I was on a culinary adventure in Belgium, and was quite excited to try this restaurant. Unfortunately, I left disappointed. It's a cute, homey restaurant on the inside. I was seated promptly. The service was great and both servers were helpful in guiding me through their vast beer selection. My food arrived fairly quickly, but the rib-eye I ordered was disappointing and overpriced. Shame on me for once again giving steak a try in the UK or Europe. I'm spoiled by great steak places in the US like Capital Grille, but have always found the steaks on the other side of the pond to be lacking. With their 'short chain' local menu and 60+ Euro prices for a rib-eye, I thought maybe I'd finally find a worthy Old World steak at Nieuw. Nope - mine was gristly and not especially tender. In the grand scheme of restaurant steaks, it was decidedly average and would have been okay at 30 Euros. At 2x that, it was just ridiculously overpriced. Of all the restaurants I visited on my 8 days, this is the only one I'd not return to and would guide other travelers to avoid (or at least, to avoid their featured rib-eyes).

Great service from the owners who are very passionate about the food. The steaks are perfectly cooked by the husband on an open fire. The camembeert starter with home made butter is unbelievable… without doubt our best meal in Brugge !!! ( don’t forget to email me the bread recipe !!)

A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about what they have on their menu. Everything we had was top notch! Their ribeye was cooked to perfection. They offer delicious sauces to go with it, but in my opinion it was perfect on its own!!

The most amazing steak, beautifully seasoned, cooked to perfection and you get to see this all cooked in front of you. The accompanying peppercorn sauce was also perfect, an amazing experience and one that I'll remember

Amazing, welcoming, true gem! We could only get a reservation for 2200, and they were able to get us in an hour early. You truly feel like family in this restaurant! Incredible food and service. Cozy comfortable and fun! We were a family of 5 and ordered 3 of the chef menu steaks with all the fixins. The salad dressing was out of this world and the steaks were majestic. Bubbly camambert with home made bread and home made butter!!! Local cola for the kids and the homemade deserts were so good!!! Highlight of our Bruge trip!

An amazing experience. I can't fault any part of this meal. The staff were welcoming and even took the time to inform us of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The cold cuts served as an appetizer were very flavorful. The starter of camembert and mains of Tuna and Filet steak were expertly cooked in front of the open fire. Our desserts were also fabulous. I have seen some reviews criticising the cost but really it's hard to put a cost against the quality and dining experience on offer here. Book ahead though, this isn't a large venue.

Thanks for this great evening. It was a fantastic finish for our journey. The steaks are really huge (400g) and service is perfect. When I come back to Bruges I definitely will visit the restaurant again. Thanks for - the two German guys.

We had a great evening at the „Nieuw Museum“! The staff is absolutely lovely! We tried many different beers and they we were all explained in detail. The grilled camembert and the Chateaubrillant were a highlight. It‘s situated in a very calm area with very little tourist traffic. Absolute recommendation!

Amazing dinner! The owners were so welcoming and the food was delicious. Nice beer selection with pairings. We all had steak which was prepared perfectly, and the Chimay cheese starter was also delicious.

This was not just a dinner, it was an amazing experience. Loved everything about it from start to finish. We will return! Amazing food and amazing people. Unforgettable.

I truly don’t have enough good things to say about our experience here! It was a top dining experience for us and definitely our favorite meal in all of Brugge. You won’t be disappointed! Koen and Marijke are fantastic hosts and make it all that much better. We can’t wait to return!

Outstanding experience from start to end. The steak was perfect and the drinks were well paired, with a great selection of beers and aperitifs. The staff are great, lovely owners and a great waiter served us. The attention to detail the owners put into their restaurant is amazing, from their menu to their service and products.

Everyone was so kind and amazing, they were really helpfull and made me and my parents laugh, with their great jokes. The food was (this is an understatement) absolutely AMAZING I ordered the salmon - which I would recommend to anyone who enjoys fish - and it was so juicy and flavourfull. It melts in your mouth in a way, its absolutely sensational! In addition, the staff were always looking out for you: they were constantly coming around saying "are you ok?" or "can I get you anything like another drink?" and the service was great. One of the best things was that they cooked the food in front of you, you could watch your steak being cooked to the perfect temperature. Nach kurzer Internetrecherche sind wir auf das Restaurant aufmerksam geworden und die tollen Rezessionen haben nicht enttäuscht! Auch wenn es mit ca. 60 Euro pro Person nicht ganz günstig ist, ist die tolle und gemütliche Atmosphäre gepaart mit tollem Service von der Inhaberin allein schon das Geld wert. Tolle Biere, kleine Aufmerksamkeiten und ein gelungenes, vom Inhaber selbst zubereitetes Essen runden diesen fantastischen Besuch ab. Wer etwas für Genuss in gemütlicher Umgebung übrig hat, ist hier goldrichtig.

What an amazing evening we had here! The husband and wife team were so hospitable, and the food was to die for 🤤 It was clear the passion these two have for providing a truly local food experience, and that came through in taste and atmosphere. Not only do you know where your food comes from, but you get to watch it get cooked in front of you. Just a fantastic culinary experience, thank you Marijke and Koen for our most memorable meal from our trip!

The casual space belies the high quality of the food and service. The wine list is well designed and I got to taste wines that were new to me before selecting one that was an excellent pairing with both the “amuse” course and the rich and smoky grilled Camembert. The meat plats were cooked exactly as ordered and generous portions. The potato was creamy but a bit tepid and we asked if it could be reheated. It came back so hot we had to wait before trying it. The salad ingredients were extra fresh (as typical but not universal in Europe), and the tiramisu was rich with a restrained sweetness that made it unusually good. We were unable to finish the meat (and amuse) and Marijke offered to package them for us with our leftover rolls. Together with some take-away soups we had a marvelous lunch the next day. Truly a memorable experience.

This place is truly special! We had the chef’s menu (grilled Camembert, steak with potatoes and salad, and tiramisu) and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had… ever! Not only that, but the owners are incredibly lovely and genuine people, and the atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. A perfect night out for a special occasion, and the highlight of our time in Bruges!

I've never eaten anything like this! They are cooking it as medium-rare and it's another level! Perfectly-balanced in every way and a big applause for the place! Beer selection and the harmony with the food were exemplary.

Had such a fantastic experience here! We ordered the AAA Ribeye Steak which was cooked to perfection! Both pepper and mushroom sauces paired so well with the steak. Staff was incredibly kind and helpful - even surprised me with a complementary dessert for my birthday! Would definitely recommend coming here.

A fantastic meal. Everything about the restaurant is relaxed, but service is superb and accommodating. Great recommendations and explanations for food or drinks. An absolute must visit for the best steak you're likely to have. Trust Koen when it comes to the cooking and Marijke for everything else.

Nice family restaurant. Very good service. I was served with nice cold kind of a smoked ham. The stake came get with a salad and fries which I liked very much. I ordered the rib eye (medium) and it was good. It was recommended to eat it medium rear but that was too much for me.

Nice homey restaurant with an open kitchen where you can see the meat being cooked on the grill. Staff and owners are welcoming and knowledgeable on what they do and serve. Everything that we ordered and had was delicious from the starters: beef tartarte, Camembert & Chimay cheese to the main dishes: Filet Pur, Bavette & Chateaubriand. A true hidden gem in Bruges.

Gorgeous fillet steaks with peppercorn sauce. Every element of the meal was fantastic - chips, salad, wine, everything! And lovely service. We will definitely be coming back.

Ok, I love reviewing GREAT restaurants. It just makes the review fun! Let’s start with the staff! Everyone there is great! We had Thomas as our main server both nights we were here, and his charisma and beer knowledge are beyond what we could have imagined. So much fun. Koen and Marijke were great too, and the second night I had a great seat where I could watch Koen work the grill all night long (totally forgot to take a pic of the amazing grill 🤦‍♂️). Then the beer list. Amazing! Not all 2,000+ beers from here in Belgium (thankfully!), but a very balanced selection covering whatever you fancy. We love sours and they had several winners! Finally, the food. While the pics are worth a 1,000 words, I’ll add a few: perfectly seasoned and cooked, fantastic flavors, and amazing sauces. We had the local ribeye, the lamb chops, and the shrimp. All were amazing, but I particularly loved the lamb chops. The pepper sauce on the ribeye was fantastic. Lastly, get one of the apps (we had the fennel sausage) because it’ll come with Koen’s homemade butter mix… absolutely amazing, it’s a mix he has worked on for more than a year, it’s heaven. Make a reservation though because the place fills up and there aren’t many walk-in seats available.

Great place and amazing meat! The prices are high but it’s worth the expense. The atmosphere is also great as it’s the staff.

We had a great evening at the restaurant. We had the farmers menu with beerpairing and it was an amazing experience! Koen and Thomas were super nice and the service was all in all perfect. The food was great, we were enjoying every meal. Thank you guys for the great night! When we're back in Brugges we're definitely coming here again.

Had an amazing experience there, the staff were so welcoming and the food was so tasty (big portions)! I'm a big fan of tartare and this was the best I've ever had! Homely setting with high class food, can't beat this!
