Very disappointed in care provided. Nursing seems sorely under staffed. Although they frequently have cell phone in hand. Communication between staff (doctors and nursing staff)is lacking. Communication of providers and patients is insufficient. Facility is dirty dusty and run down. And should we talk about HIPPA....nothing to talk about....it doesn't exist there. Hep locks do not get flushed even after several days....negligent much? Showers/bed baths not offered to patient even after 3 days in-house. Are they trying for some nosocomial infections?

Today I went to Nebraska medical center and the eye clinic. The people that are very friendly and nice it's clean has three levels. The doctor I seen seem very knowledgeable and was very concerned with my eye condition it was funny when we first pulled up and parked in the first row there was a broom next to the handicap sign made me laugh remind me of handicap which parking. Someone probably had clean snow off their car with the broom and left it there.

In the business of making money first and helping second. Unprofessional, rude. Basically my visit was $3,245 for absolutely nothing. They only know how to charge bills but not very skilled/knowledgeable staff. Waiting in the ER room for 2 hours only to be laughed at by the staff because I was in severe pain.

This was literally the worst experience. When you’re in pain and need help. The walk in process is checking in for jail essentially. Then you cannot have family with you. The wait time is whenever they feel the need. I asked for a pillow for under my back and I was an inconvenience to the staff. I guess if I become a paraplegic I can thank them.

Went to the emergency room on Thanksgiving day. (11/24/2022) Was a horrible experience from the time I walked in. I was in excruciating pain and was on one knee during the intake process. There was no concern for the obvious pain I was in and was offered no assistance such as aid in walking or even a wheelchair. Once my name was called I was offered no assistance or accommodation to make it to the patient room. I was freezing cold and had to request a blanket. I had bouts of vomiting and wasn’t offered a vomit bag until I threw up in ‘their’ sink. I heard about this issue with vomiting in the sink the rest of the night when a PA came in the room or when I was escorted to the CT scan. The first blanket I was given was wet with sweat from the pain I was in. I pushed the call button requesting another one. Eventually when I arrived for my CT scan I was given one. All the while you could hear the nurses and PA’s outside my room having a great time. This emergency room doesn’t care one bit about patient care especially if you don’t have insurance. My CT scan showed a large colonic stool burden and diverticulosis without evidence of diverticulitis. Despite this, I was released without any concern for a blocked colon which can often be fatal and no antibiotics prescribed. Instead I was sent home to lay in bed for 2 straight days with the most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt. I slept under 8 blankets because I was so cold and was sweating profusely due to the extreme pain I was in. I’ll NEVER use UNMC again! They show a huge lack of concern for their patients especially if you’re uninsured. I’m sure if I had insurance I would have been kept overnight for observation due to the stool burden. At minimum, I would have been released with a prescription for some type of pain medication and antibiotics. Then they immediately bill me $3800!!! What type of care did I receive for this outrageous amount of money??? If you have a choice then stay away from UNMC! Unless you have insurance then I’m guessing you’ll be taken care! Pathetic people with a lack of concern for the patient. It’s all about that bottom dollar!!!

Referral to AHP for resperatory needs is a joke. They have no use for actual customers whatsoever. Will not work with customers without a specific Dr’s script right in front if them. UNMC’s work with this company should be terminated - read their reviews. UNMC mandates yearly screening to ensure prober use of devices, but dors NOT share with their health care representatives. How are you supposed to get urgent repairs done? We could wait a year and have PA Eichoff call them personallt, but how anout repairs in the mean time. Customer/Patient service is definitely a thing of ghe past.

The level care and compassion in this facility is FAR beyond Exceptional! ICU Nurses Stephanie and Alexis are Far beyond professional! All the doctors and nurses are very caring and compassionate. Thank you for saving my SON! We had entire teams in the room discussing care and plans. From Surgeons to Radiology to Stroke to PT! Never had this level of care in any other hospital or state for that matter! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Worst experience ever no regard for your pain what so ever..the student who "assessed" me for a lump in my breast literally used one finger to poke my sternum (not breast) and request a breathing treatment. Im still concwrned for my life due to this unknown lump wasnt given any prescriptions for the pain they really do NOT care...and i wouldnt give them 1 star...definitly get a second opinion.

No one wears masks here because they don't care if you live or die. If you speak up about it you'll be retaliated against, insulted and humiliated and have your character attacked. It's corrupt from the top down. No one should have to endure this place, many have permanently chosen not too... they rid themselves of the pain this place has given them and others.

This review is for emergency department front staff. I've unfortunately visited this emergency three times in the last week. There are covid policies in place for waiting family members. I feel like the policy is implemented in a way that can make a person feel as though they are not important to a family members care. They tell you the waiting area is not for waiting and that only one family member can wait until the patient is in the emergency department area being seen. I have noticed on my visits that they will pick and choose who is able to wait with multiple people not by condition, but by what seems to be possible cooperative people. If a person is loud and playing music or even dancing that has on multiple occasions been okay. If you seem like a cooperative individual they will swarm and attack to make sure you do as they say. It's an off-putting feeling. I have used this hospital for 40 years and have watched the decline in service for a few years at appointments I have, at clinics and even hospital. This is supposed to be a first class facility. They should act like it.

Just want to say thank you to all the nurses in the trauma ICU sections. They were very kind to us, especially to my wife Sonia. Very heartwarming, loving. Always checking up on us. God bless you to the whole nursing team, American team and hang in there. I know health care is draining and I know you're tired and underpaid but you're doing a good thing and know that God loves you for it

The billing department has mush for brains… They lie about your insurance and they will overcharge you, so watch your billing carefully and make sure to call your insurance!! My insurance keeps telling me they will cover something that UMC says they’re not going to bargain with my insurance on… UMC agreed they owe me $400 on Friday and then three days later they told me they don’t owe me anything because after some digging they realize they’re not gonna “bargain” with my insurance and just charge me!! They are fraud, and I know too many people who have told me the same thing with UNMC!!! Go to Creighton CHI Omaha if you want better care!!!!! Also, their insurance department sucks too as they will tell you your insurance is pending months and months on medication approval when really it’s been approved months ago (call your insurance and ask questions, don’t trust UNMC). They are just too lazy to actually look into it

If I could’ve gave this hospital ZERO STARS I would have. The staff especially on the labor and delivery floor(4) are CARELESS. I literally heard a nurse say “some babies I would work harder on and other I would not”. Then the NICU only had one nurse on the floor and a baby was crying for 10/15 minutes in the NICU, so sad and sickening!

A close relative was on the 8th floor(heart). The lead nurse (Amy) for this person was absolutely rude to members of the family! I suggest going elsewhere for any medical needs!!

Writing a review for UNMC is an emotional task for me because they have been there for my mom and family through life, sickness, recovery, health, and even death. In all they've been there for they did right, without judgement or bias, and with care, hope, and support. I live in Kansas, but I know this hospital and all the towers better than some streets near my home. I've interacted with many specialty doctors, nurses, techs, housekeeping staff, ER, security team members, and so many others. We've experienced teams in Kidney Transplant, Wound Care, Cardiovascular, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Derm, Cancer Center, and the Comfort Care Team. I can tell you that these teams are here because they love what they do. If you're considering UNMC as a new place to care for your needs I would do so without hesitation. When my mom moved they were so helpful in her transition to Kansas. Without them we'd be lost. We will miss each of her teams, their knowledge, and their care. It was so hard to leave.

Front desk employee Brooke at emergency was very rude and short over the phone then hung up on me. After calling back again she was again the receptionist was short and rude over the phone AGAIN and when we requested assistance with our lab tests/results she advised she’s not able to assist with the test results, we proceeded to ask if there was someone available who could she then immediately placed us on hold without telling us and when she returned to the line she was sighing and condescending. This is a healthcare facility there’s no room for someone with such poor customer service skills or lacking such empathy to be manning the phone.

Anything I have had to do at Nebraska Medicine has been a wonderful experience. Clinical staff, doctors, administration staff have all treated me with respect each and every time I have been there.

Took 8hrs to get admitted from ER department. Patient was admitted only after family left to grab him food since he was given order he could eat and kept asking for something to atleast drink. When he was admitted, nurses were rude. Family visited and patient and room were dirty. During visit....nurses did not once check in. With patient getting lactose.... he was not taken care of with poop still on bottom and sheets dirty. He was transferred into the Lied transplant center. Lead Nurse Emily on 7th floor was extremely rude and neglectful. Was told a minimum of 3x to not give patient a medication the doctor said she would take off and never did. Emily waited til family was gone and gave patient medication she was told many times to not give patient then became rude about going against order. Worst care ever recieved and will not be returning again. This hospital has gone downhill with who is hired.

EDIT: Communication has been much improved. It still takes around 3 days, and 5 ~ 6 phone calls for my quarterly medication to be renewed, but the nursing staff has taken the time to best assist. After a full week of attempts to reach my doctor and nursing staff for a prescription refill with no return in communication, I am now missing doses. Should change their slogan to 'Lack of Care. Lack of Medicine.'

They are caring for my family member and have done a remarkable job. The nurses and staff go above and beyond in the covid unit. A+ to them.

My stay was due to a traumatic medical emergency. Let me the front desk in er needs some retraining on compassion or something very rude!!! Er was rushed but due to life-threatening that is understood but once I got to ICU nothing but the best compassionate treatment everyday and I got to say goodbye to most of them. We dont respect nurses, techs and staff nearly as much as we should!
