This location is incredibly dirty. You would expect a platinum level 3 facility would have clean steam rooms, saunas, and equipment, not this place. The steam room smells like a urinal, the new sauna benches are stained black, and the shower drains are clogged with hair. To make matters worse, they took the small towels and cleaning bottles off the floor so you can't clean equipment yourself before you use it. I love going in the morning and seeing the staff sitting at a table, eating doughnuts, while I'm trying to find a towel or an open locker because they are all locked up.

Food counter staff, manager, and front desk staff were interesting today. The girl at the food counter told me there was no way for me to buy my food with my credit card because it had to be on file, but the manager told me I was able to pay for food and drinks with my cc at the front desk! Everyone was just a little abrasive and cold. Not the warm friendly staff I am used to. I paid for my water and the girl at the counter handed me an empty cup then told me to fill it at the water fountain, instead of handing me a cup with water. Usually when I pay for water I expect a cup with water. It’s just the rules of good service. Later I was trying to ask the front desk about classes and waited in line to be helped, but when I got to the front of the line was rudely ignored by front desk girl at 84th & Q. She kept checking people in and when I tried to ask about classes she acted like I was being rude or interrupting her when I had waited to talk to her. It was a shocking experience. One of many poor experiences, do not recommend this gym.

Overall nice gym, but the smoothie bar seems closed a lot or at least every time I try to get one. Why am I paying a premium if I can’t ever get a service/feature I’m paying for? Hope that’s addressed as that would be an issue for me for what I signed for as part of the “platinum” gym experience.

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!! Have been charging me after I was told my account would be closed and now I have to pay off the full balance and nothing they can do!!! I called within time frame never got a call back. Now I’m being penalized for it! I haven’t even used there facilities once!!! Terrible management and ownership!!! I will never recommend this place unless someone wants to be screwed over!!!

There are some pieces of gym equipment like the stationary bikes with backs that need to be repaired or replaced. That includes the Nutrend "push/pull" machine which looks like it has been through a tornado and is ready for the scrap heap. With the prices you charge for membership, there should be enough money left for maintance and replacement.

This is NOT a premium location. People have to pay more money to work out at this location? Don't know why. There's absolutely nothing premium or better about it. Bench Press benches, Squat racks don't even have enough collars for each one...or even half of them! Not safe!!! Don't have any 35lb plates on the bench press side of gym. They have 6 total flat and incline benches. 1 set of 35lb plates over on that side. No chalk over by squat racks. Maybe that's something this location has never provided. But one that really annoys me is there is NEVER any towels or even paper towels to wipe down any equipment. Dude just gets off equipment sweating his azz off and I got nothing to wipe it down with. That's eFFed up. This is the only location like this. So I have to ask the question. Why is this a premium tier location that you charge more for a membership and it has subpar quality to represent that "premium". It's a joke. Please take this review as insight on how to improve. PS your leg press machine is horrible. People don't want to use it because of the high angle, high foot planet needed and it's sketchy as hell trying to lock the safety back in. Please get a different one! This feedback is also coming from a coworker of mine who used to work at this location. That leg press machine is so horrible he told his gf not to ever use it because she almost injured herself trying to relock the safety in. 2 stars. Because all of the subpar things I mentioned above. The rest is great. Employees are great.

This location SUCKS!!! They charge more for the exact level of customer service the other locations give, which is low. My biggest problem is their sauna’s are so low efficiency. They sit at 120 degrees or less when an EFFECTIVE sauna works from 160-180 degrees! And the heater isn’t even guarded! What happens if someone slips or falls and burns themselves on an unprotected unit? Premium membership prices for basic services and equipment!

Don't sleep on this location or get caught up on those who are upset that Genesis made innovations when it purchased the property. I've been a huge fan of Genesis for years, and the leadership doesn't settle for subpar experiences. I've also been waiting to write this review until the entire project was done, but as it's nearing, I wanted to share. As far as a gym goes, this is going to have everything you need or want. Multiple power racks, multiple benches, a massive wall of dumbbells, perhaps the world's largest cable crossover setup (don't call Guiness about it, just a guess) a running track, assault treadmills, assault bikes, a turf area, a cardio area, one amazing pool. Shoot, I haven't even touched the spots that aren't done—rooms for fitness classes, the basketball courts, etc. The locker rooms are also going to be spectacular with custom combination locks, ample space to change, and in-locker room saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs. I know this is a long review, and probably reads like someone who works for the company (spoilers: I don't.) I took the time to write this because I am excited for this spot, and I don't want the nay-sayers or those who are clinging to the old gym to distract you from joining. Genesis leadership is great, and this location is going to be a huge addition to the area. EDIT: There is a difference between working out and training. I wanted to edit my review since having used a trainer. Cooper Todd is an amazing and experienced young man who knows his stuff. He didn't waste the hour with chatting, but filled it with needed training and useful tips and expertise. If you want to take your workout to another level, I'd recommend a trainer. If you want a trainer, I recommend Cooper.

I've been a member here for about a year now and am no stranger to the gym scene. I use multiple PL locations and I will have to echo what some on here have said about their customer service: PATHETIC! One guy who works the desk late at night, the Rasta resembling dude is cool and friendly, but the others absolutely not! It's like they go thru some PL hiring program to train them how to be self absorbed unfriendly. They have much to improve upon here.

Privacy is not taken seriously here or upheld as they say in your contract with them that states that your information will not be sent to a 3rd party. I had a private photo taken of me by an EMPLOYEE who was on the clock working. Even with proof of this happening(the picture and statement from the employee that they did this on record!) , club management refuses to acknowledge that they did wrong, never given an apology, steps to rectify the situation, or care that this happened. Steer clear of any and all of these facilities!

Update: The gym is finished now, extraordinary. Best gym in Omaha …. Hands down. Now they deserve the 5 star ————————————————————————— When the Genesis managements decided to reinovate the best gym in town for no obvious reasons, and the gym is partially closed due to innovation work for more than a year... then they deserve the one star

Since I've been a member of Genesis Health Clubs - 84th & Q Street, I've had nothing but positive experiences. This place has incredibly nice and friendly staff. My fitness journey has benefited greatly from the assistance of Mr. Ben and Mr. Chase, my personal trainer. They are both very good at offering direction, encouragement, and support. The atmosphere is conducive to reaching exercise goals, and the facility is kept up nicely. To anyone searching for an excellent exercise facility with a wonderful staff, I heartily recommend Genesis Health Clubs. Keep up the fantastic job. Genesis Health Clubs!

We enjoy our extra time at this gym especially during the summer that kids out of school. We like to do the outdoor activities like swimming so, since they have the outdoor swimming pool as well as indoor and it meets our needs! I am glad that they offer the family plan so kids come too. So far we love it and it’s worth it!

Terrible customer service. I have personal family emergencies going on, and whoever I spoke to in Member Services today was rude and unapologetic. This location has solely focused on profit and less on well-being of their clientele. I’ll be switching ASAP.

Cons:Bad hours, bench equipment is weird, not much for shoulder exercises, cafe closes at weird times during Friday- Sunday, overpriced,no perks. Pros: has the most accessories for working out for bench, squats deadlifts. Clean, and friendly staff. I'd personally recommend another gym.

I really love coming here and enjoy my workouts. The remodel is really well done and even when it’s crowded I still feel like there is plenty of room. My only issues are that they often do not have any towels or Kleenex’s upstairs, especially when it’s busy. There is also no designated place for matts upstairs. I like to use a matt on the turf for stretching and ab workouts, and I know I am not alone.

I've been going to this fitness club for about 2 months. It's changing my life and it's because of my personal trainer Cooper. I'm in my mid 60's, all to say, it's never to late to start! Best decision. I can't say enough about Cooper. He's smart, knows what he's doing, encouraging and motivating. I highly recommend this gym and Cooper. Thank you Cooper!

This gym is a great place to workout, they have updated equipment and a good amount of it. The energy is also great. I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Leo Venteicher the manager and that man is awesome. He knows what he is doing, he is very understanding and polite. He honestly made my experience here just that much better. I always say “it’s not the place, it’s the people”. I’ll continue to come here.

I’ve been coming here for a year now. This place really set the standard for what a gym should be. I recently went to “a different gym” to workout with a friend from work. That was probably the most underwhelming workout I’ve ever had. I’m so grateful to have this place. The staff, the culture and overall experience is exactly what I need. Thank you!!

Enjoy this Genesis the best out of all the Omaha gyms. It is very clean and welcoming. Staff are friendly and helpful. Equipment is up to date and well maintained. The variety of workouts allow for whole body health. I especially enjoy the pool. Best of all the Genesis gyms in our area. The manager Leo is super helpful. Made us a shake once when the staff was out!

Was surprised that after over a year of remodeling, the hot tub and steam room are closed. Housekeeping around machines, steps, and locker rooms leave MUCH to be desired. One thing after another, now no one checks the lockers which people keep locked up for their next visit and other lockers have been locked by jokers with nothing inside the locker. Last of oversight is management issue.

A bit expensive but they have a dedicated Pilates studio, pool, basketball courts, and a spin class room. Most of the machines are modern, but there's one or two there left over from the Reagan administration (kidding of course). Staff are nice and the place is clean. They always have deals on personal training. The racquetball courts are popular too.

Moved here from Germany and we just wanted a gym with a nice sauna. With the new renovation, it is definitely more new but it is still lacking that extra-ness you’d expect with the price. The upstairs fitness area is small as compared to maybe the one on Cass but the equipment is new. The main thing that bothers me is all the fluorescent white lights in the workout areas. Please dim them, or switch them for more warm lighting. Especially in the sauna, just make it dark in there like the steam sauna. I expected a little more but we got got so what can you do.

The gym is a steal. LA/Esporta fitness $25 a month with better equipment, more equipment, pool and all of it for a way better price. Plus we can bring a guest. Genesis is just a steal !!!

Pretty relaxed atmosphere. I like to do cardio on the track. It definitely beats going on the treadmills! Locker rooms have built-in lock, so you don't have to bring one every time you go. P.S. They have a LOT of dumbells, really good for those of you who need dumbells heavier than 100lbs

I started my membership here at the top of the year, my fear was that because of the hours I work would interfere with my membership and plan to get fit. Well my fear was realized overnight shift with emergencies caused me to miss a lot of scheduled appointments. However Genesis never missed a withdrawal. So I received a call today, I was asked if I could make up a payment for April, I told the person that called and asked if payment is more important than a member not using the facilities for 6 months. So I told them that they should consider the call for payment my call for termination of membership. She told me that she could take a payment but, I would have to email the company manager. WOW

Morning staff extremely friendly, clean most machines always working properly only reason not 5 star is just because they recently decided to restrict towels to one per guest. Other than that I'd say the #1 Genesis location In OMAHA & I've been to 90% of them.

  • 2/5 Mark L. 8 months ago on Google
This gym has its issues that I can definitely deal with. However the one thing that really upsets me is the towel situation. They do not have enough! You have steam saunas, pools, hot tubs, showers, and regular saunas. Everytime I come there is never enough towels for the guest. Stock up on enough towels to accommodate your paying guests.

The gym has taken two payments out while my membership was frozen because of the covid. I have been trying to get reimbursed for over a month now, they do not return my calls nor do they answer my emails. I will probly need to get an attorney or channel 7 to help. Beware!!!! Do not sign any paperwork or give them access to your money...If you cancel you will NOT get your money back-they will keep pulling from your account and say they made a mistake but you will NOT get it back. Their billing is not local for a reason, this is part of Genesis Fitness using the Prairie Life Fitness name to make it sound and feel local.

I honestly have not had the time to show up at the Gym that I had hoped, which is always a challenge for me. Even so, the money I have paid for this membership has been worth every cent and more from the benefits I have received from the personal training package. I only purchased the training because it was on sale for New Year’s thinking it would motivate me to show up more. Having used personal trainers in the past they normally have not done much for me, so my expectations were not super high. I worked with Chelsea, but I suspect the entire team at PLF to be just as awesome. Listening to where I was at and want to be, she developed a custom plan to help me reach my goals and that is really the difference. Using this I am hitting my fitness goals more consistently than any point in my life. Also love the racquetball courts and community at both locations. Really impressed with the team that works there, from the front desk, to the membership person that signed me up, the personal training staff and pretty much anyone I have spoken with have been super helpful. Thanks!

Great gym. Would get 5 stars if they would add some paint that was energizing! Its so grey and gloomy in the 84th and 132nd location. Makes me feel blah and unmotivated. If they can't do a paint job, some tvs on all the ellipical machines would help! Also wish they had later classes.

Great gym, but beware. Last week a friend’s car was broken into while she was working out, and the other night my boyfriend’s car was stolen from the parking lot of this gym while he was working out at this same location. They don’t have cameras in the parking lot, so we have no way of being able to see exactly when this happened, or who is responsible. I think the gym could have been more proactive to protect their members. The person who stole the car is obviously a member here- otherwise they couldn’t have accessed the locker rooms, and because of the lack of cameras, this person may continue to come to Genesis and damage or steal from others. Needless to say I don’t feel safe at this gym anymore.

One of the best gyms I have ever joined! I was only planning to be a member for a short while to lose some weight before a convention and tone my arms. However, I had so much fun I extended my time there for months until I financially couldn't stay (my new job doesn't pay as well as my last and I took on car payments). Aqua Zumba was definitely my favorite class but all of the aquatics classes were a lot of fun and the instructors are so fun and passionate. All of the aquatic classes are perfect for every fitness level. There's a nice variety of machines, a track that encircles the upstairs workout area (with windows looking down on the pool and basketball court). Overall it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for one.
