Quite a nice workout and relatively good views from the top. ~590 stairs to the top with small rest platforms as you go, the steeper part has a mid railing. Shouldn't take you that long to huff up and enjoy the views. If you are in the area and want so vertical hiking give it a go.

March 13, 2023. Took the stairs up Hooiberg and it was fully open, concrete steps cured. Requested GMaps change status to reopened. Hike from parking lot to top back to parking lot will take max 35min with regular stops. It's very vertical but can be accomplished in flip flops, tho you definitely want to walk up on a dry day as the concrete will be slick when wet.

314ft elevation. 594 steps. But there are plenty of 'rest-stops' whereby we can step aside and take plenty of rest. The trail is built using concrete steps end-to-end and very well maintained. We were there mid-afternoon and were glad the entire trail is facing east; i.e. no scotching sun! Without the heat, it was a breeze as we strolled up the stairs, soaked in the view, and took pictures of the mountain goats! There were no crowds at all; saw only 3 other people.

Early morning is the best time to trek up this awesome hill and watch the sunrise. It's a great work out and you can see the entire island from this perfect vantage point!

Lots of stairs! If you get winded easily, not the best thing to do, especially once the sun comes out in full force. But if you're even somewhat fit, no problem! The views are certainly worth what is a 5-10 minute climb with stops.

Went hiking here last week in the afternoon. It's a good, steep stair workout but doesn't take long to get to the top, and you can easily take breaks on the way up as needed! The views were really nice. We also came across less than a dozen other hikers along the way so it was pretty quiet that day. The wildlife that day was also pretty cool. Many birds, especially at the top, and goats that would walk right across the trail!

Great hiking experience. Steps all the way, well maintained. Little hard going up especially with some steep steps. But there are place to take a break and proceed further. About 500 or so steps, not bad overall. View was breathtaking, if you can try after 4pm you can see the sunset. We went early in the morning but it was very hot. Take cap and water with you!!

Great experience for those that make it to the top. If you give up 1/3 of the way, there is a nice lookout. The first set of steps do not gave railing but the middle section does. The steps get steeper and you will get a work out! Be careful coming down if you have big feet! Come down sideways so you don't miss a step. Mot as hard coming down but if your legs are shaky take a break because you don't want to roll down the rest of the way!

Oh. My. Gosh.. The stairs leading up look unsuspecting until you're about 150 steps in and your legs burn and your knees want to give out. Luckily there are several sitting areas on the way up so you can take breaks. It's roughly 520 stairs to the top and the view of the island from there is worth the time and energy to reach it. Not to mention the amazing breeze you can cool off in while snapping your photos. Well definitely go back next time we're in Aruba.

While the trail is closed we were able to still hike (we were not the only ones) the stairs are STEEP and there are about 590ish of them. Don't let that deter you though, the view is AMAZING! Once you get to the top you'll find a stoop, but if you continue to the other side of the peak you'll find it is open, it was a fantastic spot to watch the sunset. I highly suggest early morning or evening for this hike.

I loved my climb! 587 (?) steps to the top, and a great view is waiting for you! About 1/8th of the way to the top, there was a cute goat family- Ma, Pa & Babe.

Good place for some exercise while visiting Aruba. Steps are in great condition. Went for sunset views which were partially obscured. There is an overlook facing east so it would be better for sunrise view.

What a change in scenery from a little island! It’s a moderate hike up the stairs and the views are incredible! Pretty tough during the day and especially when it’s super hot. It was pretty windy when we went in March so hold on to your hats! We were lucky to see some goats as well!

This is my favorite outdoor training spot. The stairs have recently been redone and new railings have been put up to give it more protection. A magical place with an incredible view.

The view is worth it and amazing!!!!! I was able to easily navigate and find the place. Upon reaching here I was able to park and start my journey. It took me ~13min to get up to the top. Not going to lie I was a little out of breath so much sure you are well hydrated prior to leaving. Ounce up at the top I had to go towards the right side (there is an underneath path) to take these amazing pictures! Would definitely recommend this as an activity while in Aruba, especially if you are a hiker or just looking to exercise!

Go early or late. Bring plenty of water. Bring good shoes, sure, you can do this in flip flops or designer sandals, but for comfort, wear shoes. Take as many breaks as you need. No sense in giving yourself a heart attack to get up to the top. Eat good before you hike. If you eat poorly, you'll feel it.

Fun climb for a workout. If you have knee problems the steps will be hard. The top is pretty, but most of the space is taken up by an ugly communications building. Oh, yeah...goats are here too (people seem to love 'em)

Short hike, steps lead you all the way up. There is a small gazebo about 1/3 of the way up with a decent view. We had a friendly family of goats greet us on the way up. Do not take the steps all the way up, as they will lead you to a power station. About 10 steps before the stairs and, you will see a small clearing in the trees on the left side – head there. Pass by a large cactus and you will get to the viewing point – the view is astonishing. Make sure you bring a water bottle or two – Aruba is very sunny so stay hydrated! Definitely recommend this for a good photo opp and the view.

Nice place to climb steps. Once you're at the top, the stairs end and there are no paths or viewing platforms. Great for exercise, but you can drive to better views at most of the water tanks

This location is in a quiet back street in a local housing area. You can hike up this mountain in an hour and a half. The view is amazing and well worth the climb. If you visit Aruba and are in good shape and enjoy a little challenge this is one you need to do. Look for the 747 Park in a gentleman's backyard. You can see the airport, The cruise ship docks, You can see the west side where the waves come in, on a clear day you can see Venezuela, it's great!

Great place to watch a sunset and look over Oranjestad! If you are fit, you can make it to the top in 20 minutes. Concrete steps most of the way to the top. Some sections are narrow and quite steep, and some parts do not have a railing. Give yourself plenty of time to get up and enjoy the views before sunset. A headlamp may be advisable if you are a slower down climber. A "must do" while visiting Aruba!

Great views on the way up, down and at the top. Hard enough to feel we did something but no so hard as to be too much for a vacation. There are plenty places to step off the trail and most of it has hand rails.

It's very steep for a pretty flat island. Stairs were in good condition, but beware if you are afraid of heights, some portions don't have railings.

Though closed for restoration, the fencing didn't stop many of us from doing a morning trek up the hillside steps before the workers arrived. A wonderful workout and spectacular view from the top. You smell the wild goats near the top and if you are lucky can spot some

I am 69 y/old and got out of breath at the halfway point. The views were beautiful. We went during mid morning and the sun was hot. My friends made it to the top and said it was fantastic views and experience.

The core of an ancient volcano, the Hooiberg stands over 540-feet as Aruba's 3rd highest, but most prominent peak. The hike to the top is strenuous and the heat is often intense, but the views from the summit are both stunning and unrivaled.

Love/Hate Hooiberg. Hate that I am sucking wind as I climb the stairs and that people jog by me on their 3rd trip up. Love the sense of accomplishment and the views of the island
