I
love
this
place
however
I
was
just
asked
to
leave
because
I
require
a
service
animal
due
to
my
disability.
Two
waitresses
wouldn’t
serve
us
and
asked
us
to
leave
because
last
week
the
health
department
said
dogs
aren’t
allowed
on
the
patio.
I
explained
he
was
working
and
she
said
unless
I
can
prove
it
I
had
to
leave.
I
tried
to
explain
the
services
he’s
trained
to
perform
but
they
didn’t
care.
Someone
may
need
to
explain
to
the
staff
ADA
regulations.
Q7.
What
questions
can
a
covered
entity's
employees
ask
to
determine
if
a
dog
is
a
service
animal?
A.
In
situations
where
it
is
not
obvious
that
the
dog
is
a
service
animal,
staff
may
ask
only
two
specific
questions:
(1)
is
the
dog
a
service
animal
required
because
of
a
disability?
and
(2)
what
work
or
task
has
the
dog
been
trained
to
perform?
Staff
are
not
allowed
to
request
any
documentation
for
the
dog,
require
that
the
dog
demonstrate
its
task,
or
inquire
about
the
nature
of
the
person's
disability.
Q8.
Do
service
animals
have
to
wear
a
vest
or
patch
or
special
harness
identifying
them
as
service
animals?
A.
No.
The
ADA
does
not
require
service
animals
to
wear
a
vest,
ID
tag,
or
specific
harness.

Update:
I
drove
my
service
animal
home
and
returned
to
support
the
artist
playing
tonight.
I
arrived
back
at
8:40
pm.
It
is
9:15
and
the
waitress
still
won’t
serve
us.
She
has
served
all
the
tables
surrounding
us
but
ours.
I’ve
been
in
some
situations
where
staff
just
didn’t
understand
ADA
regulations
(I
get
it...
it
can
get
confusing)
but
this
is
the
first
time
I’ve
been
actively
discriminated
against
for
having
a
disability.

Update:
another
customer
noticed
we
had
yet
to
be
seen
so
when
the
server
came
to
her
table,
the
customer
sent
the
server
to
check
on
us.
The
server
said
“do
you
need
something?”
And
I
responded:
May
we
please
have
menus?
She
responded
“what
kind
of
menus
do
you
want?”
I
said:
dinner
please.
She
rolled
her
eyes
and
I
asked
(politely).
Have
I
upset
you?
And
she
responded.
“I’m
not
the
only
server
out
here,
do
you
want
to
talk
to
someone
else?
And
I
said
“I
suppose
I’ll
speak
to
the
manager”
The
manager
was
up
to
date
on
ADA
regulations
and
although
he
did
not
apologize
for
being
sent
home,
he
did
say
he
will
send
another
server
over
and
educate
the
staff
regarding
the
regulations
Our
new
server
Maddie
is
an
absolute
gem
who
is
providing
world
class
customer
service.
Thank
you
so
much
for
treating
me
like
a
person.
