There is a lot to say about this restaurant in Oranjestad. It has its regulars and comes as one of the most recommended restaurants on the island. We made a reservation which was inside as all reservations on the beach were already booked ahead of time. We didn’t mind as it was a bit windy night. The first thing I personally noticed was a strange placement of the restrooms, right at the entrance. The atmosphere inside and on the beach is nearly perfect. The music was not too loud, the lights were great and decor on point. I say nearly as we did get stung by mosquitoes a few times. We ordered a lot of food and cocktails. The food was good, not great. Three people out of 4 voted that mashed potatoes were the best out of everything, which means we could have saved over $250 if we just got those. Our server Andres was polite and very attentive. The fourth person who decided that mashed potatoes were not the best item we tasted was me. I thought fudge brownie was really good. It’s not too sweet and with cacao on the top, it was just what I needed to push this review to a solid four stars.

One of my absolute favorite places in Aruba, I’ve come back year after year. The lobster cappuccino is divine, and so are the goat cheese medallions. I do have to say, Barefoot has one of my favorite risottos in the entire world. The touch of tomato sauce with the arugula adds tons of flavor to the dish. And of course, you cannot visit Barefoot and not get the bananamisu. The ambiance here is amazing, you’re dining right on the water and have the beautiful sunsets before you. Highly recommend trying Barefoot when you visit Aruba.

Fantastic service and food. One of the must restaurants that will try next time visiting Aruba. Our server, Anna, was amazing too, very tentative and polite. Just one note, if you are looking for a very quiet romantic dinner, this place is not that. Next to restaurant, there is a bar with loud music, although we enjoyed the music but just a heads up.

Location is just perfect! You need to reserve your table around 6pm so that you can experience the awesome sunset and make many pictures! Food was also very delicious. Only remark would be for desserts. They were just ‘normal’ desserts compared to the starters and main dishes we had. Service was also the best we had in Aruba. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Definitely come here for the vibes/atmosphere ! Really great views if you can get a spot on the beach for sunset but the deck tables also look nice. We were able to make a res the day of for four. Food was good and really delicious bread to start. Some vegetarian options as well which is nice. Only thing that could have been better is the restaurant/bar beside ours was playing very loud music which distracted and took away from the relaxing and calm vibe. Definitely also recommend taking a stroll along their beach after dinner (:

Food, service and atmosphere were amazing! We had a 8:00 pm reservation , arrived early and they were ready for us. Sunset picture was our view when we sat down. Very peaceful. We had the Cesar salad, scallop appetizer, Grouper Romano & Sea Bass. Best meal on the island so far. Highly recommend.

My husband and I visited this beautiful restaurant during our honeymoon and this was definitely one of our favorites! Our reservation was at 6:30pm on the beach, we were seated immediately, and the sunset was spectacular. The food was amazing and came out super fast; we ordered a sweet & sour chicken with pineapple. Our server was very attentive, kind, and honest about which foods were worth ordering. For dessert we got the key lime pie. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again and highly recommend it to others!

The ambiance makes this restaurant 4 stars, but since I prefer to judge restaurants primarily on food, I only give it 3 stars. The on the beach dining experience was super cool but should be matched with exceptional food! Guests were literally barefoot if they preferred. We were seated just as the sun was setting so that was beautiful to see. 2 days later I can’t remember the food, it was not exceptional nor great it was just something to eat. There was a lack of seasoning so the steak minus the seasoning there wasn’t salt nor pepper, it was just beef and my grouper was just fish. And I LOVE grouper but this made me think hmmm is this grouper or a waste of a $30 piece of fish? The fish was supposed to be “crusted in cheese” it was just cheese melted on the fish then the tomato sauce on top. It tasted like mozzarella not Parmesan cheese, there was no crust to it. I imaged a seasoned fish pan seared with the cheese to make a crispy crust before adding the sauce, but that was not how they prepared it. I just wasn’t impressed with the meal. The crab cakes were ok but again lack of flavor and it was more breading filler than crab. Or maybe just we’ll blended, so not your traditional chunky crab pieces. But it was fried well with a nice crisp. Cesar salad was good with fresh lettuce. The snicker cheesecake was phenomenal so great points to save the food experience. The other thing lacking was privacy from the next restaurant/bar which was playing loud fun music. So if you are looking for romantic, that kind of spoils it. Maybe Barefoot can play romantic music that will distract guest from the fun music. Now if you are not looking for romantic quiet dinner, then it’s a cool vibe. The wait staff were great! Very attentive, tried their best to anticipate needs of guest. They were patient when taking out order and called a taxi for us when time to leave. The manager was doing his rounds as well, which I do like see. They sang a cool birthday rendition with a surprise candle for my mother-in-law.

Had a delightful experience at Barefoot Restaurant. Service was very good. The snapper Old Amsterdam was a highlight, the crab cakes were tasty, there was a bit less crab than expected. Nevertheless, the overall meal was enjoyable, accompanied by a beautiful view.

There is nothing like eating a fine meal on the beach while watching the sunset. Great meal with great service. I had the sirloin steak with rum-pepper sauce which was delicious. I kicked off the meal with one of the many specialty cocktails which were offered. For dessert, we shared a banana tiramisu which was creamy and mouth watering. Overall, an excellent dining experience.

Barefoot had a great ambience with nice easy going "not too loud" music in a beautiful setting on the beach. The food we had: seafood trio and pineapple chicken were very tasty. The staff were efficient and friendly. My fave new "on the beach" restaurant so far.

Beautiful sunset and nice to be able to hang out at the beach before getting food. However the food and drinks were terrible. Fish was over cooked, everything tasted like it was de-thawed, complimentary bread was hard, crab cakes were made with imitation crab. I would definitely not eat here again, but it was a nice place for a sunset. Maybe even nice if you have young kids since everything tasted like it was from a kids meal.

THIS IS A MUST DO WHEN YOU ARE IN ARUBA!!! Wow nothing like eating on the sand during the sunset. And the food is delicious cannot go wrong as all. I would come back in a heartbeat!

  • 2/5 Brian M. 6 months ago on Google
We ordered the lobster bisque (it tasted like a bowl of hot cocoa without any lobster bits or taste of lobster), shrimp cocktail, osobucco, and the Amsterdam fish (I think snapper filet). The bartender's special drinks were watered down and the food was very disappointing. The ambiance was amazing and the service was top tier. We were very disappointed leaving this restaurant. I hate that I believed the hype when we had so many other options to choose from. I do not recommend this place unless you do not care about the food.

One of the best restaurants in all of Aruba. Fantastic service, friendly staff, great ambiance. Love the fact that it's on the sand by the water. The food was amazing. We got the Greek salad, tuna steak, Mahi Mahi, and zucchini lasagna. Every dish was made perfectly with extremely fresh ingredients and tasted delicious. It's a little out of the way from the resorts but well worth the trip. Definitely will be back here again

One of the most beautiful settings for a nice dinner, make sure you reserve a beach side table if you want to capitalize on the sunset views. The food here was really good as was the service, I really enjoyed the fresh fish options and choices for kids.

Barefoot was a one of a kind experience. The restaurant has an upscale feel but on the beach with your toes in the sand. The menu was expansive with plenty of cocktails, small bites and entrees. I ordered the mushroom risotto and it was absolutely fantastic. The views are this restaurant are breathtaking. It’s literally right on the beach and beautiful at sunset. The staff was super attentive and our food and drinks came quickly. Love this restaurant. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Aruba!

Food was excellent. I had beef tips and they had a really good and unique sauce. The meat was nice and tender and cooked just as I asked. Good variety of choices on menu. Drinks were great. Service was excellent. View is really spectacular. All the wait staff were patient with other patrons asking to take their pictures as the sun set... and they took excellent photos. I zoomed in on the setting sun and could see sunspots on my S21 Ultra.... We got there about 1 hour before sunset. The clouds really assisted in blocking the bright sun. Bring sunglasses and a hat if you're getting there early. After sunset I could clearly see stars, planets, and constellations while sitting at the beach table. Great experience.

What a unique dining experience you have at Barefoot. You eat in a beautiful atmosphere at a table on the beach with your toes in the sand. Our server wasn’t the best but every other person who came to the table was so incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is excellent and the view is spectacular. Definitely worth every penny.

I’m only giving it 4 stars because my waiter wasn’t as attentive as I’d liked. Aside from our waiter everything else was really great. The food was very flavorful. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of our food. We celebrated my birthday and I enjoyed every second of it. Very great for taking pictures. Our reservation was for 6:15 and we watched the sunset it was amazing.

Who does not dream about eating a romantic dinner barefoot on a beach with the ocean?! Astonishing setting and solid food - we appreciated the prosciutto + melon appetizer and the old Amsterdam snapper. The mojitos are very tasty also! What a wonderful experience! :)

My fiancé and I had a 5:15pm Valentines Day reservation for a table on the beach. Once seated, we were surprised to see Reflections beach club is right next door. So 10 feet from your table is a beach party with music blasting, a DJ spinning Cardi B and Bad Bunny, and an MC hyping up the crowd in their microphone- not so much a romantic dinner as advertised. The view was also obstructed by a kids swimming class and beach goers. We are foodies and always order a lot to try and taste a variety of things. We had 4 drinks, 4 apps (2 tuna, goat cheese, escargot, chickpea salad) 2 entrees (mahi, snapper old amsterdam) and 1 desserts (key lime pie). Drinks were decent, service was good, food was mediocre, we enjoyed the dessert. There are way better dinner spots all across the island where the flavors kind of blow this place out of the water. The sunset was beautiful, but if you are not a foodie and are looking for a romantic dinner with a view, I would go to Flying Fishbone over here for the ambiance/beautiful view. We would not return as both the food/ambiance/experience were not as expected.

We had dinner here tonight and the food was horrible. The sangria was okay and I actually loved the goat cheese medallions salad, but the blackened Mahi Mahi was horrible. Very salty and tasted like old bay seasoning (supposed to have Cajun) and I asked without onion, which obviously was disregarded. My family had the lobster bisque which they said tasted good but the pork tenderloin was very salty (the sauce especially) and was flavorless and not tender. The key lime pie was not key lime pie, but rather cheesecake with lime flavoring. I love dessert but didn't even finish it. For the price + a cab there and back $200 to waste. I would not recommend this restaurant. Don't waste your money on this place.

(Translated by Google) For years our restaurant “for special and non special occasions”. Every time we enjoy the delicious dishes again, never too much, always beautiful flavor combinations, beautifully presented and served by skilled and hospitable staff. The view of the sea and beach, the sunset and the special sensation of the KLM that just flies into the AirPort is the free dessert and ambiance. A nice long dinner until the sun is far down, enjoy excellent wines, this is paradise in real life. Compliments to team Barefoot, keep it up in these difficult times🙏 (Original) Al jaren ons restaurant “for special and non special occasions” . Two stars for location and sandy beach instead of floor. Food? Completely missed the mark on every single plate and drinks. Very touristy version of what American cuisine should look like. Too much sugar, too much salt. Nothing to eat. I do not think this is the right value for your dollars.

Great on the beach sunset dining experience! We have been coming here for years, my husband proposed to me here right on the beach. So yes, we try to dine here at least a few times during our visits. Our favorites are the crab cakes, ceviche, Shellfish Trio, Oso Bucco, Surf n Turf, tenderloin truffle and great selection of wines. Nicky the manager pays attention to everyone and helps provide fresh recommendations and knowledgeable with their wine selections. Our most recent server Laura is very attentive.

We had an amazing dinner here, a romantic setting with great food. We ordered two appetizers (goat cheese and crab cakes), they were perfection! Great way to start off the meal. The entrees were cooked just as we asked and the service was on point. The sunset was beautiful we had a reservation for 5:45 pm, they even offered to take pictures of you. I believe he was the manager, but a nice touch for him to come check on you. Had to share dessert (too full), which was also fantastic. I highly recommend for a well rounded, beautiful on the beach experience.

I thought deeply about posting this because I’d hate for this place to become so popular that I can’t get a reservation. That being said they deserve 10 stars. They have the food, views and vibe down to a science. They are AMAZING! Best food I ate in Aruba! Will get on a weekend flight just to eat here. The Caribbean grouper was a delight. Whoever though of a mango cream cheese and a mango sauce to be put on fish is a genius and deserves an award.

Overall such an amazing and romantic experience for my husband and I as we celebrate our honeymoon. My husband has very serious dietary restrictions and the owner, Nicky (could be spelling wrong) made sure he was able to whip up something that he would enjoy and also be able to eat. They also brought over a flaming candle and a plate wishing us a happy honeymoon. So pleased with the staff and the food was absolutely delicious. For reference, my husband got a stuffed bell pepper that had all veggies inside with a side of white rice and tomato paste sauce, which he raved about. I had the sirloin steak, which was also phenomenal. I will definitely be back here for future wedding anniversaries.

Nice restaurant with great tables on the beach. Our reservation was for 8 and we got there 730, but they had a table ready for us. The atmosphere is great and the food is better than average. The escargot was better than most places I've had it but the mushrooms didn't feel like a great combo. But the sauce for it was amazing. I had the corvin and crab which was good and felt fresh but again, not amazing. If I lived around here I'd go there once in a while, mostly to take friends that were visiting. If you are visiting, worth a stop by but not an everyday place.. basically I don't feel the need to go back.

The food is good, the service better, but the sunset is outstanding. We’ve ordered a meat with smashed potatoes and a Trio Seafood. The meat was better. For the food we didn’t think it was worthy. The drinks also good, but nothing too good.

Couldn’t rate this place higher. Have been coming to Aruba for about 25 years and have never had a better meal on the island. Service is excellent, food is top notch and you can’t beat the ambience and back drop. The absolute best ‘dining in the sand’ experience in the Caribbean. Make sure you go early to see the sunset and yes - they will indeed take as many sunset pics for you/your family/friends to your hearts content. Highly recommend the chicken & pineapple dish (served in a pineapple, how could you not love that).

The food was ok. Some of the descriptions were a little more upscale sounding than the food actually was. Other descriptions didn't really make any sense. Shrimp croquettes- shrimp ragout in a Cristy jacket. No actually just pureered shrimp with spices fried in croquette shape. It was tasty just not how the menu described. The rib eye was bland no salt at all and very poor quality. There was so much sinew that half of what I did eat ended up in my napkin. My gf got the goat medallions which she said was ok but again not described well. It's on the cold apps but came out hot and on top of a salad. The veggies of the night also seemed a little wacky. It was like a typical veggies mix (green bean, carrots, cauliflower, asapargus but loaded with alfalfa sprouts and hot. Both of us were not a fans. First it seems out of place with steak in a red wine sauce and zucchini parm. Second it was cooked sauted alfalfa sprouts. When ppl say seasonal veggies that's definitely not one that generally comes to mind. Especially in Autum. Drinks were reasonable and tasty. I think the biggest screw up was that we had a reservation for 830pm arrived 820 and was seated right away. The order was taken pretty quick and drink came quick, then app even quicker, and entrees were put on the table as the app plate was taken away. From drinks to main meal 15 mins at most. The waiter than came over and said oh so I'm leaving and this other waiter will take over and thats when we understood. He rushed so he could finish and leave. But who can eat a whole 'romantic' meal in under 20 mins?? The mains weren't that great but even if they were at that speed who could eat anything without getting very uncomfortable. The next guy was kinda hard to wave down for the check and when he did come he was almost upset that we didn't finish our plates. We didn't say anything because by this point we were over it. But he was a little too adament almost insulted that we couldn't finish. One romantic night out in 45mins or less.

We heard so many great things about Barefoot and unfortunately it did not live up to our expectations. The service was average and the food was decent (pretty on par with some of the other restaurants). We started with a caprese salad, each had a fish entree and ended with the shareable dessert plate. What really disappointed us was the set up. Yes you’re in the sand facing the ocean, but on either side of the restaurant is public beach. We had about 15 loud children playing in the water in front of us and jumping off a dock. It was not the romantic experience we hoped (and paid) for. If eating in the sand is a must for your trip, then do it! But if that isn’t important to you, I’d select a different place to dine.

The location and the service is spot on. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. Started pretty strong with the tuna carpaccio/tartar and some type of seafood puff pastry appetizers. The tuna had LOT of teriyaki sauce, which gave it a lot of flavor but really was just too much. The snapper and blackened mahi mahi were both okay, but again, just had too much sauce. Both fish were fresh, so why overload with sauce? The sample platter of dessert was just not good, and that's saying something from 2 complete sweet tooths.

The Barefoot restaurant is simply fine dinning on the beach. I highly recommend.

This place is amazing. Barefoot Grill is without a doubt a must visit in Aruba. The food is amazing, service is impeccable, and the views are absolutely stunning. Right on the beach, it is a relaxed atmosphere with upscale food. If you need gluten free there is not a separate gluten free menu, but don't worry, they are very knowledgeable and can make just about everything on the menu gluten free. They brought GF bread to the table which was amazing. Lots of food choices for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. You must go here when in Aruba. We loved it so much we immediately made reservations to come back the next night.

Lovely dining experience! The customer service was good. Food was good. But I definitely think the greatest part of this restaurant is the ambience and being able to dine on the beach with your feet in the sand. Worth checking out.

Loved our experience at Barefoot. We had a table on the deck and it allowed us an unobstructed view of the sunset. The food was amazing. We went there for my sister’s 30th birthday and it made for probably the best celebratory dinner location on the island. The service was outstanding and the staff was super friendly. No complaints!

Went there for dinner on a Saturday night. The dinner was good I had the steak and the chimichuri was awesome!! I was a little disappointed they didn’t ask how I like my meat & it was a little rare but it was still good. I ordered a sangria and was not happy with it at all. We also ordered dessert which was the chefs surprise platter and the options given were good as well.

Amazing sunset while eating on the beach. Exceptional service and setting. These people are pros and know how to run a restaurant. Food and drinks were excellent. Traditional mojito was just right.

My wife, daughter and I had a fabulous dinner with Amstel Bright beers and sunset at Barefoot Restaurant. I had the fresh Grouper Caribbean that was fantastic with mash potatoes and vegetables. My appetizer was fantastic Dutch crab cakes. My wife and daughter had the greek salad & chicken with pineapple and both loved their meals. Another beautiful Aruban 🌅 sunset. Definitely coming back here next year.

Lovely restaurant where you can enjoy good food with a great view. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is of good quality and the accompanying wines are just fine. Make sure you make a reservation and possibly get a spot on the beach.

(Translated by Google) Great food good service. A bit quickly served the dishes in a row. Beautiful, friendly location with bare feet in the sand on the coast. Fine to eat. (Original) Heerlijk eten goede bediening. Wel wat snel de gerechten achter elkaar geserveerd. Mooie, vriendelijke lokatie met de blote voeten in het zand aan de kust. Prima om te gaan eten.

My wife and I went on our 2nd full day and while the food was delicious we had a somewhat traumatizing experience. We show up after an afternoon for a 7pm reservation. Apparently its common knowledge that the beaches around barefoot are more or less infested with bugs after a rain. After noticing a few bites here and there we asked our server about the insects and were promptly offered some spray or another seat not on the beach.. To make a long story short, be sure to ask for the bug spray before you are seated to protect yourself from getting bitten 26 times. Food: 9/10 Service: 6/10

We had the best experience here. We ate at plenty of great places in Aruba and this was by far the very best. Their service was superb and their food was even better. Definitely make a reservation. Their mustard soup was incredible! Skip the weird watery lobster bisque! The house rolls and garlic sun-dried tomato butter were scrumptious. We loved the Romance of the Sea entree because of their garlic sauce. Just ask for extra on the side when you order it for dipping all those fresh veggies and potatoes in. You won't be disappointed. But the risotto was what dreams are made of. Do not skip dessert! Get the chef's choice and sample all of the delicious options at once by ordering the petite grand Dessert. Rub your feet in the sand as you dine and take in the sunset and sounds of the sea lapping at the shore. We couldn't have had a better meal that night! It's a can't miss part of your Aruban adventure! Although it's pricey, it was so worth it!! Don't be detered by their weird parking lot and entrance (it looks like an abandoned dirt lot and an alleyway entrance). Just keep going! It's through the hallway/alley and to the back. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

It was an incredible dinner with beautiful scenery and tasty foods. Digging your toes into the sand while enjoying a wonderful five star meal is a very unique and enjoyable experience. For people who find it difficult to sit still for a fancy meal or have children, this is perfect as it is fine dining but also you can mess with the sand and waves. I give it a 10,000/10 and will most likely go back during my stay!!

Every meal was delicious here. The bread and homemade butter is to die for. You will ask for more and more and end up being super full! Drinks- lots of choices. Tried the white sangria, summer breeze, ruby relaxer, and flirtini. All so good, the ruby relaxer is sweeter than the other 3 drinks. Appetizers- the goat cheese medallions are unbelievable. I dont even like goat cheese and this was so good. The tuna Appetizer was also very good. The lobster bisque had great flavors. Entree- mahi mahi, grouper, fish trio , and filet tip dishes were all delicious. We all agreed that the best dish was the mushroom risotto. We ended up sharing 2 orders of it in addition to our other entrees because it was so good. I know, how can a mushroom risotto be that good? It has blue cheese and arugula on it along with a ton of mushrooms to give it an unbelievable flavor. We didn't have room for anything else afterwards! Lastly, the view and location is pretty spectacular. It is on the water, tables in the sand, and definitely go before sunset to watch it. It is so beautiful. We watched a couple get engaged one of the nights we were there.

(Translated by Google) Recommended. Nice ambiance, nice fast service and good food. Well, not great. Price / quality is therefore a bit out of balance. (Original) Aanrader. Leuke ambiance, aardige snelle service en goed eten. Goed, niet fantastisch. Prijs/kwaliteit is dus een beetje uit balans.
