Independent
kiters:
do
not
waste
your
time
at
this
beach.
The
gusty
offshore
winds
combined
with
huge
wind-shadows
near
shore
make
this
a
difficult
spot
to
get
home
from.
Local
instructors
will
tell
you
they
routinely
rescue
pro's
as
well
as
beginners.
Tip
for
those
that
venture
out
anyway:
if
you
struggle
to
get
back
to
shore,
kite
as
far
upwind
as
you
can
south
of
the
reef
and
then
ditch
on
your
next
tack
across
the
reef
heading
North.
(You
can
tell
where
the
reef
is
because
small
waves
break
across
it.)
You
can
walk
back
to
shore
in
a
straight
line
from
the
reef.
If
you
find
yourself
stuck
downwind
of
the
reef,
signal
for
rescue
as
soon
as
possible.
DO
NOT
ditch
north
of
the
shipwreck.
Although
this
course
looks
like
a
close
swim
to
shore,
the
current
is
very
strong
and
you
will
almost
certainly
need
to
be
rescued.
Booties
are
recommended
for
this
beach
as
portions
of
the
shore
line
are
very
rocky.
For
beginners,
this
beach
is
fine
for
lessons
since
all
the
instructors
have
boats.
For
better
kiting,
head
to
Boca
Grandi.
It's
worth
the
drive.
