    6/20/23 It appears they replaced all of the treadmill’s all of the stairstepper‘s both styles of exercise bikes, and other cardio equipment. Bumping them up to four stars. 6/16/23 Revising up to three stars. I was in the club yesterday, and they appear to be replacing the treadmills. Original post Would not recommend. Eight out of 10 treadmills are out of order and have been out of order for months. An entire group of ellipticals have been out of order or in some state of disrepair for months. Pointing this out to the front desk has gets the response “Genesis only has to maintenance man for the entire city and they mostly work out west.” Management is unresponsive. Complaining to corporate has not yielded correction of the deficiencies. Either local management doesn’t care about their gym or Genesis corporate doesn’t. Either way I would not recommend this gym. To validate Mollys review from two months ago, I’ve attached a picture of a stairmaster that is still out of order.

    Honestly, this is the worst Genesis I have ever visited. There's a cable machine upstairs that has been broken for over a year and a half. Leg curl machine broken. Locker rooms are nauseating. In the men's locker room, a urinal has been broken for a year. Sauna works half the time. Showers out of order. Please go somewhere else. Do better Genesis.

    Charged $15 more a month than what i signed on for, in the mens locker room only 1 of 4 showers work 2 of the 4 sinks and water fountain in broke. They have signs that say they are fixing it shortly but iv been here 8 months and nothing has been fixed.

    Genesis does not care about their members (whom they’re lucky to have). More than 30 people came to a locked, dark facility this morning. There is no phone number to call, no recourse for those committed members who have a limited amount of time before work to get in a workout. At the very least, place a phone number on the door for members to call an owner to open. I have plenty of guest passes for a locally owned gym that I will happily share the next time this happens. According to the other members waiting, this is a chronic (and absurd!) problem. It’s a perfect opportunity for them to cancel their memberships. Disgusted.

    If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would. The communication between staff, and professionalism at this location is abysmal. I called last month before my bill date to give my 30 day notice to put my account of freeze. Twice I called, and both times no notes were recorded on my account the conversation had happened. I purposely made sure to call before my bill date, so this month I would only be charged for the freeze, not the full amount. Two days after going through the freeze process with a sales associate, the sales manager had called to re go through the freeze process because of course, no notes were on my account. Fast forward to today, and I was charged the full amount instead of the freeze amount. I called and spoke to the sales manager, and she says she has no record of my phone calls with the sales associate last month, and refunding my full charge today “is out of her hands”. Having worked as a sales associate at a gym myself, that statement is completely false. Instead of admitting there was lack of communication and documentation on the side of the staff, she continuously was not helpful and unwilling to work with me. Do not join this location, they only care about your money and NOT their members!

    Based on my experience so far, it’s been alright, my biggest issue with their service is the lack of attention they put in when a machine needs to get fixed, there have been a few machines that have been out of service for months now. now recently one of my favorite cable machines, the one that I actually use the most, it’s broken, they put on a sign on it for a month now and still not fixed. another machine added to the broken collection that honestly I don’t think it will ever get fixed. I have experienced the same situation with other gyms, but when a machine broke it got fixed right away but not here, it is very very irresponsable and very annoying from the management part not to get their machines fixed so the members that pay a monthly fee can use them. Please make an effort and get that taken care of ASAP.

    Let me start by saying I rarely to never leave negative reviews based on one or two experiences. Of all the Genesis locations, the Aksarben one is the smallest and provides the least amount of logical amenities. My beef with them is that at least 6x now over the past 90 days I have shown up when they are supposed to open up @5 AM and either the employee opens the gym 15+ minutes late or today forgets the key to the gym somehow. This is not just one particular employee problem, it has been three different workers or more with this issue. If you're looking for a good morning workout this is far from the place to go.

    Horrible customer service. I signed a contract, 6 days later I requested to cancel as I was not impressed by the gym and had a employment change. I started this request on September 30 and still have no resolution. No answers, just so-so will call you back. Then I call that person because they do not call me. Then I get told to another person will call me back. Still no call so I call them. Get told the same thing again. Still no call. And now I have been charged for the membership that I am not using and do not plan to use without receiving resolution. In my experience, be very careful because they are happy to call daily when they want you to sign up but if there’s an issue they don’t want to resolve it.

    The equipment is worn or broken. The staff is nice enough, when they're there. Waited outside this morning for them to open, no one showed up. For $50 a month, it's the most over priced and poorly equipped gym I've ever used. In any other major city, they wouldn't be able to stay open. Equivalent or better gyms charge HALF as much. Cancelling today. It's the closest to my house, but it's not worth it, I'll drive the extra 20 minutes for equipment that works and hours that are reliable.

    Clean gym with a lot of different machines for different muscle groups and plentiful of cardio machines too. Just wish there was more room in the free weights area and more squat racks.

    I requested my membership be cancelled in June through the AKSARBEN gym. They said they would cancel it. Instead they put my account on a freeze. When I was charged again I called and spoke with the manager (Shane) who said he had to get my request approved through corporate and would call me back. Two weeks later when I called to check the status he lied and said he had not heard back. When I spoke to the corporate office myself I was able to resolved all issues in about 5 minutes, got my membership cancelled and found out that he had not, in fact, processed my cancellation request. If you want to cancel be prepared to be jerked around.

    They run this place like a total crack shack. Currently, they have multiple broken showers (or ones that just spit out scalding hot water) and sinks that have been down for months. Their philosophy is to keep the plumber out but dues coming in. They've upgraded some of their equipment recently but have left it a complete slum in terms of their locker room situation.

    The gym is in a great location. Centrally located to lots of stuff. The equipment, however is old and in various states of disrepair. Cable machines are constantly breaking, benches have fairly large cracks in them, and is just generally dirty. Mirrors, floors and equipment are generally just not cleaned or cared for.

    The gym is good: conveniently located, friendly staff, plenty of machines etc. But I am mostly here to review the group fitness classes and specifically zumba instructor Lauren. She is AWESOME. She makes the class so much fun no matter how familiar you are with the moves or how "good" you are at dancing. Also, it's one heck of a workout!

    Terrible and unprofessional. Tried to cancel and ended up waiting 20 minutes to see a manager. I haven't gone in months. But they still hit me with a $150 termination fee along with a 30 day process so I can be charged for one more month of not using the membership. Disgusting business practice. I’d give 0 stars if it were possible.

    The gym has a healthy mixture of new beginners and seasoned regulars. Everyone just minds their own business and keeps to themselves from what I've seen! You don't have to worry about competing with anyone or feel like people are watching you. Most of the equipment is very nice and good quality with plenty of variety to keep your workouts fun and engaging! There are a few worn cables and slightly ripped benches but thats just normal for a big, high traffic gym like this one. There are also multiple cleaning stations located around the gym to make good hygiene easy! The lockers and bathrooms are all acceptable and maintained. The staff all seem pretty friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a good selection of supplements and a 50% off rack too! Weekdays start to get busy around 5pm. Weekends seem to be pretty low traffic during the afternoon/evening!

    The Aksarben location is by far the best gym because of the welcoming staff and positive atmosphere. Since joining in January 2022, I have gained so much knowledge from the fitness manager & trainers and continue to grow each day. Even with the set backs of lack of consistent maintenance or support from a corporate level, the staff absolutely does everything they can to make members feel welcomed and comfortable. I can’t recommend this location enough! 😁

    Fantastic location, right in the heart of Aksarben, with super easy access to free parking, and a nice clean facility. It wasn't super crowded when I went (around 6am), and I didn't need to wait for any equipment. It did still feel a little tight, though, as it's not a huge place. I would imagine that it could get a bit crowded pretty easily. One thing making it a little less efficient is that it seems like a lot of equipment (including half the showers) are out of order. I know they are improving clubs, maybe one at a time, and I hope this one gets some attention soon!

    I love this gym. The equipment is new and well taken care of, the atmosphere is friendly and warm and the staff always treats you like family. I have had great experiences with Tyler. Whenever I’ve had a problem, he’s helped me tremendously and it’s been stress free. 10/10 recommend this gym and talking to Tyler if you have any questions or concerns.

    I was with this gym for a couple of months & in that time frame the club was always spotless & clean. Never too busy. And the staff here was always friendly and helped me with whatever i needed. Specifically, the club manager Tyler made a lasting impression. He was always super helpful fulfilling any needs i had & even though i am not a member anymore, he is still willing to assist in the future if i have any more questions or decide joining again. It was nice being treated more like a friend than a customer here!

    File a complaint with the BBB - A large number of people are experiencing negligence when it comes to freezing, closing, or rectifying accounts. TL:DR Continued charging hundreds of dollars for training sessions after cancellation with no intent to refund. They stopped answering phones for days during the initial shutdown to duck people trying to cancel their memberships. I spoke half a dozen times with in-house management (Shane) to cancel training and requested a freeze on the account. Each time they would say everything was taken care of while they continue to apply charges and late fees to the account. This has gone on now for about a year. I could write pages on the poor communication and scummy practices but you get the idea. I have reached out to cooperate and requested cancellation of my account and to have an itemized bill including early termination fee mailed to me. Update, two months after calling Cooperate: Called Genesis Askarben to confirm the cancellation of account and that the final bill had been sent months after requesting it be sent. The employee informed me 3 letters had been sent with the final statement and confirmed my address. But the account is still open which means no final statement COULD have been sent and obviously, I haven' t received a single letter.

    Scam warning!! Free 5 sessions with a trainer was a scam. The trainer tried so hard to cancel every time After the first session and lied he would reschedule but never did until I see him at the gym. Then he would be like “oh! I thought I already rescheduled” when he actually didn’t reach me again. When I told about this to the manager, he said the trainer wasn’t in a good position of his life. Well, that’s not my problem and the manager should have been managing what their trainers do. Maybe the manager was the part of it. Who knows. The whole thing made me feel so uncomfortable to go to the location knowing that someone is trying hard to avoid me. Anyone wants to join this location, rethink.

    I joined the gym for a three month membership. I was only joining until my apartment gym was completed. I paid up front with my credit card for three months which was $150.00. I wanted to pay up front so my credit card would not be charged again once the three months was up. The manager personally called me saying they made a mistake and then didn't get my credit card number and they needed a credit card number on file for every member. I told him I didn't feel comfortable doing that since I was only going to use the gym for three months and that is why I wanted to pay all dues up front. He promised me that I was paid in full, they just needed a credit card on file for identification and promised me it would not be charged again. Due to Covid-19 and the gym having to close down for a couple months, I was only able to workout at the gym for three weeks which cost me $150.00. Then in May, I am looking at my credit card bill and I am charged another $55.00. This is exactly why I didn't want my credit card number on file and exactly what I was worried about. I tried to call the manager at the gym a couple times and I also tried to reach the salesperson who sold me the membership. Each time I didn't get a call back and the manager (Shane) would only text me back with updates. After three weeks of no results and no credit back to my card, I finally had to reach their corporate office who was more than helpful and was able to get it handled for me quickly. This gym is very quick to take your money, is very quick to want a credit card on file but is very slow if you want and expect a credit back. Nice gym, great location and good equipment but poor customer service and management. Make sure you only give them your credit card on file if you want to be charged dues each month.

    Overall, I really enjoyed working out here. This gym stands out compared to the other Genesis locations in terms of quality. The place is super clean, good variety of weights, and the staff is very nice. The locker rooms were always in great shape and the showers are the best in Omaha. Additionally, the yoga class is 10/10. I canceled my membership due to covid-19 (breaching my contract!) and the cancelation process was a breeze. As long as you're thorough and fully understand the terms of your contract, you won't have a problem with your membership. From my personal experience, this is a great gym, and I wasn't faced with any of the cancel pains other reviewers experienced. 4/5 stars just because the price is a bit high compared to other gyms in Omaha, and the workout area itself is relatively small.

    As an person who has dealt with Genesis and their many locations for over the past two years, I can tell you that in my opinion this is the absolute worst company to deal with and the worst gym chain in the Midwest. I have had problems at multiple locations (including this one) that have gone all the way up the corporate ladder to the Vice President and I can tell you that even at that level they are not interested in solving customer problems. They appear to be very interested in money and business, but beyond that they are not people-friendly. If you get online and read reviews of Genesis at various locations around Omaha, you will see that many people have the same issues. So, the problematic theme at this company has never been solved and continues negatively affect good people. They also have a problem with personal training. As a Master of Kinesiology and a Master Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I can also tell you that they do not train people the way that modern standards recommend. Every location is different and will give different training paths - none of which truly train people the way modern trainers should. Please stay away from this company.

    I am happy to say the gym has stepped up it's game in cleanliness during this Corona issue. I work out at various times during the day, 7 days a week. In the past few days I've noticed several members of the gym staff going through the gym item by item, wiping each piece down with disinfectant. This has been both mid morning and mid afternoon. The vinyl covering on the pieces of equipment are getting replaced if worn. And the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Well done!!!

    I signed a contract, 1 days later I requested to cancel my wife, since my wife did not use it. I started this request on December 17 and I still don't have a resolution. There are no answers, only more or less I will return the call. Then I call that person because they don't call me. Then they tell me that another person will call me back. I still don't call, so I call them. Let them tell you the same thing again. There is no call yet. And now I have been charged for a full membership for two months that I am not using. In my experience, be very careful because it is disrespectful not to solve our demands. I am totally uncomfortable because they should be more professional and do their job more responsibly.

    I like it overall! I just wish Friday’s or weekdays even they would open later.... pretty clean except the west roads location. The gym members are versatile which I like. The perks are a plus to encourage you to go to the gym. I like the environment a lot!

    If you're looking at joining because of the location, go elsewhere. I have been a member since it was Golds Gym. Total lack of maintenance here. Finding a fully functional piece of cardio equipment is like finding a unicorn. The broken equipment have been tagged for months. The machines are old, so even when repaired they break again almost immediately. The mens locker room is in the same poor condition. Only 2 of the 4 showers work, 2 of the lavatories are broken and 1 of the urinals. The other locations have newer equipment and are maintained, but not this location. I joined this gym because of location. If I need to go somewhere inconvenient , I'll go to Planet Fitness which is only $10/mo versus nearly $50. If it wasn't for the friends I've met there and work out the same time as me, I'd left long ago.

    If I could give it a half star, I would. Member services are horrible when it comes to monthly payments. I recently got married and my husband and I combined our membership onto one plan. We got charged for our monthly combined membership AND my old monthly individual membership. I reached out to member services and was told they would take care of it and credit me back for charging me the individual monthly membership fee. Several days go by and I am still not credited back. I reach out again and am told it can take up to 15-30 days. Well, it is now past that and STILL no credit back. I reached out AGAIN and did not get anywhere. Basically was told that it takes a long time. Needless to say, they are fine taking your money, but it’ll take forever to get a credit back.

    I personally love using this facility. Despite some of the problems that the facility has the staff are absolutely wonderful. The manager Shane always does his best to help us with whatever problems we have. For example the water was scolding hot and I couldn't get it adjusted. I spoke to Pat and he let Shane know. Shane found me and addressed my concerns and helped me out the water situation. Even though the club needs some maintenance The staff makes you feel warm and welcome. Will keep coming back. Keep it up guys. You're doing great!!

    Aksarben Genisis just picked up a new Leg curl machine, hip thrust machine, and brand new cardio machines. Took my leg day to the next level. Plenty of space and great service. Favorite gym in Omaha by far!

😠 2nd edit: different day same genesis. Always at least 1 bandaid laying by the pool, 2 today. It's nice in the beginning until you go everyday and start to realize how terrible it is.
