While the modern section is distinctly lacklustre, the older art is all well worth the visit. The only disappointment was the minimal information in the information accompanying the art. You are able to follow along on a phone via their website, but the descriptions are sometimes quite short and don't always explain much about the detail of the painting. It is also a little on the pricey side, but that's everything in Bruges, so it is perhaps not surprising.

This is a delightful, relatively small gallery with very fine artworks from the 13th to the 20th Century, those till the 19th primarily of artists linked to Bruges and the wider Flanders. The Burgundian Court in Bruges could attract the finest artists and did so. There are many artists you will recognise, and the ones you don't will make you wonder why you haven't heard of them. It is a well hung and well curated display. If you like fine art this is an hour or so very well spent.

Other museums in Europe make sure to enforce silence in the rooms - this was not the case. Wished respectfulness to the works and rest of the visitors had been higher.
