The place was worth going to. When open. you can enter the premises as you please, just be mindful of opening and closing the gates. There are plenty of aged donkeys everywhere, with some chickens and peacocks running about the place. Most are usually shaded under the trees or buildings trying to get away from the sun. Be careful walking through as there is feces everywhere. The main building is located toward the back of the property and there are items you can purchase for yourself such as refreshments, ice cream, and gifts. Pellet feed is available for sale to feed the donkeys. I do agree with some of the reviews that maybe vegetables would be best and they would appreciate the moisture in this arid climate. Nevertheless, the donkeys are quite gentle eating out of your hand. A water sink is present that can be used when your are done feeding them. If you love animals and see them mill about this is a must visit. The Peacock screaming does get annoying after a while though.

Such a cool experience! They are doing something special for the animals at donkey sanctuary Aruba. These animals are receiving the love and care they need. Visiting is free but you can donate. You are also able to purchase feed for the animals and sign up for adoption programs. The most amazing part about the experience is you are right there with the animals inside the pens. Walking, feeding and petting the animals seeing how loving and caring they are. If you love and care about animals please take some time to visit the sanctuary. All the animals will truly appreciate it and the sanctuary will thank you for your support.

First of all, the sanctuary is free, no entrance fee required. The donkeys are so adorable and friendly. If you decide to visit, please bring carrots and fruits so you can feed them good food or you can purchase feeds too in the sanctuary. The owner gave us a brief history telling us that donkeys are not native to Aruba. They were brought by colonizers mainly as water transporter in the island. But because of technological advancements, they are no longer needed to do that. So they were abandoned and most of them got hit by cars and died. They are very adorable.

Donkeys were so so sweet. A very independent sanctuary - you can roam around carefully on the premises and just pet the donkeys. They are all very friendly and well-acquainted with humans. So long as your careful, it’ll be okay! At the visitor center, there are staff members who can sell you feed and tell you about the donkeys if you have any questions. Pro-top: BYOV (Bring your own veggies). I saw other guests with carrots and the donkeys were so happy.

This place is heaven on earth and the people who work and volunteer here are angels. It’s free to visit but please make a donation! You can bring food for the donkeys (such as celery and carrots) and you can purchase feed on site at the gift shop. Make sure you feed the donkeys in the designated area so they don’t overwhelm you out in the open. There are also a ton of cats, kittens, peacocks, chickens, and roosters. This is one or our favorite spots in Aruba to hang out!

free entry. A private initiative to support donkeys run by a lovely lady. It's great to combine tourism with a form of helping these animals. just buy available food and feed a couple of donkeys.

How can you not give 5 stars. This is a free place to come and visit the donkeys who are in a safe environment. They have a lot of room to roam around and they are very friendly. We brought apples and carrots to feed them and the staff allowed us to do so. We are now making this a tradition to come back and visit the donkeys. Please make a donation as this sanctuary runs on donations and sponsors.

Love this place. Lots of donkeys, we also saw peacocks and cats and kittens. It’s free to get in and we brought apples, carrots and cat food as someone suggested. Before you head out, try the dushicoconut ice cream - just delicious! And if you can, please donate. This place is being run by volunteers- thank you volunteers!

We really enjoyed our visit to the sanctuary. We read about it before going, and so we brought apples and carrots to feed them. They definitely love them, and they do fight over the food. One gave us the cutest face when wanting more. It is a nice place for the donkeys, and the volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. We also walked through the paths, but be mindful of your surroundings, so you don't get injured.

Loved this place! We made a stop at Super Foods prior to going to buy bags of apples and carrots as well as a bag of cat food for the cats. They have knives, cutting boards and buckets to put the food in before you feed them. There was a large group of school children there visiting that day and we gave most of it to the kids to feed them. Great experience and one you won't want to miss. The volunteers there didn't interact at all with us. They could definitely benefit from engaging the visitos more and answering questions.

Such a cute place. The donkeys look at you with the saddest eyes and follow you waiting to be fed. There are so many chicks and peacocks roaming around. And best part is that it's completely free. But they do have 140 mouths to feed so a donation is appreciated.

One of my favourite places we visited while on the island. There were so many donkeys, peacocks, chickens, and cats here all roaming freely. There’s no entry fee, but you can donate as much as you want. There’s a small gift shop where you can buy food to feed the animals and souvenirs. We loved feeding the donkeys and birds. You would need a car to get here as I don't think there's a bus route.

This place is so cute! I loved visiting the donkey sanctuary. It was on our way back from the South Island and we stopped by for half an hour. This non profit takes in the abandoned donkeys from around the island. They even have a tripod donkey that they saved! They’re such sweet creatures and are clearly used to people. The visitor center sells feed for $1-$3 so you can feed them, but you can also bring carrots and apples! I bought a couple souvenirs to support the sanctuary since they have to feed 127 donkeys!

I’m glad we decided to stop here. The donkey sanctuary was a highlight of the trip for me. The sanctuary is free to enter and operates on donations. Go to the porch and feed the donkeys. You’re sure to get lots of smiles and personality from the donkeys. It was a fun afternoon!

Loved visiting this place! The donkeys are free to roam and you can pay to feed them! This sanctuary is home to many donkeys; you will also see a few donkeys roaming around Aruba that have not yet been rescued. The donkeys were very docile and just love to eat! A must see when visiting Aruba!

Wonderful docile creatures that are well cared for. Staff are knowledgeable and willing to educate. We brought a couple bags of carrots and enjoyed feeding the donkeys over the fence. We then entered through the gate and walked amongst them. Friendly animals that seem to genuinely enjoy company in this tranquil setting. Please consider donating as the staff work on a volunteer basis and donkeys are not inexpensive animals to feed. Will visit and donate again on our next trip to Aruba.

One of the highlights of our trip to Aruba. Nice place to give back to these loving animals who were simply set free because they're transportation services were no longer needed by the island. They were set free on the mid 1900s, being replaced by automobiles. If you have the opportunity, go and help the Donkey Sanctuary to continue to help them.

It was a very hot day and a few of the donkeys decided that they would take a nap. You can feed the donkeys and there is a rooster that also likes to hang out in the shade. This is part of the De Palm Tours for outback with the ATV. Wonderful tour guides. I just wished we could have stayed a little longer.

Highly recommend. This donkey sanctuary was one of the best things we did on the island. The donkeys are well taken care of. You'll see a few peacocks thrown in the mix. You can pet and feed the donkeys as well. You are welcome to stay as long as you want and entry is completely free. There's a little snack bar inside and some staff there to give you a bit of insight about the sanctuary itself.

Okay, first let me say, I need more stars to rate this wonderful place! The Donkey Sanctuary in Aruba was the most special experience I had while visiting the happy island! The sanctuary is located in a serene valley in Santa Cruz, Aruba. It is the home for injured or abused wild donkeys. The animals are gentle and love all the attention from visitors. Make sure to bring lots of apples and carrots to feed the donkeys. Cute gift shop and small snack bar onsite. The Donkey Sanctuary Aruba is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There's no admission fee to visit, but please make a donation to the organization's effort to save these sweet Aruban donkeys!

Very awesome! My wife wanted to do this with our toddler and I just agreed to go. I actually ended up really enjoying this much more than I thought I would. It's very relaxed. The volunteers there are awesome and answered all our questions and let you be to interact with the donkeys when you want. The donkeys are super sweet and let you pet them, brush them & hug them. I was a bit worried my 19 month old would be scared of them and with him feeding them but they were very gentle and he ended up loving it!! If you have some time go check it out and help them out as it's a good cause.

Worth a visit, lots of donkeys to see on a well maintained land. What can you do at the donkey sanctuary?: well you can purchase their food and feed them, which is a thrill, especially for kids, you can purchase some donkey souvenir at the gift shop and you can sit and have a drink and snacks.

What a wonderful sanctuary!!! Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. You can a very small amount and hand feed the donkeys. The donkeys are very friendly and enjoy pats. You can tell they are well cared for and loved. There is a nice little shop for a cute donkey souvenir or snack and drink-all reasonably priced. There are also several ways you can support the sanctuary available so check it out you can even adopt your own donkey for just $200 a year. Anytime I am in Aruba I will be going back to see these donkeys!

The donkeys are soo adorable!! I didn't even think donkeys were cute to me till I came here! You can feed the donkeys and don't be scared cause they're really friendly and don't bite (just keep your palm open as you feed them!). The food comes in two tin sizee: small or large. Small is $1 and large is $3. The tins are very well sized so it's definitely worth it. Additionally, there are peacocks just roaming around! The owners also have cats and they're really cute. On that note, the workers are also really sweet people!!

All the donkeys were so sweet! It’s a nice farm surrounded by beautiful desert. The volunteers were funny and kind. They take great care of the animals. We fed the donkeys and peacocks for $3 a bucket (I did three buckets.) They even serve beer and soda so we chilled with the donkeys while having a Chill beer. We went around 3pm and stayed til closing time at 4 and all the donkeys went to the barn for their hay and seeing all their bums lined up was so cute.

Donkey sanctuary in Aruba! This place is like a farm and you come and go as you wish. The sanctuary is for donkeys, but also has chickens, peacocks 🦚 and cats! You can feed the donkeys and pet them. Walk around and take all the pictures you wish. Please consider a donation or a gift shop purchase to support their cause. Some free parking available. Great little stop for kids.

If you love donkeys and having freedom to Rome with them then this is your place! The donkeys were well taken care of and it was a true joy to meet these sweet funny creatures! Tips… it’s dusty so don’t dress cute and you can bring apples and carrots but wait to feed them when you’re in the gated area near the shop. If you don’t you will be surrounded by hungry donkeys! Owner was very nice as well! Highly recommend!

Go visit the donkeys! If you have time, stop at the supermarket to get some carrots and apples to feed the donkeys. If you do not have time, they have pellet feed for purchase. You can walk around the grounds. You can feed the donkeys at a cool, breezy area in the middle. That area also has excellent WiFi and bathrooms! My kids ask to go every year just to visit the donkeys. This takes about an hour. There is parking outside. You can go via rental car or with a tour company (the first time we went, we used around Aruba tours).

Lovely sanctuary for the donkeys run by awesome, informative volunteers. Donations are always appreciated. Bring fresh fruits and carrots to feed them!!!! What a wonderful place to visit! We took cut up apples and carrots to feed the donkeys and the peacocks and chickens loved them, too. It was such a nice trip, we went back the next day with more treats for the adorable donkeys. It was an added bonus that we got to see the beautiful foal that had just recently been born. This will definitely be a stop on our trip next year!

Wild donkeys are part of the long standing history of the island. This is an awesome organization that provides healing and a home for injured donkeys. Upon arrival you will make your way thru the gates and down a path thru the baryard where several donkeys, chickens, roosters and peacocks are just hanging out. The donkeys are tame and approachable. Be prepared for the barnyard smells and donkey dodo. 🥴😉 There are a few fenced in areas, simple barn structures and an area that you can purchase pellets and feed the donkeys. Pellets are very reasonable. They also have a small gift shop with a nice selection of items. Keep in mind that it is a barnyard not a zoo when selecting your shoes and overall attire. The location is not suited for elderly or disabled who have difficulty walking unassisted or for baby strollers. However it is something all ages can enjoy and appreciate. We found the staff and volunteers to be very friendly and helpful. Its free to visit but donations are greatly appreciated and used toward the care for the animals.

Pet, feed, brush and hug very friendly donkeys for free. Please be sure to buy something/donate to support their efforts however. It's a sanctuary, not a zoo. Beers, sodas, chips and candy available as well as gifts shop. Easiest and most fun to get to with some sort of offroad vehicle, but accessible by regular vehicle as well. Clean and beautiful facilities.

My wife MADE us go here... but we all LIKED it! Fairly easy to get to (although their signs are kind of small) and it was not crowded at all when we arrived. We learned about, hugged/petted and fed about 130 donkeys there, as well as the peacocks and roosters . We also did some shopping at a small gift shop in the visitors center (bumper stickers, t-shirts, etc.). No frills or flash here... just good people doing good work for animals. Would recommend and will go again if on the island.

This place is simple yet enjoyable for all ages. 1. The donkeys are adorable and they patiently wait for you to feed them (bring apples and carrots). 2. I really liked walking among them instead of feeding/seeing them in a gated area (they’re very calm and like having visitors) 3. The visitor’s center has funny donkey related tshirts and other items for purchase. 4. There are lots of peacocks and chickens walking around as well.

Such a quaint and wholesome little spot on the island. Aside from donkeys, there are various birds including peacocks, as well as several cats. The desert flora is especially beautiful on this portion of the island in the foothills of Jamanota. I just hope that they begin selling their merch/swag online.
