Overexpensive for an ok-ish taste, service and quality. The very high prices may be justified if there is a jazz live band, but not in a regular evening. Charging so much and giving fries and potatos croquettes from the freezer is just not ok. The rabbit was not clean, so I had to take pieces of bones from my mouth... Not very enjoyable. Given what you pay, I wouldn't return. For that price range I bet there are better places... It seems though as if it is very hyped.

Special jazz music Belgian Restaurant. Atmosphere was very nice on Saturday evening, although there was no live music performing. We had asked "Dame Blanch" for dessert, it came out 3 scoops vanilla ice cream with not properly melt chocolate sauce ( kind of heated from microwave). For this easy-made ice cream dish charged 9 euro, it was very expensive!

DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible experience. The food was bad and also OVERPRICED! The wine prices were not on the menu (and not mentioned - thank you waiter) and EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! The waiters were NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!

After a weekend of beer, chips and pate it was really refreshing to have a filling tasty salad with a nice glass of wine. The service and staff were friendly, prompt and attentive. Word of advice: make sure you book, plenty of people were turned away.

Great food, friendly staff. All sauces they serve with the meat dishes are gluten free. They also use a dedicated fryer for the fries, so this is great for coeliacs.

Lovely restaurant with a little bar area. Great service, excellent food! Beware large portions! We had a starter and a main each but probably should have had a starter to share, as 3 out of 4 of us couldn't finish our main even though it was delicious! Croquettes & Belgian stew were fantastic! Beautiful looking interior with dual level, open fire on the top level and stunning lighting, jazz instruments decorate the walls and complement the jazz music being played.

The flickering candle lit dinner and stained glass windows emphasize the dark wooden interior. As top jazz music flows, the atmosphere allows for the guests to truly enjoy the rich, melting beef stew. If you have ever had beef stew, think otherwise. Bistro Zwart Huis has the BEST stew i have ever had in my life. The amazing welcoming staff and inviting atmosphere is a key place to visit in Brugge. 15/10 would go again.

Delicious food it took a while for us to get our food but it was worth the wait. We seem to have been maybe forgotten? The décor is fantastic the fireplace adds so much to the ambiance of the whole place. One derful music playing kept the place lively, very crowded when we were there as they told us it is like that all the time!

Cool place for a late dinner, when most of restaurants in town have already closed the kitchen (9 or 10pm). You should try the traditional Belgium dish called Waterzooi … it’s really worth 👍🏼 The place is kind of rough, more like a pub not for those looking for gastronomic restaurants.

Good food and music venue, absolutely go when the live music is on, cover charge is 7.50 as advertised, food is good but on the pricey side however everything is as stated and advertised.

Only stopped for a late drink with friends and found it to be a very relaxed place. Very welcoming and excellent friendly service, well worth a visit, the food looked nice too.

Been here on a saturday night for a late dinner and the place was lively. Unfortunately no live music that night but perhaps we just missed out on this. The looks of the place are great. Staff were very nice as my wife got sick just after we ordered, when asked if it was possible to take the dinner with us the server mentioned that they were not normally doing this but he would see the possibilities. After a couple of minutes he came with a box containing our food in boxes usually used to restock the kitchen. So very intuitive to find a solution for us. Overall we would love to come back one day as the food was really good and would love to have some dinner with live music!

Excellent place, food was just great and beer choice is good as well. I had waterzooi which is a mix of different fishes in milk soup, really liked it. Would definitely revisit this place when in Brugge again.

Lovely building and well presented but the food, so key for a repeat destination was not where it should be. I ordered mushrooms on toast. The mushrooms were good but the other half of the dish, the toast, was simply the cheapest white sliced loaf you could find. Not restaurant quality at all. I wanted more food but for €17 i would expect something a lot better than that, so I did not order anything else Service was quick and friendly, I left a tip, but that was an avoidable own goal.

Great food, slightly above average prices, great service. The building is old and really has incredible charm. It made a great meal even greater. I sat by an upstairs window with a great view of the street below. The menu has a good selection of a variety of foods. I ate the beef stew which was outstanding. Highly recommended.

We went there as a large group of friends and we couldn't have been happier - the food, drink and atmosphere were excellent, and the service was excellent. We ordered a range of dishes including the Belgian Beef stew, Kangaroo steak, and Waterzooi. In particular, the manager Jacob was super friendly and accommodating, and looked after us so well. Would love to come back on a live music night.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of Brugge! BUT … there is a but (hence the 2*) regarding PRICE : the fries perfectly cooked (crunchy on the outside but tender in the center) but shrimp crevettes starters at 19€90 for just 2 croquettes? Really??Steep… they were nice but nothing fancy. The sort of croquettes you can find for half the price in many other places in Brugge Meat : very nice but again 29€ for a steak (which is oddly called filet mignon…usually that’s pork), steep. Beer : comparatively more expensive than most other “bistros”, less choice on the tap Music : none for our visit but that’s probably because of the Xmas period Sorry the Dark House, even though the surroundings are nice to see (so are a hundred other places in Brugge) I probably won’t be coming back unless your prices are changed.

We always come back here every time we’re in Bruges, and for good reason! Great food and atmosphere in an amazing building, and definitely child friendly! The staff were all great with our 2 and a half year old daughter. They always interacted with her when they came over and one person who wasn’t even waiting our table brought her some sweets before we left.

Attended Sunday evening jazz last night and was more than impressed by the experience. As expected, the restaurant was full and when we arrived we shared a table of 4 (two pushed together) next to another couple as there was no room to seperate them. With the live music, it didn’t matter so much. The interior was incredible, a really well renovated 15th century building with stained glass windows where the musicians perform. The first performers weren’t traditional style jazz- it reminded me of the music in From Dusk till Dawn/ True Blood. We really liked it. The food was also some of the best we’ve had in our 4 night stay in Bruges, and the best salad nicoise I’ve ever had- with fresh tuna. Cheese croquettes also delicious. Great restaurant and venue for live music.

With a party of 12. Told when we arrived that we could only order 6 different meals between 12 as would be difficult for kitchen to produce more than that for the size of our party. 3 of us had the Striploin Steak. I had a roquefort sauce that was brown in colour. The steaks waere chewy, really difficult to cut with a steak knife. This was the same for the 3 of us. Raised the issue with the waiter , he offered a the option of another dish, however we had no time to wait for another dish as the service was slow, we had been there for 90 mins already. We asked for a small reduction in in the bill because of the poor qualitybof the steak,, this was not accepted.

This place is worth the extra steps it takes to walk around the theater and the steep steps (not easy access) to the restaurant. We had the beef stew and garlic prawns. Both were good but the prawns lacked a bit of taste to reach the five stars level. Menu can be found online, not on print.

The streploin steak was awful not chewable at at all, the appetizers were ok, not sure if the rest of the menu is the same

Great atmosphere, very tasty food. We had the steak and veggie risotto. Both of high quality. Friendly service, good selection of wines and Belgian beers.

Food ok but lacks atmosphere. Tables stacked up so you basically are sitting in the conversation of the next couple. Feels like targetting the masses. Order with qr so prices and menu are online.

Very nice food and very friendly service. Had a delicious meal here earlier, didn't have a reservation but we were seated almost immediately (I would recommend booking a table though). Service was very friendly if a little slow (service areas seemed large for one guy!). Would have rated 5 stars but our waiter kept our change as a tip without asking...
