Nice, small museum located just steps off the beach. We stopped here to kill a few minutes waiting on dinner reservations and I'm glad we did. The guides were very informative and the presentation of the relics was great. The climb up the tower was worth the price of admission. Good views of Aruba for some good pictures. As a bonus, I was in the tower on the hour and got to see the intricate clock mechanism ring the bell.

It's temporary close, and the information boards are badly maintained. You can't learn anything from any of these boards. What you can do is, take a photo then leave.

This little museum which is located in a historical fort at the end of the seafront promenade is well worthwhile for the wealth of information given about how Aruba developed into what it is today and also about the making of Panama hats for the workers of the Panama Canal, the hats were actually made in Aruba but the name became synonymous with panama after the building of the canal. It’s a beautiful and serene place away from the bustle of the duty free shops and faces the gorgeous queen wilhelmina Park.

The Willem III Tower (1868) at Oranjestad, Aruba, served as the west entrance to Fort Zoutman (1798) and also functioned as a lighthouse until 1963. The fort is the oldest building on Aruba, constructed by African slaves. It repelled a British attack in 1799 during the Napoleonic Wars.

...Historischer Ort, der zu seiner Zeit eine Festung war. Der Bau ist 150 Jahre alt. Der noch vorhandene Glockenturm kann bestiegen werden. Von hier oben schöne Aussicht auf einen Teil der Stadt....2o16

We happened to visit on a Tuesday when they had a Bon Bini Festival. We learned about the history of Aruba. We got to enjoy the performance of traditional music and dance. The performers were wonderful and talented.

We visited this performance on our 1st visit here and LOVED it!!! You will not be disappointed. Host Beachlama is awesome, dancers are great and the energy and atmosphere are so joyful. This is a family friendly event so even when they pick guest out of the crowd to participate its so fun!

The entrance fee is kind of expensive for what you see ($15). Althought the climbing to the top of the fortress is fun and scary, not everyone can fit on those tiny ladders.

Beautiful view from the top of the tower (slightly scary to climb up...a series of ladders not recommended in flip flops) you can see large portion of Oranjestad from the top. The rest of the fort contains a history museum about the island and some neat photographs from before it was very populated. It was my understanding that it is free, but they do charge $5 USD to enter.

Great spot to get a taste of history of the Island. Essentially the first fort built on the island. The tower provides panoramic views of the Island. The tower is not accessible for those with mobility challenges but if you are able...its worth the climb. The rest of the facility is accessible .

Fun little museum for $5. I read everything and it took only 45 minutes, so a little sparse. However, what was there was interesting. The history is on a bunch of plaques, so be ready to read if you go. Good view from the top of the tower.

Excellent museum. Small collection showing how Arubians used to practice a trade, especially that of weaving straw hats that Aruba exported to Europe and USA. I definitely suggest to climb up the bell tower with unique views of the harbour area and the parliament building.

This place was interesting enough for history types or if you have some extra time on your vacation/cruise but honestly not worth the cab ride. Very small and not much about the history of the island or military. Mostly about weaving and how it was their original export (interesting but hardly museum worthy). Neat little local artist display in the back as well. Saving grace is the bell tower that you can climb and see a few good sites from up high but stairs are super narrow for the less athletically inclinded. Current cost to get in is $5USD.

My wife and I spent a few hours here after we were done eating and walking around in the area. We head some steel drum music playing so we went over there and watched the performance of the local culture and the music.

It's an alright beach as far as carribbean beaches go. Lots of rocks and seaweed, with not a ton of beach. The nice thing is it is a quieter beach so finding a spot is not hard at all. We went during a busy time in December and never had an issue. The water temperature was wonderful. It is a little quieter here to since there are not businesses (other than the resort suites) right on the beach.

(Translated by Google) Fort Zoutman. A historical museum on.Aruba. Not only to visit, but also a location to hold parties. When you enter, you see placards of prominent people who have visited the fort, but the letters are blurred or gone in some places. Repair this or remove it. It immediately gives me the feeling of faded glory. That what Aruba can show in history, is what it does here, among other things. It's okay. (Original) Fort Zoutman.

Attended the Bon Bini festival. A nice show introducing the history, folklore, and culture of the island with audience participation. Is outdoors in the forts gated courtyard. $10 per person. Not clearly advertised from the exterior of the fort, we had to inquire about the correct location.
