Beautiful and well maintained. Show up at the times of tours. I would highly recommend, taking some time to walk the grounds and see the stable, which has a shop. The size and design is consistent throughout the property with ramparts being used at the entrance as you drive in. There is a lot to see and the tour can take a couple of hours. There are a lot of nice local restaurants near by, so make this a day trip and enjoy.

The tour is about 1.5 hours. It was 34.00 for 2 adults and a 9 year old. We visited on a Sunday. They also do private tours. It's rich in history. Parking on the side street. Has lots of bathrooms. The castle can be used for weddings and parties.

Joslin castle is so beautiful with a rich history. Our tour lasted 2 hours and our guide Gary was wonderful and so full of knowledge.

Absolutely stunning Midwest "castle". I loved the history and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and loved what she was doing. The tour was a lot longer than expected, about 1.5 hours. Well worth the visit. I only wish they had more furniture and we could see the basement, but they use the house for events and functions so I understand it isn't just about touring the house. If you love the history and architecture of the early 1900s, this is definitely a place to stop in Omaha.

It has specific times for visits with info at the door. There were restrooms for tourists only to use within the floors of the castle. Their gift shop is just in development. Tour guide was a great storyteller. Well kept place with people working all over the place.

A gorgeous estate that has been carefully preserved and restored. The 1-2 hour tour is completely worth it & rich with Omaha history. The admission price is super low too!

Tours are limited so read about their tour times before going. Once you arrive you'll be treated to a one hour and forty-five minute tour. Quite extensive, but there is a lot to see at the mansion. I can't recommend this enough. Where else are you going to see Scottish Baronial style nearby?

Such a beautiful place. Offers tours for $10 for adults. Also offers deals with photographers to do photoshoots which is what we did. Gave me a princess photoshoot in the gardens on the grounds and it turned out beautifully.

Rarely open for tours of the inside, unfortunately. But you can still take your kids or dogs (or just yourself, even on a bike) through the gardens to enjoy the outside architecture and nice flowers. Would love if they opened the interior more frequently, thanks!

I was very happy I was able to make it to a tour with one of the knowledgeable docents. The story of the Joslyn family and the building of the grounds is very interesting. The craftsmanship is truly extraordinary. If you enjoy history or architecture you should make a point of taking the tour.

An enchanting house with an interesting story behind it about one of the major families of Omaha. The tour starts with a quick informative video and then a fairly detailed walking tour of the home. We will definitely be back during the summer months to see the landscaping in full bloom. Our guide, Gary, was very knowledgeable and considerate of everyone on the tour needs.

It's an interesting place but I was not clear that this was a tour and that you can't just go in and look around. It probably would have only taken about 30 minutes to look around but the tour is 2 hours which I felt was too long. Interesting history but wish that the tour was quicker and that they just gave you a pamphlet with some of the history so that they didn't talk in the beginning for 30 minutes about the history of the place.

A beautiful castle with so much history! We went on labor day. The tour guides were very knowledgeable ands seemed to throughly enjoy sharing what they know. Many rooms and floors to explore including the gardens outside and the carriage house. The castle has central air and heat. A gift shop is available at the carriage house.

We didn't get to go inside but the grounds are lovely to walk around all the same. Very picturesque and scenic. Great photo op. Highly recommend especially for a guided tour which we will do someday

The docents were great, especially the one who gave our tour! We had a couple young kids on our tour and she made it fun and engaging for everyone. I learned some very interesting things from her. She wasn't pulling my leg! Highly recommend this beautiful and historic place.

Was so excited to visit Joslyn Castle while visiting from Virginia! The tour was informative and the castle was beautiful. My 15 year old daughter was completely enthralled with it, asking so many questions if the tour guide, and he was so sweet!

This beautiful castle has magnificent features and a great history to go along. The tour guide was excellent and gave us history of the family and the castles evolution. $8 for college students. $10 for adults. Well worth every penny. If I had one bit of criticism to give I would like to see prettier tee shirts in the gift shop for purchase.

Very beautiful mansion! Loved the tour! Just did the regular tour but I'd love to see the closed area tour sometime. The mansion is well cared for and the history of the Josyln family was informative. Here's to imagine a wedding there but I'm sure the whole house transforms

We came here over the weekend and took the tour. It was very informative, and the house was immaculate. The tour is very detailed, and you get to learn about the rich history the home has. The Joslyn family was ahead of their time. We started the tour with a video telling some of the history and went on to explore the home. It was a really cool experience, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been or is just passing through the area. Make sure you're 15 minutes early! All in all it was a spectacular experience.

Since my announcement last week regarding the book signing next month, I decided a tour of the Joslyn mansion or castle as it is referred to, would give me a better understanding of the building, grounds, and the history behind the Joslyn Museum. George and Sarah Joslyn, were a young couple under thirty years of age. As natives of Vermont, they were the part of a wave of new entrepreneurs that were looking to achieve their best in life after the completion of the transcontinental railroad. After Georges' first job in a printing firm in Des Moines, IA in 1879, he made smart business decisions and investments that placed him in areas that allowed growth and fortune. On 5.5 acres of land, a Scottish Baronial Architecture Mansion would be a future dream. With the design hand of architect John McDonald and his suspected Scottish ancestry influence, the 35 room, four story house would take 10-11 months of construction and interior design to bring their dream to life. Builders used gorgeous and varied carved woods shipped in from different countries and stained glass for some of the windows. Mosaic tiles for the interior while Kansas Silverdale limestone created the outer building . The mansion, which was referred to as a β€œcastle” by onlookers due to its small turrets and crenellations, is now on the National Register of Historic Places. With the death of her husband George in 1916, Sarah remained a strong influence and contributor to many charities and businesses in Omaha. In 1929, the Joslyn Memorial, a tribute to her husband, became a public cultural institution for the visual and performing arts. Known today as the Joslyn Art Museum, this is considered by many as Sarah’s most important and greatest gift to Omaha, NE.

Wow! What gorgeous history right here in our city. As a military child I had the privilege of living in England, visiting their historical places. I was so blessed I always wish to take my kids one day. Don't overlook this gem my 11 and 12 years old boys loved the tour!!

Beautiful and informative! Most of the castle is still intact, but some modifications have been made by previous tenants that are appreciated, but have taken from the beauty and originality of the upper floors of the building.

Unfortunately, it was closed when I was there but very nicely kept grounds and it was nice to walk around and take a look at the castle from the outside. Worth checking out if you're in Omaha.

We attended the Photography Workshop with Chris Cosmos. I had never been to the castle but I will 100% be going back. The castle is absolutely stunning and we only got to see the first floor tonight. The gardens are another wonderland of beauty. I can't wait to return and learn about the history.

My daughter and I came to the Joslyn Castle and Gardens for the first time for the 2023 Bat release and it was just amazing! the grounds are breathtaking! they are so well kept and there is so much room for tons of people. At this event, they said there were over 1000 people and there was plenty of room. The castle was beautiful and the castle staff was very kind and did a great job with that many people. I can see why so many people chose to get married here!

the castle doesnt have gardens, there are a couple flower beds. we really wanted to see the castle. i got scolded for walking into another room by the guide. the guide took forever in one room discussing every inch of the room. we wanted to walk through and see the castle. my dad couldnt stand for very long without sitting. there should be more chairs on the balcony. there should be chairs for people to sit in the rooms if the guide is going to take so long in each room. we ended up leaving since there was nowhere to sit and the guide was ugly to me for walking in the other room. if there is so much to mention in each room maybe do print out sheets for people to read so people can see the castle. everybody cant stand to extend time hearing about which item in every room is part of a different remodel. ive been to several tours and they spend 5 mins max in a room for guided tours. way too long in one room!!

The castle is a truly unique Omaha treasure. They offer tours of the castle itself with plenty of lovely architecture and historical background. They also host fun local events and are available for reservations. The grounds of the castle are stunning as well and open to the public all day and into the evening. A perfect place for a lunchtime walk in the bird sanctuary or pollinator garden and I believe it is officially an arboretum as well.

This place is just so breathtakingly beautiful. Our Girl Scout troop rented it out for their annual father-daughter dance. It was very expensive but it was worth it because it was such a fancy venue and it made the girls feel like princesses for the night. Both the inside and the outside are just magnificent. I would like to take the tour some day.

Unfortunately the place was close due to covid-19 but we still wanted to take a look from outside. This is a gorgeous castle which I would love to visit someday. We had all the outdoors to ourselves as the place was closed and we enjoyed just admiring this beauty standing outside for about 15 minutes.

We love the castle. We had our wedding there 4th of July 2015!! We've gone and put bird houses up every year on our anniversary but it seems they've been removed now.. that made us a bit sad, but everything is just as beautiful as the year before. It's our favorite spot in Omaha!!

  • 2/5 Jessica E. 3 years ago on Google
We didn't get to go inside because there was only one tour for the entire day, and it was limited to 10 people. We arrived early enough, but there was no option but to wait in the hot sun, surrounded by bees and wasps in the gardens. Meanwhile, all 3 of us ended up being desperate to go to the bathroom, so we had to leave without taking the tour. It would have been nice if an employee had been around to help us, check on us, and to answer our questions about where the handicap accessible entrance was.
