Went in for lunch today and they had already stopped serving sandwiches, even though they are open until 5:30. Thought that was very odd. Second time this has happened to me so make sure you call before you go. The decorated cookie we bought also looked pretty sloppy compared to the ones in Boone. I would definitely suggest visiting the Boone location over this one. Very disappointimg.

Hand made from scratch no preservative donuts rolls and pastries, custom decorated cakes, pies, cupcakes and breads. Best bakery in town no question. Lunch sandwiches made with the breads as well, soups and salads served daily.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and everything I got was absolutely awesome!! I ordered a iced raspberry chai latte, breakfast sandwich, and a glazed doughnut. Service was also very quick even with multiple other customers who had ordered food and drinks, which was great since I was in a bit of a rush. Highly recommend and hope to be back soon!!

I decided to check out this bakery after seeing advertisement on Hwy 30 on my way to northern Iowa for Thanksgiving. They had a nice selection of baked goods still available even though it was the day before Thanksgiving. I tried a Dutch Letter which was as good as one I've had in Pella. A couple of other items I purchased I found to be way too sweet, it took away from being able to enjoy the actual pastry. Staff were all very friendly & helpful.

Delicious pastries and a good place to sit and eat them and have a conversation.

Highest quality goods in all of Iowa. My little brother and I used to walk up every single morning and get a donut while Mom slept... Now I live in Ames and visit the Ames location on my day off occasionally. Their quality or taste haven't changed! The best donuts you could possibly get, amazing sandwiches and really friendly staff!! Dutch Oven is the best

My son and I went in to pick out donuts for Father’s Day and had a blast. The donuts were fresh and the coffee was great as well! This place is delicious!

Van Hemert's Dutch Oven Bakery is a wonderful place to have a nice lunch. We enjoyed our on the light side with soup and half a sandwich plus you get a cookie. There are many baked goods to temp you. Tried my first Dutch letter and I was in heaven! Love the almond flavor! Also my friend got the lemon windmill which was yummy too. They also have cookies and cupcakes. We both bought some bread too. Mine was day old but you sure could tell as I sampled both when I got home. You can't go wrong for fresh bread and delectable goodies plus a nice lunch too!

Won’t ever go back there again!!! They don’t have a set price for a dozen of donuts anymore they sale each donut individually !!!!!! The smallest one is a 1.20😂😂😂😂 that’s crazy!!!! You can buy one dozen there or go to Casey’s and get 3 dozen for the same price!!!! They must be hurting for money because they want to do people dirty!!! What’s this world coming to!!!! You’re selling donuts for crying Out loud!!! Not gold!!!

Highly recommended. I stop here whenever I am in Ames. Things sell out usually sooner in the day it seems, like most good bakeries, but I still have items I like to bring home!

Came all the way to this place for donuts during their open hours only to find the shop closed, doors locked and no one in sight yet the "open" sign was still on. Pretty disappointing for them to close while they still advertise being open. Probably won't waste my time going there again

Ordered 165 Donuts for a large Event and every Donut looked so good and the 2 Donuts I ate were the best Donuts ever. Also, placing such a large order was extremely easy and they were very friendly, professional and efficient. Also their price was very fair. Best Donuts ever!

Dutch letters, windmills, homemade sourdough bread. This place is a delight.

Such a difference from the Boone location. They'll let you make an order, and then wait until you get there to tell you they don't have what you ordered. They stop selling food in the middle of the day. Very confusing.

Great local bakery. Pastries, donuts, pies, bread, etc. All really good. They also have lunch food. Sandwiches and what not.

We had glazers, a cinnamon twist, a mocha donut, a chocolate pudding donut, and a Bismark. There's was alot of arguing once we got into the car on who got what!!!! They were super fresh and delicious.

I ordered a cake at the last minute, and they did a great job even with short staff. The baker went out of her way to make what I wanted, and it turned out both beautiful and delicious. Thank you!
