We did nine dives in three days. Carlos and Wendy were great! Very knowledgeable and professional. Very safety oriented. Dive briefings were clear and concise. The dive sites were beautiful and we did not have to travel a long way to get to them. Captain Hubert did a great job with the boat and helped us with anything we needed. This was an entirely different experience than working with the usual dive shop. This is not your normal dive shop. These guys do it right! Instead of walking onto a boat with all gear pre-configured and thrown into the water with a dive master, Carlos & Wendy went to great lengths to ensure our dive re-education, gear setup, understanding & safety. Our last dive was March 2020, the month the world shut down and closed its borders.. we were admittedly rusty. The wreck we chose to dive was a bit more advanced. During travel to the site, we were made aware of water conditions and provided with Plan A and Plan B... ...and yes.. When we arrived at the site, there was some big water and the boat moving with the rapid swells after it was tied off to the dive line. We knew exactly how we needed to rapidly get all divers in the water, stay organized and descend. It was a tense moment - a few of the divers had some anxiety.. Instead of getting back in the boat and quitting, Carlos & Wendy kept us focused, calm and in control. Upon decent, the chaos of the surface was left behind. We explored Aruba's underwater world and the Jane C. They brought us down to one of the best dives of our lives. The "different experience" is not just how wonderful these people are, but that they truly care about each other, their divers & safety and having a perfect dive in Aruba. We will undoubtedly be back to see our friends in Aruba.

I had the opportunity to spend the day and get in a a 3 tank dive. The boat is spacious and designed for diving. All entry and exit is from the rear platform. The equipment rental was easy and in good shape. I felt safe with the entire crew and saw the largest green eel over 5-6 feet long. The reefs are beautiful and healthy. The current might be a struggle but we just drifted instead of fighting and the boat came to us.

Wendy and Carlos were very nice and professional. Dive shop was clean, nice, comfortable, and professional. I did a two tank dive and it was great! I enjoyed the trip and Wendy and Carlos. They were very safety oriented and helpful in general. I would dive with them again in the future and I definitely would recommend them.

It was my first time diving and we chose Mermaid. It is a family run business - run by local Arubans. The first day was just training. On the second day, we went diving twice on the same run. Met Carlos his wife Wendy and the rest of the people going with us at the shop and rode with him to the boat at the marina. On the dive, Carlos was patient with me and my uncle - helped me through the training steps. Underwater we communicated well and he was attentive to any inquiries that I had. Before choosing Mermaid, I read some comments on here and didn’t know what to expect with the staff. I can say that Carlos has a lot of personality, uniqueness and animation. Some people may be turned off by him at first but I recommend giving him a chance; he’s a good guy. Wendy and the boat Captain Humberto were also really nice.

We were visiting Aruba in July, so we booked a dive with Mermaid Dive Shop. As a family, my sons and I just got certified, while my husband has been certified for maybe 35 years or more. Due to a storm, our dive got re-scheduled from a Tuesday to a Friday. That made me nervous, because our main reason for this trip was to dive there as our first "family dive." Thankfully, the storm was a one day thing and Friday ran without a hitch. We met as agreed, and were treated very well and helped with our rental equipment, which was all in really good shape. On the boat, there were a total of 8 people. We were divided and Carlos was the one that "guided" us. He was aware of the fact that my teenage sons and I are "newbies", so he took us under his wing to keep a good eye on us. He was perfect! I felt so safe and we enjoyed ourselves so much. We did one dive, had light lunch, and then a drift dive. He took my camera from me so he could snap underwater pictures of us too. His crew was awesome! Let me add that I needed extra work. I was unsure of my balance and was scared to get in the water. They were so good to me and helped me with the process. I felt well taken care of. My husband has been on countless dives all over the world and he said this was one of the best dives he has been on. We saw all kinds of fish, a turtle, barracuda, lion fish, etc. He said the water was some of the clearest he has ever seen. We are really glad we went with Mermaid diving. They treated us like family and we highly recommend them.

Honestly could not recommend Carlos and Wendy Hill more highly! They are incredibly accommodating, safety is of paramount importance and we just had a wonderful time. I took a chance on this crew - off Carnival Ship - not even a 15 min walk from the ship to the dive boat (seen in my image up load) it’s just over there. There was some confusion / miss communication of the booking but all was politely and rapidly sorted out. (Perhaps re confirm your intent) Equipment provided was very adequate and crew were very contentious and rate very high on my list of really good scuba service providers. Thanks - definitely re booking for my next Aruba visit

We just completed another 10 dives with Carlos, Wendy and Hubert. Our second time here. What a great crew and lots of fun to dive with. Also a shout out to Daniel for his instruction on my stepson's Advance Open Water certification. We look forward to returning in the future.

Carlos and Wendy are great! My wife had never been diving before and Carlos did a great job making sure she felt comfortable! He even took my go pro with him on the second dive so we could get photos of us diving together.

We joined Carlos and Wendy for six days of diving. Safety and service are the hallmarks of Mermaid Dive Center. Wonderful dive sites and dive briefings. Water, juice and snacks between dives and fresh fruit on the boat for the trip to the dock. Hotel pickup if needed or meet at the dive center for the short ride to the dive boat. The day after lion fish are caught you’ll enjoy ceviche prepared by the captain. Delicious! We had a great time with a very nice group of people each day we met on Mermaid. Several people we met are regulars with Mermaid. The reason is once you purchase a dive package with a Mermaid you receive a tee shirt and a lifetime membership that provides a discount on all future dives! We bring our own gear and Mermaid rinsed and stored our gear each day. We did rent wetsuits for protection (full wetsuits recommended) and complete gear is available for rental as well. Of course air and weights are provided. Thank you Carlos and Wendy for making our diving fantastic and safe. We look forward to joining you in the future.

As an experienced diver I had high expectations of Mermaid Divers and they fulfilled every expectation I had. Carlos and Wendy were the 2 best dive masters we’ve ever had and they went above and beyond for everyone on the boat. The dive boat captain was also a great addition to all of our dives. We made 9 dives with Mermaid and I would recommend them to anyone looking for the perfect dive experience in Aruba. We will be back!

I did the 8 dive package (9 dives) with a refresher course. Carlos and Wendy were great dive leaders and have a great crew. Carlos has 45 years of diving experience doing everything from underwater welding at more than 250 ft to leading great recreational dive expeditions. I felt very safe. They also have some of the best prices in Aruba. Each of the three days I went we had a relatively small group of 4-9 divers total. I definitely recommend catching the J/C wreck.

This was the best dive boat experience I've had in 30 years. Carlos and Wendy run a family scuba dive operation. Wendy was the best dive leader. Very informative, safe, clear and lead the way from start to finish. Very friendly and professionally run. I tested them out of the first dive and stayed diving with them every day of the week.
