Kayaking out here was fun, spent a leisurely afternoon out on the water keeping fairly close to the shoreline. Had a good time! There is a little campground in the marina cove, it looks perfect for a weekend staycation. I did not camp but am curious to come back and try it. Con: no options to stop and use a restroom around the lake really, that my group noted. Other lakes seemed to have more spots to take a break. This only offered a portapotty at the boat dock. Weird: there were dead deer in the water, one near the bridge and another in a cove. They were halfway out, close to shore. Not sure what happened, but concerned about why they both died at the edge of the water.

Lake was m@king a great come back after renovations. Then invasive mussels ruined it. And douglas county drained it without giving bank fisherman a chance to harvest any good size fish. Now its weeds and grass. Even when filled again it will be another 5 years to restock and rebuild habitat. Update... They have re opened the remodeled campgrounds and the lake seems to be 75% filled to it's prior depths .

Beautiful, scenic, calm, pretty "flat for the most part" trail. My husband and I enjoyed a nice walk/ jog a couple days after opening. I love the signs too! Broke in my new cap 😜

Great place to hike. Walked the entire 7.2 mile trail. Next time I will hike the grass trails. They are so beautiful. One of the nice things about this trail is no traffic noise for the most part. And security rides the trail in case someone has problems or needs water.

not quiet as primitive and 'out in the wild' feeling anymore, but still super nice. the trails used to be very overgrown and a mix of asphault and dirt, now a nice 4 foot concrete slab all around the lake, nice bridges..i like how they kept some of the outside omaha feel with the wood fences and gates, hopefully after the trees grow back it will be a little more rustic again, but love what they did with the place. i hope everyone keeps it nice and clean since i've lived here since 1997, they have drained the lake twice i hope it stays clean and people respect it so we can enjoy it. thanks a lot! :) thanks army corps and Cunningham board! if you want to hike around the lake, the trail is about 7 miles around- almost 3 times standing bears size, so come prepared and have fun! There is still a network of old trails dating back to the 1970s here and there, if you take those dipping on and off the new trail the hike is probrably around 10 miles around the lake, very scenic. :)

5/8/2022-TICKS!!!-WILL UPDATE Been taking our dogs to this lake for 2 years now. 2 months ago started coming home with ticks. Yesterday between myself and 1 dog we found 9! We're also 90% on trail. It's bad this year. Will be trying different parks and lakes and will periodically come back to this one and update this post.

Well they are still treating it like its their own private lake. They will only let you use firewood that you buy from them super expensive like 3 times the price I couldn't take my own firewood in and the wouldn't let the firewood I ordered to be delivered to me out there even drive into campground. It's a rip off but there must be a money making sceme for the people running the place I'll never go there again. Bunch of thieves

I use to come to this lake before the renovation. From what I can see the money was wasted no roads where fixed the only additions were new walkways, bridges and security cameras. Other then that everything else that was worked on was done cheaply. Also having half the entrance now closed forces people to only 3 locations. The marina, the overlook and the entrance on 96th street. For this prophecy to talk almost 2 years I was expecting more.

We liove Cunningham to bike. Our favorite ride here. However, when we were there today , we heard gun shots near the boat loading ramp. We had decided to kayak today and that is why we were there. This was very disturbing and we do know the difference between gun shots and fireworks. This was about 8 am this morning. Could someone investigate this as we are not wanting to go back if this happens again !!
