I suppose if this is one of those things you follow on TV then this will be a good place to visit. Other than that our group found it rather randomly and decided to give it a try. We were disappointed. It was $20 per person. You're not allowed to take pictures inside the museum. You're given a small flashlight so you can see the exhibits and read the attached cards. Unfortunately all three of us had our flashlights fail just a few minutes into the museum. There is some black lighting so you can see your way around so we weren't in any danger of any sorts but it did take away from the experience. The folks out front later on just apologized and said they were sorry. You can get a blacklight flashlight for $30 per person and there are a variety of instruments that you can rent during your visit though you might want to bring your own batteries. Perhaps the extra money means that they'll actually charge the battery first. It was largely a collection of dolls. And some of them had interesting backstories. Most amusing incident to me was reading about a doll that said some people felt a cold chill when they stood near the doll. At that point my flashlight still worked so I shined the flashlight on the floor and found that's where the air conditioning vent was. So nothing unusual or scary or even interesting happened while in the museum. And it was so dark we probably wouldn't have seen it anyway.

Went here back in October on Friday the 13th, and it was definitely spooky and interesting with so many haunted artifacts. We had some paranormal things happen. We smelled old perfume and cologne when we walked by and sensed that an old couple was standing there. Also, a crib was rocking by itself. This place is definitely haunted. You can see lots of orbs and dark shadows moving on the live camera. Great place to visit in the old market, especially during Halloween time.

Awesome experience! The crib downstairs moved on its own. I watched it for five minutes straight. No wires, no motors, no draft. I eventually stopped watching when I heard old music box music playing faintly. No one else heard it but me.

’m going back! Believe in it or not, it’s still a pretty interesting place. I only did the self guided tour. Each artifact has its own card with a quick story. I also did one of the sit challenges. Which was really cool and interesting. I’m still trying to figure out what I heard and saw. I’m an openminded skeptic so my mind is trying to debunk but no luck so far. They do have a small gift shop but the things I was wanting they were sold out. The owners were wonderful and very welcoming. Big things are coming there way and I’m really happy for them. when they become big and famous, I can’t wait to say I met them in person.

The museum is full of dolls, clowns, coffins, and the macabre. Each having something possibly attached to it. There's one doll that has her own corner. You have to ask if it's OK to go into her area. I was enthralled by the stories behind these things in the museum. With so many things in this 2 story building, I did not get the time to read everything. Which has me itching to go back and learn more. That and I'm dying to experience time to sit by myself to see if anything happens. I did buy a wicked goblet and some precious stones. The only thing I was allowed to photograph was the shop area. I'll get better pics next time.

It was fun and creepy at the same time. You can rent paranormal instruments to use as you walk thru the museum! There are lots of cool, creepy things. If you are scared of dolls or clowns, don't go.

The museum was definitely a highlight of our trip! Filled with SO MANY ITEMS, each with their own descriptions. It is very dark in there, but you get a flashlight when you go in. When I went, tickets were $20 and if you got the UV light then you pay $30. Some things were quite spooky, and the mood set it nicely. Definitely can spend 2+ hours in there reading everything, you really start to feel like you're being watched.

I wasted $30 here, don't make my mistake. I believe in ghosts but I'm guessing their old location was better. It's $15 a person for only 3-4 rooms, depending on how you divide them, and there's stuff along the walls but that's it. They hit you with the up charges before you even walk in, emf detectors and special flash lights, etc. Then they make you sign a document forbidding you from taking pictures of anything inside... Once you walk in you won't want to take pictures anyway. The artifacts upstairs are alright, mainly a boat load of dolls, but downstairs is rough. For example: they have a route 66 sign just to "remind you of Americas most haunted highway". In their gated off area that's supposed to be the worst of the worst you can find an "ancient mayan ceremony" thing which is painfully obviously just a ceramic piece that's been painted... Once you find one fake thing it's hard to believe anything is real. I wasted $30 here, don't make my mistake.

I visited in October, right before Halloween. The collection was pretty cool and the tour was interesting. We rented an EMF detector for an additional fee. I found it interesting that the detector was not very responsive until the " demon" room. In the room the detector was jumping off the chart. However, I also found it interesting that the "demon" room had so much electrical wiring and a few circuit boxes as well. I'll say no more .. make of that what you will

We went because my wife is really into ghost shows, but it was actually really cool and the whole family had a great time. The owners were very friendly and made the experience top notch.

I purchased tickets for a night time ghost hunt as a birthday gift for a friend! She previously visited the museum and thought she saw everything. She loved the hunt and all the different ways it evolved! She enjoyed having a new and exciting second experience! She even recommended that I go with my teenage daughter. Great gift purchase!!

A lot of random junk with a few interesting artifacts. Just because a doll gives someone the creeps does not make it a haunted item. Basically hundreds of dolls with typed note cards attached to them that you have to try to read with your little flashlight (for $20 entry, put a new triple A in ... I had to go back three times because of weak batteries and each time the had to go digging through to find one that even worked). As I said, some do have interesting stories to them, but most don't. Clean out the clutter, organize, and get better lighting and it might be worth half the entry fee.

Amazing museum and experience!! It is $20 for basic admission and you get a flashlight to go through the museum, as the lights are dimmed. You can also rent different equipment if you want more of an investigative experience. Lots of different artifacts and oddities all with a story attached. The realm downstairs in the basement is very intense. Towards the cauldron I felt super nauseous and got a headache. Then my flashlight went out. The workers happily switched me out a new one and informed me that’s not unusual and spirits do like to pull energy from them. So if you are sensitive just be aware! There’s a lot of energy in this building. A lot of the negative comments I’ve seen seem to not understand that first and foremost this is a museum. There are no paid actors, nothing is going to pop out at you. Simply just enjoy it for what it is and if anything unexplainable happens, you know it’s for real. Also the staff is super sweet and answered all my annoying questions!!! So thank you! Will definitely be returning for a ghost hunt soon!

We paid $40 each for the after hours 10pm to midnight "investigation". It wasn't an investigation, it was just a guided tour, with the option to rent equipment to investigate. You can also pay an additional $10 (each) for 10 minute sessions alone to see how brave you are. I don't know if it's the same during normal hours, but for the after hours investigation they keep the museum dark. They hand out cheap flashlights when you enter, which are necessary to read the info accompanying the items. The problem is, hardly any of them worked. It was 2 hours of constantly hitting the flashlight in an often futile attempt to get it to work. I recommend bringing your own small, operable flashlight. I'm not sure what the difference is between the $20 walk up tour during regular open hours and the 2 hour "investigation" tour. Based on our experience, the $20 tour might be better if you go when no one else is there. I say that because our after hours event was attended by a good 10 people, so there wasn't much peace and quiet or personal space. Even the isolation experience was tainted because while you are isolated everyone else is still milling about, laughing and carrying on on the floor above you, so you don't get the dead silence that would be ideal. I will say, this is an impressive collection that is the real deal. Some of these items have attachments you do not want following you. Unfortunately, they say it's a museum and museums never allow photography, which of course is simply not true, but in this case they do strictly enforce their no photography rule. I guess I'm confused, because all of the media outlets that featured the museum were able to film as part of their pieces. How/why are they different than paying customers? The place was definitely worth checking out, I just don't feel like there was any real value in paying double the usual admission fee (plus isolation fee) for the experience. Maybe the owners can clarify.

We came all the way from the Florida Keys to see this amazing Museum! My family & I loved it and we are so excited for the after-hour events! Highly recommended. We got to witness; an item move that is behind glass! My daughter's shirt got pulled/tugged on. My wife thought she had seen a ghost /tall man standing near an item when she looked back nothing was there. However, I had a few unexplainable things happen, while talking to the Claire doll. I heard a child's voice say hello - (I was the only one in the room) I also thought she moved her leg; I told the staff right away and they said that is very common for her to do and that they have video of her moving online. Very cool place to read what everyone had experienced with said items etc. WE are so glad we made the trip to Nebraska to visit. We will be back. WE give it a 10/10 Highly recommend!

It's an interesting experience. Judging it purely from the curation of oddities throughout the building it just seems a bit unfinished and unpolished. Lots of unused space in the basement and the blaring travel channel spots from the TV in the main room are more distracting than it should be. The gift shop is very underwhelming. Theyre missing a great oppourtunity to sell branded merchandise. Its a fascinating collection, with a little work this place could be one of the most Interesting museums of Americana in the country.

Our second trip to the MoS was significantly different than our first a year ago, so I'll review them both. First trip was in April '22. The mood and overall vibe of the place had us hooked. If you watch any of the many paranormal TV shows, you'll recognize a lot of the equipment in use, such as the REM pod, spirit boxes, and K2 meters. Upon entry, we rented a spirit box and K2 meter and joined our quiet and seemingly nervous crowd of twenty or so for a guided ghost tour. For an hour, the owners walk you around the upper and lower levels, telling stories of the various artifacts and how they came to be in possession of them. After the guided tour, they let you loose to freely walk wherever you wish. As others have noted, you're asked not to touch things, which I'm entirely fine with. For one, none of these things are mine, two: I was raised with manners to know that you look with your eyes, not your hands, and three: I'm not interested in finding out whether these objects truly have the ability to haunt or attach to you causing you trouble after you leave. Our first tour in '22 was respectful, quiet, and attentive which significantly increased the creep factor. We could each hear the various spirit boxes as they picked up various radio signals and added communication to the tour increasing our anxiety that there really were spirits among us. The doll in the entryway, Ayda, was a favorite last year. Reading her tragic story pulled us in, and the REM Pod sitting above her case seemed to interact well with us and kept us talking with her/getting responses. Basement "Claire" was another favorite. Keeping her in seclusion among some VERY scary objects added to the overall allure. And allowing us to walk freely on our own after the guided tour led to some incredibly scary moments and untraceable noises. All of the fear and unexplainable things we heard and experienced last year confirmed that we wanted to return which we finally did last night. What a different experience. I realize this is first and foremost a business that needs revenue to continue operating. I also acknowledge that, as a business, the team can't be picky about who they choose to allow entry. Unsavory tour attendees can't be helped so, although that did impact our visit, that's not what this review is based off of. My thoughts are simply these, an age restriction should be considered at least for the latest tour time. With kids running around, interrupting the tour, asking questions, being rambunctious, it cuts the tension and undercuts the whole vibe. What should've been a anxiety inducing tour through a quiet creepy museum felt and smelled more like a field trip to the zoo. That is not a comment on the establishment itself. The museum is clean in both sight and smell. I think attention is paid to ensure a good experience to the best of the owners ability, and this was likely just bad timing. Additionally, the lower level is off limits until everyone can descend the stairs as a group, allowing the tour to hear any footsteps overhead and validate that no one is on the upper floor. Unfortunately, we weren't able to hear anything that was potentially occurring upstairs, or even in an adjacent area because of the noise and questions from the children in our tour group. And, with so many "sit challenges" booked for the night, our time downstairs was cut short to ensure enough time was reserved to observe these challenges. This was also disappointing as you pay for two hours of time, 60 minutes guided and 60 minutes to freely roam, but we really only got a fraction of that free time due to these challenges. We were able to go back upstairs during the challenges, but we'd already spent so much time up there prior to the tour that it wasn't much consolation. And the REM Pod we so enjoyed interacting with on Ayda's case was noticeably missing on this trip. 1) kids should not be allowed 2) sit challenges should be limited 3) emphasize quiet for numerous reasons 5 ☆s last year. $130 for 3 = 2☆

$20 -$30 just to walk through reading note cards attached to items. You can’t take any pictures or document your experience. It was not what I was expecting. This should be free.

I had a friend come visit from out of town. We love scary spooky stuff. This was a huge let down, the items were found at a junk sale and the stories sounded sooooo far fetched it was hard to even get scared. An extra 10 dollars for a uv light to see blood and DNA, there wasn't any to see and the attempt on blood was pink paint. Will not go back and am disappointed we wasted time and money on this

The museum was nice. I wish there wasn't such a cost for everything on addition to the $20 per person. I also wished when paying and getting ready to go in, they would tell you a bit more than sign the waiver, all rights belong to the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel.... I would have liked to hear what to expect and an air of excitement/anticipation. I was underwhelmed before I ever went in so the experience did not meet my expectations. I have watched the couple on TV and just expected more personality from them.

The museum of Shadows was pretty rad. It's a little pricy and some of it is a bit laughable but you can tell they put a lot of work into the museum and there's a lot of cool stuff! I was pretty disappointed that all they had to offer as far as merch with the name on it was some stickers, magnet, and koozie. I walked away with a magnet and sticker but was really wishing for a Tshirt or something to purchase. It's totally worth it if you're into spooky things and looking for some entertainment!! Although, just a warning! As with most museums no pictures!

A large assortment of possessed and haunted items. Which includes dolls, mirrors, and other miscellaneous items. Interesting yet disturbing back stories. It has a pretty heavy and dark atmosphere the longer you are in the museum. All the dolls on display are a freaky sight to behold.

we had a great time looking at all of the artifacts during our ghost hunt tour. it was super nice to be able to rent equipment and explore on our own. however, we didn’t realize the size of the tour, which was quite large (around 20-30 people, if not more) and because of the large amount of people it made it difficult to do the small group sit down. we had chosen the basement for our private sit down, while everyone was upstairs and all we could hear was people walking around. it was also hard to communicate with spirits when there was 20 other people also doing the same. all in all it was a really cool experience, just wish it was in smaller groups so we could actually try to communicate with spirits that are in the building.

Neat place, lots of interesting items and stories. The the energy is definitely different inside this place. Tickets are a bit expensive for just reading about/seeing a few rooms of items, haunted or not, in my opinion. I will recommend people check it out, especially if you're into the occult and watch the haunted/ghost shows. . . but i won't be going back for $20. Very friendly owners and staff!

My friend and I went last night and it was definitely creepy. Especially Claire’s room and the clown room. When we were getting ready to leave The swinging clown started moving on its own. We are definitely going to go back again and do the 10 minute challenge.

Went to the new Omaha location. I liked the Plattsmouth location better. I had just gotten downstairs to see what they had down there and then workers came down and said everyone had to leave the downstairs because someone decided to do a sit challenge. I didnt like that. They should do those outside of business hours.

The staff were very nice and friendly, I enjoyed the exhibits and display pieces. I only would suggest maybe 2 things: The stairs to the lower level are pretty steep and that rail felt kind of iffy. I had kind of a hard time getting down with my disability in my legs. The downstairs is where the real wild stuff is...maybe find a way to make it more accessible? It would have been nice to have had one or two designated sitting chairs, even a simple folding chair. I didn't see any when I was wandering around, but it would be nice. You guys have done a really great job on the museum and filling it with compelling and thought provoking pieces. Thank you.

I took my wife here for date night. We had a ton of fun. The place is not for the faint of heart. It cost us 25 dollars (a person) to do the tour with the UV light. Its worth it though trust me.. I will caution you some items can make you feel a little dizzy or nauseous, if you're sensitive to it. Not a place for young children but were going to be going back with our 14 year old.

I was so excited to go here, I cancelled my birthday party and decided to come here instead. Upon entering I didn't feel much, but the items were so cool to see and read about. The longer I spent inside of the museum though, the more I was affected. By the time we had reached the basement I was in such a fog that I could barely stand and make a coherent sentence. The energy here is INTENSE. I wish I could have gotten more hard evidence to make my very skeptical fiancé a believer. But we WILL be back and next time I will do the sit challenge. Even if you don't experience anything, the items in this museum are incredible to read and learn about. Not to mention the staff are great and the owners are very nice!

My family and I visited for the very first time day very impulsively as we were enjoying time downtown. I personally had purposely avoided this place at all costs due to my own personal beliefs and life experiences. Everyone was super excited to visit it when I announced we were actually going to go in. Needless to say the staff was great at making us feel comfortable going in despite my concern over signing waivers. It was an exhilarating and unique experience. Despite the fact that for reasons I cannot explain, I was too terrified to go downstairs, the rest of my group did and loved it more than upstairs. One of your staff did a great job answering non stop questions from my very nervous son and was a huge help. Thanks for a great experience.

My favorite museum in Omaha! A fun time if you are mildly interested in haunted artifacts but an amazing time if you are all in on the Paranormal! Hours of entertainment each time I visit. There are no pictures on the inside so the front of the building is all I can post for a picture. A must if you are downtown!

At the museum entrance we were greeted by two lovely ladies who welcomed us and answered all of our questions. Than we were given options of ghost hunting tools to rent and we decided to pick a spirit box. We even felt comfortable enough to take on the sit challenge! During our sit challenge we received quite a few messages through the spirit box that we were surprised to hear. The entire experience was great and we are proud to have completed the sit challenge!! Thank you 🙏🏽 for having us!!

Definitely was worth the experience! I would love to go back again. I went closer to closing time because I wanted to experience the most paranormal activity possible, and I definitely did experience that. (I also went in October, so the veil was thin) The owners were extremely friendly, I had a very comfortable experience. There was a lot of paranormal activity happening especially downstairs for me. It actually became too overwhelming for me at one point. I started to get extremely hot and I’ve never felt that before. Almost the complete opposite of feeling chills or a cool breeze next to you. At one point downstairs I had to quickly turn around and go back upstairs because it was too much. (and I mean that in a good way.) I would definitely sage or do your own form of protection before you go in and when you leave. Absolutely do not touch anything, I personally wouldn’t even step too close to certain items. I did have something follow me home, but after I did a cleansing in my house, I was perfectly fine! I’m also glad I went closer to closing time, no one else was there, It wasn’t busy at all and the doll Ayda started going crazy, but it wasn’t till after they closed. There’s a lot more that happened, it was a great experience overall definitely would recommend if you’re into spooky things.🔥🔥

Calm down, Cranky Carltons! It is fun. No, there are no jump scares. I don’t know what people expect, but it is cool. The stories people send with their donations are a piece of lovely folklore. The black light flashlight shows very little on some objects, but sadly too much on others. (I just hate kids’ toys having blood on them: grim.). If you get one of each flashlight you can double check what you’re seeing. Yes, the regular flashlights are silly and flicker, but just turn them off and back on. Overall, there is a melancholy reverence, neat artifacts to see, and tall tales with objects that get you in the feels.

  • 1/5 Christina M. 4 months ago on Google
It's really not worth the money. You get to wander about with janky flashlights and try to read a bunch of index cards with info about allegedly haunted stuff. Who knows if any of it is real or not, but your self tour is just walking into a large open room where everyone else who came in before you is still walking in a line, reading, while holding your own faulty flashlight. It's really stupid, and I regretted spending money to get in, though the idea of a haunted museum was what intrigued us. The kids (ages 6-9) hated it because they're just not that into reading little cards and not getting to touch anything.

When we first got to the museum we we greeted by two very nice girls who answered all of our questions. We got inside the actual museum area and it was very cool, I enjoyed reading the stories attached to the items and overall I was having a very positive experience. Until 2 maybe 12-14 year old boys came in being VERY disrespectful and disruptive. I tried to not let it ruin my experience but it’s incredibly difficult to read something when there are children running around with an emf reader yelling at inanimate objects. At one point I turned around and he had his hand on top of a dolls head and was YELLING at it telling it to blink. The parents sat downstairs in the very back room and just let them run rampant. There NEEDS to be an age restriction. Especially if parents can’t be responsible and respectful enough to tell them to knock it off. If it weren’t for this i would’ve enjoyed my experience fully.

While traveling through Omaha, I noticed the signage on the old building that houses The Museum of Shadows peering out through a surrounding construction zone. Not knowing what to expect, I sauntered in to be pleasantly surprised by the collection of curiosities and stories accompanying each! It's creepy, yeah, but not as creepy as a Jack-In-The-Box at 3am. The "as seen on television" style of "ghost hunting" activities included there make it decidedly less creepy. If held up in comparison to art galleries and museums of a similar size and budget, The Museum of Shadows proves exemplary. The curation and arrangement of the exhibits outshines, or I should say- out-shadows, arts district galleries from New York to Chicago to LA where not enough mixed media works are displayed and not enough effort is made to connect the artists' imaginations to potential viewers. A paragraph of "artspeak" is more likely to denigrate a complex sculpture or relief then it is to exalt it. In The Museum of Shadows, older pieces of art are resurrected by their accompanying text to become more than just shadows of former lives. In the coming years beyond the fall of human civilization, as all life on earth dwindles to its nadir, we can expect The Museum of Shadows to continue to cater to the good remnants of Omaha, exacting its operating costs in blood and sacrifice as homage to the memories of why we failed.

Firstly, all of the staff are very pleasing and kind people! Itd be worth the visit to just see them! But thats not all! There are many artifacts and haunted objects for your viewing pleasure! One of the biggest categories of museum was dolls. Though this was not all. Not only does this place have a cool spooky atmosphere you get to learn quite a but of history of the surrounding areas and more. If you ever get the chance to you should definitely go check this out! It is worth the time spent!

The history of the items were interesting to read. The "experience" seemed faked. Eh over all.

I am literally so over this establishment lol. My partner and I have came 2-3 times trying to go to the museum, always checking the websites hours first, and they are never open. Maybe fix your business hours on either your website, door, or voicemail because they’re all incorrect lol

I was here yesterday with some friends and this place is AWESOME!! We tried a sit challenge and seen some unexplainable paranormal activity. Highly recommended.. We will be booking a ghost hunt! Defiantly a must see! We also got our Museum membership yesterday!!! How cool now we can come back everyday! lol Lots of neat and creepy artifacts

We came to visit yesterday and this museum is so awesome! there is so much history and haunted creepy artifacts! This is a must see if you are into the paranormal! The staff is so nice and answer any questions you may have! We got to meet the owners and we got to take a photo with them it was so much fun! They both are so nice! The museum of shadows staff and owners go above and beyond and make sure every visitor or guest is taken care of! I know I asked 1000s of questions but they were so happy to answer them all and explain in detail! We also got to experience some paranormal activity while we were touring through a door opened on its own and a doll fell off a shelf! and no-one was near or in that area!! so cool!!! WE didn't expect that! but such a rush!!!! This is our new fave place! I will be back with friends and family and telling everyone I know! such a Gem to Omaha!

Do not waste your money on this! Local thrift stores and rummage sales have creepier items than this place. And they won't charge you $25 a person to look at them. Wish I knew ahead of time.

AMAZING GEM. This place was awesome 🤩 Tons of spirit energy , a bit overwhelmed by how much energy is there but at the same time so cool. I will seriously bring everyone I know ! If you don’t believe it’s OK, they don’t push anything on you, just give you the space to look around and that’s awesome. I will be back many more times!!!!

    Awesome experience

If you have a low bar this is for you. Most of the objects had "bought at a garage sale" or just straight up "has lots of energy" and nothing else. Very large amount of dolls and Ouija boards with the above statements attached. Oh and a clown room if you're into clowns. Better places in town for weird stuff and don't cost $25 a person.

I absolutely loved this place. The stories were fascinating and the museum was set up really well with each room more interesting then the one before.

Easily one of the most unique places in all of Omaha!! So many creepy artifacts and they have something called the sit challenge and it’s such an intense experience something you have to try!!!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!!! Owners Nathan and Kaleigh are pretty cool too :) since I have gone I have told all my friends and family they need to go!!! Keep up the great work you guys!!!

Honestly, I was kind of disappointed in the museum. Staff was friendly, but the actual content of the museum wasn't what I expected. There were a few neat items, but nothing as scary as I had anticipated. I would suggest maybe trying a bigger package than just the self guided tour with the UV light.

Its pretty fun if you're a believer, but it was more sparse than I had imagined.

They have alters to worship the devil inside one on each floor they say it's a museum but looks like a cover for an occult Church to worship demons.i would not recommend taking children inside

The dolls at Josephines Cozy corner are scarier.

Lots and lots of reading. Very neat items but I especially loved the oddities and wish there were more of those.

Really fun! Losts to look at! Downstairs has a different kind of energy due to the more haunted stuff, overall awesome experience would do again.

Took my son and his friend here for his Birthday....we have been wanting to go ever since we first heard of it when it was in Plattsmouth. It is quite the experience. We were intrigued by all of the artifacts and the lighting set eerie ambiance. We did not allot ourselves enough time to tour the museum and read the information about each artifact. We definitely are going to visit the museum again.

The bottom half of the establishment is completely inaccessible to any wheelchair user, which means they cannot participate in sit challenges or any other activity that primarily takes place downstairs. Offering a paltry "discount" doesn't help anything. UV light is a gimmick used to boost sales. Only one item glowed significantly under UV light. Out of the hundreds of items they boast, charging an extra $10 to see a bucket glow is not worth it. They play the same Ghost Adventures video on repeat in the back of the "museum" and it gets nauseating to listen to after a while. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
