I used to build forts with my buddies and call it “Boys Town”. It was a lot of fun reliving the experience of that build throughout my entire tour. It was a cool fort, too.

Located on the Boys Town campus, the Hall of History is open daily and is free of charge to any and all guests. So many exhibits with such a varied nature, including part of an old Boys Town bus, helps visitors learn about the important history of this vital source of protection, help, and guidance for young boys and girls throughout the U.S. So many celebrities visited the Boys Town campus over the years and their contributions are often on display here including famous signed sports memorabilia and the Oscar won from the Boys Town movie from years ago. Take your time and wander through this incredible tribute to the history of the important institution.

Home of the Worlds Largest Ball of Stamps! It's actually really incredible. If you feel like balling your eyes out visits the museum and listen to the audios. Heartbreaking but also heartwarming!

I have never visited, but I had to check out the pictures because my grandparents on my mom's side met while my grandma was a cook, and my grandpa was a maintenance man there. They married just 21 days after meeting each other.

I read and read and READ about boys town for a long time, falling in love with it's history, and when I was visiting Nebraska I was super excited to go visit this! As soon as I walked in with my nephews/cousins, the lady there said: "Don't touch ANYTHING." I was a little uncomfortable, but after only 5 minutes of walking around and admiring everything, I saw her stalking us. A young cousin was looking at something, and she ran over and whispered into his ear not to touch it. We left only in the middle of the whole thing. My grandmother went back in to talk to her, but I still felt terrible! I would suggest going only if she wasn't there.

Since they changed their mission from an orphanage to dealing with troubled youth, I feel they have lost their direction. They recently sold all of their farmland and the equipment to maintain it. I kind of felt that teaching youngsters how to farm and to use their hands to actually do something was admirable.

Great place to visit if your rolling thru Nebraska and stopping in Omaha. Visit Dowd Chapel and stop and reflect for a moment the wonderful things Father Flanagan was able to do with 5 boys in 1917. Visit the Hall of History it will amaze you the lives changed by this Holy man.
