My husband and I stopped by here the other evening to watch a little March Madness. The bar itself is fine, noisy, nothing to write home about—but he and I both watched in amazement as the bouncer (heavyset bearded guy) flat out harassed a group of younger women outside. As a woman I felt really uncomfortable watching this interaction, which seemed sexual in nature and really intended to humiliate them. We left shortly after and I can say I’ll never go there again—and if any of the women who were part of this group bring a claim against the bar for allowing this guy to work for them I’ll be happy to be a witness for them.

Security guard (John with locs) berated me for using the men’s bathroom. I will take responsibility for being with my two other friends but he proceed to hone in on me saying “if I can’t use the female’s bathroom, you’re not allowed to use ours” which is incredibly rude because he didn’t not know me or what is in between my legs. When I didn’t accept his apology, he kicked me out. John berated me, accused me of disrespecting him and embarrassed me in front of my friends. I was confused. I volunteered to leave on my own because he would not stop verbally harassing me. He proceeded to tell me he was yelling because of the volume but when I did not immediately accept his apology, he forced me to leave. I felt targeted and unsafe because there were two other people in the stall but I’m the only one he kicked out because I didn’t accept his apology. And I didn’t need to if he was being disrespectful from the beginning. If you look at the cameras, I didn’t even want to go in the men’s restroom but only went because my friends knew I had to. In all, this was a terrible experience and I’m not shocked to see the reviews saying the same thing regarding security.

With one minute left in a game, they changed the channel without any notice. The outcome of the game changed in that one minute. The manager didn’t care and was dismissive. He actually was passive-aggressive and rude. I’d find another bar that appreciates your business.

I don't like to jump to the conclusion that a place is racist but my god I have to say this place fits the bill. They just happened to continuously say all the groups of South Asian kids were too drunk while everyone else was okay. I will be the first to point out when my friends are too lit to get in somewhere, but they objectively were not in the wrong in this instance and this place seemed to conveniently only be calling us out. I will never be coming here again nor will I recommend this place to anyone else. You can easily find somewhere better to go with people who are not racist.

Big Space with lots of T.V.'s. The prices on drinks are reasonable. I didn't get around to trying the food but maybe next time. The music is good and they also have very good happy hour specials. On the Saturday that I was there it was a full house but it didn't feel crowded because it is so spacious. I'll have to return for their happy hour and to try their food.

Their steak sandwich is really good, and came with a side of delicious fries. My friends got the wings and they enjoyed them. Great prices on drinks, especially if you go during happy hour. Friendly bartenders plenty of TV's hung up around the bar, and ample seating.

Horrifying and cruel experience! First of all, if you want to have a customer spend 6-7 minutes getting their bags checked, get a scanner instead of a guy making you uncomfortable by opening the tiniest of pockets of the bag and asking questions. Any which way, this isn’t even why I’m writing this review. The guy at the door checking IDs was literally at the top of his voice and misbehaving with my friend. All he wanted to convey was to make us stand on the left side of the entrance and he could’ve said so politely. He wouldn’t stop yelling making authoritative statements such as “ Am I not loud and clear enough, get out of the way”. Not only because this is hospitality industry which thrives on good customer service but even as a human being his behavior was disturbing. Needless to say we are never coming back but I’m genuinely concerned how have the owners employed such people?

I’ve been at hair of the dog for more than 20 times. Not only the security is always rude and looks like he hates his job, but the manager is also really disrespectful. I used to come every weekend but after today’s disrespect only cause my jeans were 1% ripped and wasn’t allowed in, even though I’m a regular client. So unfortunate that people like these don’t appreciate steady customers who have been here during good or hard times are being treated that like.

Quite literally one of the most TRASH places I’ve ever been. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME UNLESS YOU ENJOY SUFFERING.wish I could erase my memory of knowing this place. Security out front is trash, rude, heartless, and need to be fired immediately. Again, if I wasn’t clear enough in this review, the PLACE IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Don’t waste your money here.

HAPPY HOUR!!! All drinks 1/2 off high noon was $5.44! Such a great happy hour!!! Love the vibe, and how big the space is! Also, bar tender was so kind and ready to serve us efficiently!!! Great place!!

Was here yesterday - guy at the bar was harassing me and my friends in front of the security guard. We repeatedly asked him to go away, after he touches my friend inappropriately, and he would not leave us alone. We then asked the security guard to kick him out because we felt unsafe and the security guard REFUSED…. So many things absolutely disgusting about this. This bar, and that security guard, witnessed assault and did NOTHING.

Security who worked this past Saturday in the day time was horrible!! Been here a few times before without issue, but this time the security wanted to give me a hard time. Not sure if he was having a bad day and taking it out on guests. He was rude and would not allow me in with shorts on....even though I came a few weeks ago with shorts on. Additionally, there were several people inside with shorts on, and I kind of wonder if it was because of my skin color that I wasn't allowed in with shorts ????

The security team is extremely racist- I am white and drank more than my friend who got rejected for “being too intoxicated” all she did was show her **legal id** and since she was not white they didn’t let her in. they were so rude and didn’t even consider the fact that she was very calm and showed now signs of being too drunk to enter a bar where she was too drunk??? I will never be returning here, this is the first time where I’ve first hand experienced blatant racism

I waited on line for 30 minutes on my birthday and they told me I was not allowed to come in … I had a cup of Pepsi and the bouncers told me I had to go elsewhere because of open alcohol. I had no alcohol but there are signs saying you have to pay the bouncer to skip the line. Good luck getting in

The food is great and the drinks are good with some deals for happy hour but the scene after 9pm is boring. Jan.2024, overcharged and gave themselves a tip. I love the food but it’s Manhattan I’ll go somewhere else

This place used to be fun before they started letting their weirdo security team go on full power trips and come up with random “enforced dress codes” for certain people but other can come in wearing the exact same thing? Literally so many other places in the lower east with better music and FAR less weird and unwelcoming security which is a shame because the bartenders are cool for the most part, but the security is TRASH TRASH TRASH🗑️you can tell they live very measly powerless lives so the few hours they have on the job power tripping they will take FULL advantage, don’t go their with females friends too they’ll try to let only the girls in and turn away certain dudes highkey predatory behavior. Fun spot to listen to music and dance with friends. The line gets pretty long now and I had to wait 40 mins to get in on a Saturday night around 11pm.

Welcome to an AMAZING Football bar in Manhattan, with non-Manhattan prices! Great crowd for Monday night NFL (a lot of jerseys, people really into the game) - and awesome deals. Domestic pitchers were $12, domestic pints were $5, etc. Food specials are awesome as well - and highly recommend the nachos. While we're on the subject of nachos - I've been hurt by this menu item before, as I'm sure many good readers of this review can relate. One orders the dish, only to find someone dumped half a bag of Tostitos on a plate, effortlessly tossed a thin layer of cheese over the pile - maybe some chicken, beans, tomato, etc. Once you're done the top row, you're left with dry, salty chips - and nothing else. I want to give my sincere THANKS to Hair of the Dog for renewing my faith in nachos. The plate in the picture had the weight of a decent kettlebell (counts as a workout), and it was ALL toppings. Layered!!! L-A-Y-E-R-E-D!!! No sound on the TV's, which is totally fine because all of the late 90's - early 00's pop-punk playing more than makes up for it. The beer pong table is also a great touch. Stanton St. has a ton of great little spots, and Hair of the Dog goes under the 'must visit' column. Celebrate some touchdowns while crushing cheap drinks, eating delicious pub food, and singing Ocean Avenue at the top of your lungs. This place rules.

Doorman said my pants were sagging when they weren’t. I felt I was the best dressed all white everything. Then they said they couldn’t call a manger who was supposedly watching the camera. I literally walked in after showed my id they asked if my jeans were jeans then they pulled me outside and said no entry. Horrible experience

The slushy drink was over priced, and the buffalo wings was all wrong twice. They need to hire a new cook! The waitress helpful with calming my nerves cause all I ordered was wings & fries with a slushy lemonaid drink which was short of alcohol. I had to order a extra shot. HIRE a NEW COOK! Not coming back here & dont recommend this place!

Great happy hour specials if you’re looking for a affordable drinks in New York. Lots of screens for all sports and played good music. Would drink again.

Decently priced drinks for Manhatten combined with a lively dance floor. A perfect place to pre-drink or even club if other clubs do not permit entry.

This place was tremendous. They have great deals happening all of the time, you should check them out! Great place to hit up on a weekday in LES but weekends get too crowded. Bartenders are very attentive and make sure you have a good time!

Bar was fun. The bartenders were nice, bit of an older crowd when we went but it was earlier in the night. Drinks are reasonably priced and good. Will definitely come back.

You can count on having a good time at Hair of the Dog. They had the best music of any bar I’ve been to. It will get packed later on and guys might not get in. If you show up at 9/9:30 though, you’ll have no problem getting in.

Think Boston or SF vibe. It's bro-y but fun and the music is always loud (for me that's fun). Food is definitely solid and there's always a very up beat, meet some strangers atmosphere. If you're into that vibe you will love this place.

I've been coming here for years. Staff is always nice and the food and drinks are really good. The bathroom is always clean too! Big plus for a bar I feel.

Hair of the dog is my new favorite bar to visit while I'm in NYC the owners also own the uptown social club in my hometown Charleston SC definitely loved the atmosphere and vibes will be back soon.

Last night, my group and I visited Hair of the Dog for some drinks and we were blown away by the amazing vibe of the place. The atmosphere was fantastic and it really added to the enjoyment of our night out. The staff were very friendly and accommodating which made the experience even better. We ordered the APA beer which were perfectly cold and refreshing, just the way we like them. We also had the opportunity to try out their nachos, which some of my group members really enjoyed. Although I'm not a huge fan of bar food personally, I can say that they definitely hit the spot for those who did enjoy them. Overall, we spent around 4 hours at Hair of the Dog and it was an absolute blast. The vibe, service and drinks were all on point and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great sports bar to visit. We can't wait to come back

What the hell do you mean they do not take “specifically Colombian IDs”? Are you suddenly not allowed someplace of you’re not American? Any other place would allow a passport but they didn’t so…

I had a really negative experience at this bar last night. I’ve been here a few times and have enjoyed it as it’s one of the two bars I semi-frequent as im new to the city. However, last night i was with two friends who witnessed the whole ordeal when we moved from the table in the corner to the floor and were just standing & chatting. I had a white claw and the bouncer (was wearing goggles) came up to my and crushed my white claw and shoved me. I have zero idea why this happened and I bet if you watch the camera footage from inside, you will too. This incident occurred between 10:55 and 11:00 PM. It was interesting because he didn’t even throw me out (which you think would’ve happened had I done something). I’ve never written anything like this, however it was a pretty frustrating ordeal Oh and I forgot to mention, I spoke to somebody in charge last night about this and he told me to just stay on the other side of the bar from that bouncer. It didn’t sound like it surprised him

Amazing place! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 The burger was just amazing. I had the AJ's Fried chicken Sammy and it was just so crunch and tasty. The chips were perfectly fried. Never até anything like this. Price is super affordable and service is of great quality. Anyone wanting to eat good burger and drinking some beers while watching any sport this is the place to come by.

Have been here 2 times with my girls and both times DJ Cheezy was spinning huge bops, loved the pop music, very sing-alongable and danceable. Tater tots are out-of-this-world delicious here. Ralph at the door was also really nice. Hope this place is around for a long time!

This place markets itself as a “sports bar”, however, if you come on a Friday or Saturday evening while wearing a sports jersey, security will turn you away at the door because of their dress code. This place has a poor marketing strategy and can’t decide if it wants to be a nightclub or a sports bar. Go elsewhere if you’d like to enjoy sports on a weekend. Other than that, the DJ and atmosphere are fun.

Maia was incredible! Made sure our group was properly attended to and Maia made sure we always had a full glass!! forever grateful that she made our reunion one for the ages!!

Lauren was the best bartender we could have had here. She was kind and personable and made our experience here so fun and entertaining. We’re from Long Island and we definitely will be back to have to opportunity to enjoy her company. Hair of the Dog is the place to go!
