Great place, I highly recommend it! The terrace was really nice and comfortable to enjoy some beers. For lunch we had the ribs and the stew and they both were amazing. Last but not least, the service was very good, we had the nicest waiter who was very busy and still managed to do en everything right.

Very nice atmosphere, really friendly staff, very helpful, cheerful, talkative (in Dutch, English and Afrikaans). They give a lot of information. The tapas choice was really delicious: you get a pick of the other choices (spring roll, samosa, calamares) and home-made hummus and tapenade The bobotie pie and the lamb curry pie were perfect, the melktaart was very tasty and not too heavy (perfect for warm evenings). The triple chocolate brownie was served warm, with ice cream - deliciously baked. We were very happy to have found this place and we will return!

Best food we had in our 3 days in Brugge. A hidden gem in this beautiful city. Great service to boot. Ask for a little kick if you prefer the spice that is traditional for South African food.

Great service, very friendly people. Delicious food. We had the samoosas and calamari for starters, the chicken pie and lamb curry pie and don pedro for dessert. Everything was so delicious. Real South African food. We highly recommend this place. And also not expensive for a place that’s located in the center of Bruges. Great food, great service and great price. Beautiful place also.

Loved this South African restaurant! The atmosphere was lovely and the food was incredible. My friend and I got the bunny chow (a lamb curry served in bread; photo attached) and my veggie friend got the veggie pie. It had a selection of vegetarian options which made a nice difference to the many places that only had one (or no) veggie option. The man who served us (long curly hair with blue eyes) was super friendly and attentive too. Would 100% recommend!

Nice food and hospitality. If you want a well-cooked meal with great ingredients and no pretentions, come here. If you're looking for Michelin cuisine and fine dining, then this probably won't suit you. We'll certainly return the next time we're in Bruges.

I'd highly recommend eating here! The hosts are attentive and kind, but the food is the real showstopper. I got a stew containing porkcheek with fries and a tangy carrot salad on the side. My fiancé and I shared a bottle of the most wonderful Shiraz from 2015 and this paired amazingly with his pepper steak pie and my main dish. At the end we caved after being utterly stuffed, and both got the Malva pudding. This has been a wonderful start to our weekend in Brugge, thank you so much!!

Incredible! Stumbled upon this gem while on a weekend trip, and hadn't had SA food in 7 months. What a treat! We had the platter and the potjie for dinner with brandy & cokes - absolutely delicious food, and such incredible people behind it. We ended up chatting for ages, and even returning the next day for desert (which was equally as glorious - malva pudding and dom pedro). Would highly recommend and will definitely be making a couple trips back.

Incredible food! We needed to escape from the rain and stumbled upon Het Rand - we absolutely loved the food and beer on offer here. Food was cooked incredibly and had heaps of flavour, very hearty and warming in the cold. The service was great and felt like we were in a family owned restaurant. Don't skip the Pork Cheeks or Bunny Chow - both amazing 😍

I really don't think the food was good. It was very disappointing for us all. Although service was great, I thought the food was really not tasty or interesting enough. I had South African home cooked food few times and this was nothing like I had. Sad. 3 stars coz staff was nice.

The food was excellent & very large portions. We are so glad we were able to get in without a reservation! I highly recommend you give it a try. But make a reservation so you aren't disappointed.

This gem of a brasserie in the heart of Brugge never disappoints Had to go see what the hype was about - they have just opened a Bar downstairs from the actual restaurant in their Cellar. Beautiful space, ice cold beer on tap incl their very own Het Rand Pilsner, fantastic ! I enjoyed their premium South African Gin too. The Cellar is a must, great spot to get happy, lazy and a bit tipsy 😀 😄 😉

Fantastic location, deliciously filling food and amazing Hospitality. When we got there at around 8.30 pm the bells from the Belfort Bell tower were playing which made the experience even better! Highly recommended

Wonderful experience! Delicious food and personal experience from Richard and the owner, Kobus. Highly recommend, authentic South African food with a European touch! We had the bunny chow and pepper steak pie!! Super lekker! And the malva pudding was just the cherry on top. Thank you, Het Rand, for making our trip to Brugge so memorable.

Where customers are treated as friends. Warm and generous service. Food was served timely and in a professional manner. We had steak, beef burgers and pies. Really very delicious. Good wine! Best fries in Brugge! We will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Great food, friendly service and nice atmosphere. Great if you want to try some nice South African Specialties. Would recommend if you're feeling a bit homesick... Or just want a klippies & coke.

What an amazing experience! The food is super good and the waiter surprised us with a home made coconut/carrot soup as a starter. Great beers and amazing South African food. Even the vegetarian pie is a really good option for vegetarians!

Never had South African food before but will have it again. We had a lovely meal here everyone was really friendly and explained the dishes to us. Definitely worth a try.

I'm halfway through my meal here and I just had to write a review. Firstly this is my second time here the first time was fantastic and as such I decided to only write the review the second time round on the off chance it was my stomach doing the talking. The wine is exceptional, the food more so. The tapas plate is a marvelous mouthwatering platter that you instantly want to devour when it appears and the tapas is definately as good as it looks. The pies here are also absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong with this as a choice provided it is in your price range but you really do get your moneys worth! The service is also spectacular we came in a week prior when they had to close a bit earlier but oh boy are we glad we came around again! Always served with a smile that will leave you with a smile on your face and happiness in your belly! Go Het Rand!

Went there for lunch with my family. The food is amazing and tasty. The best fries I have ever eaten. The chicken for the kids was delicious, I had spare ribs, they were so tasty, my husband had beef pie and he really enjoyed, was melting in his mouth. The portions are worth every penny. Ooh the wine was very good too. Very friendly staff, typical African style welcoming. We will go back soon.
