I would recommend this location and this restaurant for a couples or family meal. I was out walking with my spouse and we came upon this restaurant lights on the side of the walkway. I decided to walk into the immediate area to see if it was a private facility or something other than a restaurant. I did not readily see a name, so continued our evening walk. I searched when I arrived home and found out that the name is West Deck. We were speaking to one of our activity providers and he mentioned several locations that were popular in the area, had fresh catch fish, and one of the three was this restaurant name. We returned here early the next day at the opening after finishing our activity on the other side of the island. We were seated quickly by an older gentleman and another female worker, JoJo, came over to wait for our table. We asked about the menu selection and ordered drinks and two appetizers to start our dinner. The Fried Gouda Balls were a hit with us because they are a forbidden item for our diets, so we loved them. I really enjoyed the Balashi Grouper (fish sticks) with the special made macaroni, but my spouse preferred a different fish. She commented that it was good. We snapped a few pictures and we were off to walk off the food we just ate in excess, but delight.

The staff was nice and friendly. We were seated immediately as the restaurant was empty. We ordered the jerk wings, BBQ ribs, spicy shrimp entree, garlic shrimp, and French fries. The jerk wings and spicy shrimp entree were excellent. I love French fries, and they were cooked to perfection, just the way I like them. The garlic shrimp, on the other hand, I could have done without. They lacked flavor. If they substitute the spicy shrimp sauce for the garlic, they would have a hit appetizer. I needed hot sauce in order to eat the shrimp needed, but they didn't have brand hot sauce. They brought their homemade hot sauce out, which wasn't hot or good. I gave them four stars for those reasons. I would visit again though.

So glad we found this jewel before our flight home today! We arrived before opening, but they welcomed us in early anyway. The fish taco, with big chunks of grouper, and the beef taco were delicious! The wait staff couldn’t have been friendlier! Their t-shirts say ,”First stop in. Last stop out.” Great advice!

We met their chef on Christmas Day on the way to Natural Bridge. He was talking vacation with his family. The views was beautiful if your table was on deck. You can watch the sunset while reading the menu. Liked our settings, the table was under the deck. Feels like eating in the backyard. Thank you chef for the recommendation. Foods were delicious, full of Caribbean tastes. I will not name each dish we ordered, because all are good. Never disappointed any resort-strip food in Aruba as my son commented.

Great place with a perfect deck to capture the sunset. Our server was great and funny. Highlights were the baby whole snapper and the pound of garlic shrimp. Great place for good food and a relaxing time.

Beautiful spot away from crowds. Plenty of deck space for a nice lunch or dinner. Service is superb and if you come for the seafood you wont be disappointed. My husband ordered the ribs and said they were great. I ordered the pincho with tenderloin and plantain and the plantains were raw and the tenderloin too chewy.... tostones were not great (probably the oil/grease was old or they were frozen) but the sweet potatoes were ok.

Very good food and great service! Jo and Monica took such great care of us— Jo even went out of her way and took a pic of us! Had chocolate mousse cake for dessert too but it didn’t long enough for a pic! Highly recommend this one!

The service was great. The food was really good as well. The hot sauces did not disappoint which was nice. As a whole the food was pretty normal price for the island. I they have lots of seas food options so I would choose that. The view is good we went after dark but it is right on the water. There was not an issue with reservation when I went. I would consider returning here.

We had a lovely evening at West Deck. The deck itself is wheelchair accessible which is uncommon for Aruba. The staff was lovely and the food was inspired. I had a thick and satisfying red snapper and my wife had the surf and turf. In late June the sunset was not visible from the deck, but the colors at sunset were stunning. Right before we spent time enjoying watching the gulls dive feed among the scenery of boats and hubbub of the boating school unloading for the night.

The food and drinks were excellent. The restaurant is on a small beach and we got to enjoy dinner at sunset while watching fishing boats come in for the day and birds diving into the water looking for their dinner. They had live music as well. It was my favorite dinner of our trip.

It is one of my favorite spots on the island, laid back, fun atmosphere, delicious Caribbean food, and great drinks, and all by the beautiful water. Try their Sate bali, or their keshi yena! Sooooo good!

Great food especially if you just want to sample it all. We tried so many hot and cold appetizers we filled up our table. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. Ceviche is a little spicy but in a good way. Garlic shrimp was my favorite as well as the tenderloin and plantain pincho. Also as an avgeek the deck provides a great view of planes landing at the Queen Beatrix International Airport.

First time coming here and it won't be the last! JoJo and the rest of the team made this one of the most enjoyable dining experiences in a long while. The food was fantastic, drinks were too! Oh how can I forget the appetizer 👍🏾✊🏾! But I definitely suggest that you make reservations because this place gets packed for dinner and you don't want to miss out on this dining opportunity.

My favorite lunch spot on the island! Such a great casual spot to go with an amazing view. The food was SO good. I got the grouper sandwich and wow that bread was fresh. My husband got the jerk wings and loved them so much he begged the owner to get us a recipe. The drinks were delicious too! Can’t wait to come back!

CoVid may have hurt business but it didn't hurt quality. I had the pan fried grouper and it was delicious (admittedly a tad salty). They have a local hotsauce and pickled onions that legitimately elevate your dish to another level. Go support. Go enjoy. You'll leave happy. Shout out to our waiter Francisco... He was lovely.

Our experience at West Deck was so memorable! We came without a reservation at sunset, which I would recommend making ;) --- but Joanne squeezed us in and gave us such a cozy deck spot. We came with our two young children, and she was incredibly welcoming, accommodating & helpful. (Even moved the corn hole game over our way so the kids could play while we enjoyed our drinks!) I would definitely request her as your waitress--- she was quick to take our order and deliver everything, refill water, grab extra things we needed, bring the check, and offered extremely helpful suggestions! She knew her stuff!! She went through the entire menu with us and made recommendations that were easily 10/10--- we got the coconut shrimp, beef tenderloin with plantains, keshi yena (local Christmas dish), and mango/papaya salad. ALL PHENOMENAL! Best meal we've had on the island.

My family and I have eaten at West Deck at least once every time we’ve come here on vacation since they opened 6 years ago. We always get the grouper fingers, tenderloin medallions and a bread basket, among other delicious menu items. Usually we got 2-3x since it is so close to the Renaissance! This year, despite covid, was no exception. We came 3x in 2 weeks. We had fantastic service, so attentive and appreciative, from both Francisco and Joann. No complaints anytime we’ve ever gone! Great drinks, great food, great atmosphere, great service.

This place was recommended to us by a nice couple we met who recently moved to the island after visiting for over 30 years. Lovely ambiance - yet still casual enough to take the kids. All outdoor seating right on the water. Especially enjoyed our server, Joanne, who was extremely helpful in navigating the menu. She suggested some local dishes and flavors that I may not have normally tried and she certainly did not steer us wrong! Also the live sax/flute player added a nice touch. Call ahead because this place fills up quick and some of the tables have better ocean views than the others.

I had an hour on this beautiful island, so walked up far enough from the cruise port to find this gem. Situated on a little bit of beach, this bar was welcoming, had great views and served a nice cold beer! Great place for an early evening drink/food.

The West Deck is an amazing restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxing and fun! We had a group of 10, and sat outside at a big square table. Jessy was our waitress, and she was amazing! She was helpful, kind & informative. My son and I shared the pirate’s pot…delicious!!!

Great relaxing restaurant right by the water. Note downtown at night is quiet as all the action moves towards the “high rise” area. Downtown/cruise ship dock area is much busier during the day and all stores usually close by 6pm. Regardless of the quieter people traffic restaurant was great and actually nice that we just got to enjoy the vibe and food. We had the garlic shrimp, calamari and shared the fried baby snapper (pic) and it was just right for 2 adults. Staff is friendly and prompt and the open air setting is nice. This is a very casual restaurant that makes for an easy and enjoyable evening. Thanks for having us!

While on vacation here in Aruba, we are trying more of the restaurants near our hotel. So far this wasnt the best we have been to but overall a good experience. Although it boasts a view of the west side of the island, only a few tables up in the deck would have such a view, the lower ones don't. The food was good. Not amazing overall but enjoyable. There were some dishes that stood out like the Caribbean bread option the jerk chicken wings (kind of messy to eat but flavorful) and the cucumber shrimp were good. There was also a dish that stood out for the wrong reason. The funchi which I expected more from and ended up being like a slice of playing today with very plain cheese on it. Was also a bit upset that we received some of our appetizer dishes before even having our drinks and there was a delay in getting a regular for our water. Overall a good experience just not one that I have to experience again.

Stopped on here for dinner. We ended up ordering appetizers to split because there was a lot of delicious options to choose from. We ordered the ceviche, fish sliders, coconut shrimp, and the wings. I would say the wings was the best out of all of them. The drinks weren't bad either... just the service seemed a little hectic. Ceviche was a little bland for me.

I rarely leave bad reviews. This place was such a disappointment though it was recommended highly on the Aruba Foodies Facebook Group. My husband made a reservation and received an email confirmation that we had a 6p reservation. When we arrived at 5:45p, the hostess stated that we did not have a reservation and refused to look at my husband’s phone/email confirmation. When she did finally relent, she told him that the person who sends the confirmations doesn’t really check with her first. (Strike 1). Then, she led us through a 90% empty restaurant. When we asked why we weren’t being seated there, she told us that those tables were for people who reserved “months” in advance (we reserved 2 weeks in advance). At this point, we also didn’t know if we were being racially profiled because we are people of color. There were only Caucasian people sitting on the upper level with the view. She then led us through the nice part of their restaurant, down stairs, and then sat us at a dirty picnic table in sand with a view of the road. No beach view, just the road and the sounds of the road (strike 2). We mentioned to her that the restaurant was mostly empty and that we would like to have a real table that was not in sand. She scoffed and thought about it and said fine, you can have this table (view below). The table was located in the middle of the downstairs area with neither a beach view or a road view! There were flimsy uncomfortable plastic chairs. We then waited for almost 30 minutes for a server because we were in a section that no server was attending (strike 3). We did not even receive water! Our server, when she finally came, was very nice and appeared overworked. We ordered and our food took its time to come out, lukewarm. We did like the lukewarm trocadero garlic shrimp and the Caribbean jerk chicken wings appetizers. The alcoholic drinks were overly sweetened with just a little bit of alcohol. The table is so small with bowls of sauces, etc that it is hard to fit everything on the table. The waitstaff definitely look like they are bustling to clear tables and bring out food. For the price, the full plate house specials were small and lukewarm. We did not have any view from our seat and could not watch the sun set. We did watch multiple well-dressed patrons decline to sit in the sand section on picnic tables. We did not stay for dessert because we already had a terrible experience at this restaurant at this point. Tips, if you still choose this restaurant and you have read this far: Make your reservation MONTHS in advance. Specify the top deck, close to the edge so you can have the beautiful view that is advertised. The later in the evening you go, the longer you will wait for your table. If they try to seat you in the sand section with picnic tables and no view, you can decline. You should decline if there are empty tables! There is parking next to the restaurant. The views from the public walking patio area and the green lifeguard seat are fantastic, try to get some pics there. For the price point, there are dozens of other restaurants in this area that will treat the customer much better.

We had lunch here on our first day on the island. I am a red snapper fanatic and try it everywhere I go and it’s on the menu. I had the red snapper filet and it left me in a place of wanting more seasonings and flavor. I added the sauces that were provided to the table and it improved the flavor, but just wish it was more flavorful served as is. The service was awesome and the atmosphere is on par to what I like with island dining. I will definitely dine here again on my next visit, but will certainly choose something other than the red snapper filet.

Our service was INCREDIBLE. Food was good and served timely. A little disappointed that there were two mischievous young boys allowed to run around unattended with several inquiries to management overlooked. These young boys were throwing sandbags at customers, climbing on tables barefoot, hanging and swinging from the upper deck. This went on for an entire hour.

It’s become a go-to spot while in Oranjestad. The fresh seafood, gorgeous beach views and friendly staff make it a great choice for lunch or dinner. The lower seating section is in the sand, nestled between large, sprawling trees. The twirly lights overhead create an intimate feel. The soft Caribbean music playing adds to the vacation feeling. They get busy around sunset. No bar seating. Come by boat or car, plenary of parking.
