My
brother
has
been
in
the
emergency
room
twice.
Both
times
were
very
difficult.
My
brother
has
severe
dementia.
The
staff
has
no
knowledge
on
how
to
handle
someone
with
dementia.
The
policies
of
the
emergency
room
are
that
the
patient
cannot
walk
out
of
the
room
to
ask
for
help
or
anything.
They
must
wait
for
the
nurse
to
come
in.
After
several
hours
I
went
out
of
the
room
to
find
out
what
was
goinig
on
as
my
brother
was
very
agitated.
So
far
we
had
not
seen
a
doctor
and
the
nurse
just
did
vitals.
They
called
security
on
me
for
walking
up
tothe
desk
to
ask
what
was
happening.
The
first
time
we
were
there,
there
was
so
much
laughing
and
loud
talking
at
the
desk,
I
went
out
after
about
two
hours
again
and
they
told
me
to
go
back
in
the
room
and
a
nurse
would
be
in
soon.
Maybe
about
half
an
hour
later
a
nurse
came
in
and
said,
"I
bet
you
thought
a
party
was
going
on."
and
laughed.
The
staff
has
no
consideration
for
the
time
they
make
the
patient
wait
for
some
care.
I
went
to
the
restroom
and
saw
a
woman
standing
in
the
doorway
of
her
room
trying
to
get
someone's
attention.
Her
room
was
not
visible
from
the
desk.
No
one
paid
any
attention
to
her.
I
told
them
she
was
looking
for
some
helpl.
The
guy
at
the
desk
said
he
would
be
there
in
a
few
minutes.
He
was
busy
on
his
computer.
We
were
there
for
7
to
8
hours
each
time.
It
was
very
very
hard
on
someone
with
dementia.
The
hospital
needs
to
evaluate
their
proceedures.
Their
level
of
compassion
is
almost
nil.
It
seems
thier
priority
is
to
ignore
patients.
