I haven't been to the members-only University Club for perhaps two years. It is important to know that the Club has a strictly enforced dress code: Men do not need to wear ties in the summer months but a minimum of a sports jacket and slacks are mandatory and jeans and shorts are forbidden. Phones are also not to be seen (although you can check something quickly and discreetly under the table). There was no line for the elevator at 1:00 pm and the upstairs luncheon room was half-filled with beautifully-dressed people who lunch. Service was excellent; food was not auctioned (where the waiter asks who gets what dish); portion sizes were large (and my host and I could barely finish two courses each). The menu did not have prices on it (or, at least, my guest menu didn't). I'm always happy to return to the University Club when the opportunity presents itself.

Heaven right in the middle of Manhattan! Immaculate service and an astonishing interior. This has been by far my favorite place I’ve visited in New York.

I was a guest 10 years ago (10 years ago, not 100 years ago), & women were not allowed in the pool. The library is beautiful, but I didn't stay long as I was asked to "change into more 'casual attire'". Women not allowed in the pool. And absolutely no jeans, ever.

I always get a little anxious working in NYC wedding venues — often parking is tricky, venues can have short timelines for vendor ins/outs. The team at the University Club is always willing to help, the food was delicious, the venue was stunning and so clean. It was such a great wedding that I'll never forget.

When we speak of elite, this is an example if not the pinnacle. Strong and bold, the building holds secrets in plain sight. It shows off, without being overbearing. If you have the chance to go inside their doors, wearing your finest suits and dresses, cherish it. It is not a common place. Insider tip: They request that you refrain from cell phone use, except in designated places.

University Club is an iconic NYC institution. It's an upscale experience with wonderful service. Might be limited to members only.

Extraordinary place. The doormen are polite and professional. The building is elegant and classic. The menu, food, and services are outstanding. The bar and bartender are a great joy. I have met so many amazing people, young and young-at-heart, all very interesting and accomplished. I have had the most interesting and lovely conversations and connections at the bar. Overall, a most elegant and enjoyable place to be, any city, not just NYC. Oh, great athletic facilities too. Go check it out. You will be richly rewarded.

It is difficult to assign a rating as I really did not experience much about the property. I was in for a conference andnI was only there for two nights, so it was simply about a place to sleep. I did love the older feel of the property and the rooms, while modernized, still had an older charm. My only interaction with staff was the front desk and security sitting at the front entrance. I found each to be very pleasant and welcoming.

Gracious and old school. A needed antidote to the nihilistic informality that we are surrounded with today.

Extremely rude, anybody who answers the phone will sound completely miserable, and will not help you. Their proclaimed premier service is not seen with their staff.
