reducing but it's a risky little game for a place that is renowned for its cheap slap up meals and cutlery/glasses that may or may not still have someone else's lipstick on them. Despite that, the food does taste good. If you're really hungry and just want a big feed it's a good choice. I go here for the milkshakes which are out of this world. Last time I visited there was a drunk guy leaning through the door singing a song about a menstruating woman. Eventually a member of staff casually herded him away in a manner I felt showed he'd had quite a bit of practice with this particular task. Anyway, that's Maggie May's... There's pros and cons but if they can manage avoiding price hikes we'll all continue to put up with the cons because the pros are great.
