Wow! Outstanding empanadas and arepas. Picked up and took them home— everything was epically delicious. Order everything. Spanish preferred + bring cash if you’re using a card from abroad. With that said, don’t let that discourage you. They are SUPER friendly. Go!

On Sunday the entire island seems like it shuts down and I was starving. So I googled restaurants open and El Tio popped up. The menu was in Spanish but if you know basic words you can figure it out. I ordered the El Tio patacon and a cheese pastelito. The food was great. The best thing was the El Tio, which has fried plantains as the bread. I don't usually eat plantains but that with everything on sandwich made it taste 😋 so good. I'm going to assume it's not a tourist spot because the young lady told me they didn't do credit card in us dollars so I coundt use my card. I was so thankful I had cash because I was excited to try the food.

It's a grab and go spot, foods are great but the there are total of 5 chairs, not a spot to hang out, but more of grab and go, open Sunday is a plus, they do know some English, if you know some Spanish is a plus, foods are great, i would come back again to try others , price is good

If you want great Venezuelan cuisine with a bit of a local Aruban twist, this is the place to be. We got the tio special patacon, which was so good that I had to go back and order another sandwich, the second one was an arepa, absolutely killer. Don’t go to the tourist traps, this place is the real deal. Don’t miss it. Empanadas also amazing.

Very simple hole-in-wall kind of takeout spot, no frills, limited english speaking. But the arepas were excellent. If you're looking for a quick bite of authentic local food, this is a great spot to go.

E arepa y patacon na e luga ki ta asina bon buta. Mane, yessss. Love it. Highly recommended. My favorites are the Voladora 2 or Peluda. Both in arepa 🫓 and patacon form. How do I express "bon buta" in English the same way it feels like in Papiamento? Lol. I guess, you could say: dem arepas/patacon be PACKIN. You won't regret it. Long live El Tio Snack Bar ✌️ Please never change ya'lls arepa and patacon 😭💗

👍👍 One of the best kept secrets this side of the island! The food is spectacular, fresh, delicious! We have been back several times! 👍👍 You definitely get bang for your buck here. The service is wonderful and the food is fresh and delicious! I got the oorlog fries and it's a veery healthy amount that you get. I'm assuming it's Dutch gravy that's in there so it's sweeter than American style gravy. They don't have tables though, only...
