I highly recommend Sequoia park! Enjoy true California nature. You will love the hikes around those big ancient trees. The Moro rock will give you great views of the park. A must to do in CA.

SEKI national parks are a must visit, if you are able. The museum has exhibits and rangers to help explain the geology, biology, and history of the park.

The Giant Forest Museum is about the giant sequoia trees in the Sequoia National Park in southern California in which the museum is located. This place is a must see for anyone... young, old, used to hiking or unable to hike because everyone can see the surrounding giants and be awed by simply driving through the park. We are not hikers and I have an arthritic knee so we were only able to walk the short walks but the walks we took advantage of would accommodate a wheelchair as well. We entered through the SW entrance and drove up mountainsides before reaching the trees and forested areas; the scenery was breathtaking! For me it was breathtaking for the scenery but also quite literally because I have a fear of heights and we drove up mountainsides to get to the trees but I'd do it again. My husband was patient and drove slowly to accommodate my fear. If you absolutely could not take the height, there are more National Parks protecting the giant redwoods in northern California that does not include mountainsides. My 82 year old mother and myself drove through the northern park about 4 years ago and it was equally beautiful. We both speak of it often. There may have been hiking trails there as well but I am not aware of them. I have included pictures but the truth is the pictures just can't do them justice.... you need to be there to take in the majesty of these trees! I encourage all to at least drive through one of these parks if it is at all possible. We drove almost 3,000 miles to get there and it was well worth it!

In this museum there were things to look at, they had examples of how these trees were formed and how much they weighed before. The museum has several things to look at. Here you can buy things to take with you and keep as a souvenir for coming and visiting this park.

Museum was closed but the gift shop was open and the attendant was AWESOME! I wish I got her name for the review. Sweaters and Tshirts extremely overpriced imo lol so I refused fo purchase them but I did get a few souvenirs to support the park and I also rounded my change up to support the park. Would've been nice to see the museum but maybe next year!

One of our main reasons to come to California was to see the giant Sequoia's. They were beyond expectations. We stopped here doing the tourist routine. I was surprised they not only were knowledgeable but had a really nice variety of souvenirs. The inside also has some wonderful large pics of parts of the park over the years and some interesting displays to look at. It's well worth stopping at. We picked up a few things.

Sadly by the time I came in the place was closed. But they definitely had some nice flora around the museum. The most incredible one is a Sequoia tree which is around 2200 years old called Sentinel. I am sure museum would be interesting too.

Wow! It's amazing that something so big comes from such a small pine cone. We had a great time amongst these giants. There are lots of trails for all kinds of skill levels. I would recommend going early. The park is usually open all day, put parking can be limited. Be form warned the roads winding.

This was the highlight of Sequoia national Park for me! The giant forest is gorgeous! I have never seen anything like this in my entire life and will never forget it! I hope for humanity’s sake that this is always around! It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been in my life!

Beautiful little museum in the park. Great bathroom break. Friendly rangers willing to help you plan your day hikes. A lot of room to park and easy trails right off of the museum. Give yourself some time to chat with the rangers read about some history and see all the beauty and majesty of God's creation!

You need to get the whole experience if you are a first timer like myself. I really recommend the museum because even though is small you will learn a lot about the sequoia trees here. There's also a few trails close that you shouldn't miss. If going on high season avoid weekends and be an early riser and you'll be fine.

Do the big trees trail next to the museum. Amazing people working at the museum (twice experienced) and reception there to answer any questions. Really good people!👍 to go into the park, buy the ticket online so you don’t have to wait at the gate.

Petite museum with a good selection of national park memorabilia. A great home base to bus up to Moro Rock, as the parking up there is very limited.

The color and size of the trees were impressive. There are many fairly easy trails to explore. It was late fall on the weekday at the time of my visit, and the parking lots were full.

It was worth a quick visit to learn more about the Sequoia Trees and park. It also has a small gift store.

Very small museum and very crowded. Gift shop is small and well and very expensive. Parking was the only good thing about this place, so you can take the shuttle to everywhere else.

Great place start sequoia park. The park rangers inside the museum were kind and helpful. We took the free shuttle service from museum to other points and we found the shuttle service very helpful to get around. The moro rock was closed for the shuttle but it is a nice 2 miles hike there.

Interesting facts about the sequoia trees, kind staff, and a gift shop where I could have spent hundreds of dollars , so many awesome goodies there. In front of the museum, there is a sequoia called the Sentinel, and on the pavement there is a path representing the height of it, so you can literally walk the height of the Sentinel tree. Such a good idea for giving you the feeling of how tall these trees really are.

Thought the museum would have more to offer. The park rangers inside were very helpful. Great spot to park and hike. You can also take the shuttle to other attractions/spots without worrying about finding a parking spot.

Parking availability is incredibly low around general sherman tree. Other than that worth to climb 30 minutes on curvy narrow mountain roads.

I loved it here quiet and so beautiful!!! The staff was nice very educational for the children they enjoyed seeing the nature as we walked threw good for camping. I understand the food thing because most actually bring their camper and stay over night with the 7 day pass. Over all this place is a must see❤

Beautiful place with snow and rain that made the driving a little bit hard, but everything look great, take your umbrella and warm clothes to enjoy the outside.

This museum is more like an information center / Visitor center with a store. Sentinel Tree is located here. There are trails going to Moro rock , tunnel log. During the winter months the roads are closed to Moro rock and the only way to access them is to drive up to this spot and take the trail.

Very informative, some displays with facts about the trees and forest maintenance. Small gift shop and several park rangers to give directions and guidance

The day we went it was a little packed . My family had a great time learning about the trees and taking pictures upfront of these giants ! Over all it was a great experience and more then I expected

Nature tripping. Sequoia trees are magnificent and their humongous size are breathtaking.

  • 4/5 Pily V. 10 months ago on Google
It's a good spot for souvenirs, they have interesting things like a fake tree, and you can go inside of it, also some informative exhibition about the Park, but if you don't want to buy something I recommend to walk around the park, there are way more things so see.

  • 4/5 Tom L. 10 months ago on Google
Nice but not necessary to see. Be there at 9 because it gets crowded on weekends.

  • 5/5 Arica B. 11 months ago on Google
Amazing giants! The bus will take you up and back for free every 20min. Its a quick 5 min ride up to the giants. Restrooms are available. Trails to the giants are everywhere and fairly easy

The parc is amazing The museum is nice to visit, especially with kids, not big but interactive

  • 5/5 Michael P. 1 year ago on Google
All I can say is if you have not been here before, you need to take the opportunity to visit this place. All the rangers that we encountered were helpful and nice. If you have a family, this would be the place to take them and adventure around. A way to get back to nature and not worry about the everyday stuff. A good point I think is that there is no cell service. I know that some people might not like this but I can bring and revitalize a family again. I would recommend this place to anyone.
