Maybe the worst experience ever for a train station. Not enough lockers for our stopover so had to walk around with our bags. A kid grabbed our backpacks and ran with them, but our daughter chased him down. We were paranoid that our bags would be stolen the rest of our short time there. No help from the offices. The wait was long in the domestic office, but 50+ people long for the international office so I didn't bother. Not to mention that rail lines were under repair to Amsterdam so what would have been 2 train changes ended up being 3 when our train broke down near the Dutch border, leaving hundreds of people waiting (see photo). Met a Belgian guy who says it happens nearly every weekend he travels. Belgian Rail is an absolute mess.

It's a nice station, but very busy. Also around the Midi area outside of the station there is alot of homeless emigrants bums that sleep there, its full of trash graffiti every smell of piss, very sketchy place to be in specially around the Midi tower.

For sure one good connecting point in Brussels, it is the biggest train station in the town, and you can go literally to everywhere in Europe from that station. There are many platforms and trains departing from Every minute, so be there in advance to find your platform, train are precise on time and will not wait. Outside the station is not very nice, lot of homeless people, trash, even that is quite safe, just take the normal care of crowed places.

I came here for my train to Paris with a rather urgent washroom calling. Little did I know, you have to pay cash only to access the bathroom in this public station. Needing to sign up for internet access using an email address that - surprise - I don't have access too since I'm trying to get WiFi from the station itself was also a bad experience. Overalls worst major train station I've been to in Europe so far.

Dirty, seedy train station that smells like urine. A shame to welcome international (Eurostar/Thalys) travellers to Belgium this way :-(. 2 stars for the many shops there are though.

Clean statation with helpful staff and clear information. Let down by the โ‚ฌ1 toilets that smelt really bad, with only one wash basin tap working, so you had to queue! This kind of service is free in the UK!

Very confusing station with irrelevant signage blocking relevant information everywhere. Information that is relevant is bad, confusing and changes all the time. Platforms change so often everyone just stares at the big screen in the common area before running to their platforms. Every train closes it's doors right on time, then stands still for multiple minutes. Reading many other reviews I'm not the only one to notice this.

One of the most surrealist situations I ever had. My partner and myself bought 2 tickets in the machine located in the entrance of the terminal. The machine only gave us 1 ticket although we waited 1 minute for the second ticket. After this unfortunate event we went to the claim the ticket to the ticket office. After losing more than 30 minutes and many people for the customer service involved, they notified us that โ€œthe system indicates that the machine delivered the ticket and therefore they cannot provide us a new ticketโ€. Not only that, the rude girl told us that we probably took the first ticket and left without waiting for the second one, as if it was our fault, really embarrassing. To make it even worse the girl gave us a piece of paper to submit a complaint. A piece of paper that we had to fill with a pen. 19th century stuff. Not sure if she was laughing at us doing that. In any case, we had to pay for a 3rd ticket and lost more than 30 minutes of our holidays. Embarrassing customer service.

The international ticket office is among the slowest and worst managed ones I've ever seen around the world. The times I've risked to miss my train or actually missed it because of this are countless. There's a lady in particular who seems to have some sort of manager role, who is particularly unpleasant and impolite towards passengers and also is the slowest one in the office, engaging in conversations with other colleagues rather than working after or sometimes even while serving a customer and all this when the office is packed with people clearly waiting for their turn and possibly being in a hurry. This is unacceptable. Brussels Midi is an international station, not a bar.

A central and one of the big train stations in the country. Connects to most big nearby cities in Europe at an affordable price. Well connected and can get to most places in the city from here. Some of the escalators didn't work. Think it was on Platform 19. Has enough eateries and shops around. Well sign posted however I did find the station to be unclean. Walking through to the underground and smelled like pee. Could be cleaner.

Brussels-Midi/Zuid railway station offers a variety of services and amenities for travelers. Some things you can do at the station include: Take a train: The station is a major hub for both domestic and international trains, with connections to cities across Belgium and Europe. Shop: There are several shops and convenience stores located within the station, where you can purchase items such as newspapers, magazines, snacks, and souvenirs. Eat: The station has a variety of restaurants and cafes, serving a range of cuisines and food options. Lounge: There are several lounges in the station where you can relax and wait for your train, such as the Thalys Lounge for Thalys customers, Eurostar Lounge for Eurostar customers. Pick up or drop off Luggage: The station has left-luggage facilities where you can store your luggage while you explore the city. Travel information: Information desks are available in the station to provide you with information on train times, destinations, and connections. Currency exchange: There are several currency exchange offices in the station where you can change your money into euros. ATM and Banking: There are ATMs and bank branches in the station for your convenience. Accommodation: Brussels Midi Station provides accommodation services for travellers looking to book a hotel room in the area, you can find some hotels connected to the station. Please note that some of the services I mentioned may be limited due to the current situation with COVID-19, so it's always best to check with the station or the operators before your trip.

If you travel with bus abroad, You can't wait for your bus here after 22pm the police will kick you out the station by force if they must unless you take the train. This is to protect those who take the train but not those who take the bus. Not blaming police since they are instructed by those higher ups. I blame the mayor if any bus passenger gets robbed. Very sad times, I'm glad London is not this bad.

As most of railway stations on Belgium, you can go from this station to many destinations, also you can find many many restaurants and shops inside it. Most of times the trains will be on time, you can buy the tickets from the tickets window or from the machines. Wearing masks is mandatory once you entered and hygiene sanitation everywhere. Most of time the station will be congested but you can reach your train.

There's nowhere to buy food after the security and passport checks. There's a fridge with some sad looking leftovers, but mostly empty. There's also nowhere to sit and I'll be waiting for another hour or so. Toilets are dirty.

As an American, I am already amazed at the quality and cleanliness of train stations in Europe. Likewise, I'm terribly embarrassed at the train service offered in the US.

Horrible experience for the second time. Train cancelled the last minute, no communication about the necessary steps and while they claimed we would be able to board on the next one, half of the passengers had to queue for 2 hours to finally travel 3 hours after the initial departure time. They also said we are eligible for a refund but guess what?! By exchanging our initial train ticket to the one three hours later we are entitled to nothing . Better for the environment maybe - for my mental health definitely not!

Very complicated, it does not that noone working speak English. I was going to buy international tickets and then I pushed English. (I am from Norway) . I said hello and the guy "helping" me answered in some other language. I told him I did not understood what ever language he spoke and wondering why he didn't speak English (which I requested on automat).. and then he anwered: "I thought you were an axxhole dutch that expect everyone to speak English! " What to say. I could be from Belgium. His job was to answer in English... And a public servant speaking of a whole country (their neighbor no less) as "axxholes"!! It is in my view not that rare. Many Belgians working in service probably like their job, if they didn't have to do any service. It is a whole country with hotelowners who like their job, if not for the guests.. (Fawlty Towers). Incredible

The station is not open 24 hours! The station is open since 3.45 a.m and closed 1.20 a.m So please be prepared if you have a midnight bus Departure or arrival in the winter because u must wait outside for the closed time. If u travel with a lot of bag please be careful and be aware of your belongings! Because there're thieves and I have seen two of them in between 3 hours.

The accessibility service doesnโ€™t help you the way it should. I spent 30 minutes calling without answers, after a while I got a reply and they said that I never called and that itโ€™s impossible that nobody wasnโ€™t answering. Then, They put me in a bad situation, saying that they wouldnโ€™t reach the train station I was headed to in France cause thatโ€™s not their responsibility but that they would book my assistance. Once at the train station, no assistance was booked, I ended up having no help with my wheelchair, and struggled.

Along with Brussels Central and Brussels North, Brussels South is one of the main stations in the city. I arrived from Mons and left for Liege form this station. Both time I found it each to navigate and easy to read departure boards. There's a good range of shops, especially eateries, but also some expensive looking shops selling watches, jewellery and cosmetics. I can only say that the food choices is pretty good. Not an attraction as such, more of a station you'd be happy to use.

The station itself inside is safe and clean, train personal, guards and police often pass by checking around. Lots of shops, restaurants, Caffรจ and other activities in it while you are waiting in line. Outside is terrifying... smells of pee lots of doubted people not feel safe at all especially late evening.

Brussels will be remembered for my luggage being stolen. Very unexpected that in western Europe our luggage got stolen during the day while we were traveling from Amsterdam to Brussels. My first MacBook, and other travel tickets for remaining journey were all gone.

The station itself is nice. Itโ€™s much bigger than my expectations. Well equipped. Lots of information centers and public facilities. But what I didnโ€™t like about is that itโ€™s packed with strange people approaching you every direction you go!

Despite being one of the largest train stations in Belgium, there was a lot of chaos and it was very confusing when trying to access the Eurostar. There was a distinct lack of signage, over run escalators, and passport control took 5 times as long as it did in London.

The international ticket office was extremely helpful and understanding. The man who helped us went out of his way to help us find the best route home after our delayed connection. During Christmas it was much appreciated. The office is clean and welcoming. Their poem machine is a good entertainment while waiting.

Today after arrival with Eurostar and going down the stairs leading to the main concourse, there was a strong odour of urine as if people relieved themselves there. It is becoming a really big problem because the station's toilets are not free.

  • 1/5 Umendra S. 9 months ago on Google
Shame, on an international station you charge 1โ‚ฌ from the passengers to use the toilet! Not seen it even in developing countries. All other facilities and experience of the station are killed here at the toilet.

  • 4/5 Choi H. 11 months ago on Google
Overall station experience was not bad. Shops, dining, and arrival and departing. Both were actually quite quick and easy. No money exchange from Eurostar depart and arrival. And watch second hand doesn't seem to stop as Swiss one.

An interesting station with a different variety of trains such as Intercity, Highspeed, regional and more! The only welcoming part of this station is the highspeed part of the station. The rest of the platforms stay unclean and low to the ground. The busiest train station in Belgium is very unwelcoming when you compare it to Liรจge-Guillemins or Antwerpen-Centraal station. This is why I give it a 4 star instead of 5.

Awful experience. Needed to go from Brussels to Bruges, asked for help getting to the correct platform. Confirmed multiple times that we were in the correct place. Ended up going in the opposite direction. Wasted many hours of travel time that should have only been a 60 min train ride. Very disappointed.

  • 4/5 Andy R. 10 months ago on Google
A large station in the centre of Brussels. Generally efficient and reasonably clean. Exiting the Eurostar takes a few minutes as you all have to negotiate a short walk and some stairs (or wait for a lift). The main concourse is very large with a diverse array of shops and restaurants. It has direct links to the city metro and tram system.

  • 3/5 Aidan F. 10 months ago on Google
You can get a train to loads of places from here, and there are loads of facilities (small supermarket, eateries, other stores), but apart from that this station is an architectural disappointment, no character at all whatsoever. In addition, the immediate area surrounding the station has all the characters that you would expect from around the area of a western European major train station. I got off the last Eurostar and I was certainly walking rather quickly...
