An
intimate,
home-cooked
Venezuelan-inspired
meal
in
the
courtyard
of
your
favourite
aunt
and
uncle's
house
-
except
instead
of
a
table
full
of
family,
you're
sitting
with
10
strangers
from
different
corners
of
the
world.
That
is
the
best
way
to
describe
what
was
the
most
enjoyable
and
memorable
experience
we
had
in
Aruba
while
we
were
there
celebrating
our
20th
Anniversary.
When
my
husband
suggested
we
go
to
dinner
on
our
last
night
at
a
place
that
had
no
menu
and
you
just
ate
what
was
cooked,
I'll
admit,
I
turned
my
nose
up
a
little
bit.
But,
with
such
raving
reviews,
we
had
to
give
La
Tavola
a
try.
He
called
in
the
morning
to
make
reservations
and
we
were
lucky
enough
to
get
in
for
dinner
since
they
only
accommodate
10-12
or
so
people.
Immediately
on
the
phone
I
could
hear
the
happy,
bubbly,
yet
very
genuine
Anna
explain
about
how
there
isn't
a
menu
but
described
what
was
being
served.
She
also
explained
that
if
we
didn't
like
one
course
she
could
supplement
it
with
more
of
another
course.
Very
accommodating,
but
we
wanted
to
try
everything.
We
arrived
at
what
looked
like
a
home
instead
of
a
'restaurant'
and
were
immediately
greeted
by
Anna's
warm
and
welcoming
smile
and
infectious
personality.
We
introduced
ourselves
and
were
seated
at
the
single
long
table
for
12
in
her
courtyard
which
was
outfitted
with
lights
and
music
and
the
most
beautiful
ambiance.
From
the
table,
you
overlooked
the
kitchen
inside
with
open
doors
where
Juan
Carlos,
who
was
just
as
friendly,
outgoing,
and
welcoming
was
cooking
up
a
beautiful
storm. The
remainder
of
the
guests
came
trickling
in
over
the
next
hour
-
though
each
course
of
the
meal
was
served
at
different
times
based
on
when
you
came.
The
night
ended
with
a
shot
of
Venezuelan
rum.
12
strangers
came
together
literally
and
figuratively
'breaking
bread'
together
-
talking,
laughing,
discussing
what
we
had
done
and
seen
on
the
island
learning
about
where
each
guest
was
from
and
their
reason
for
visiting
Aruba.
Even
though
we're
a
bit
introverted,
we
had
the
best,
most
unique,
and
memorable
experience
here.
The
food?
AMAZING,
5-star
all
around,
Juan
Carlos
is
an
amazing
chef
(and
artist!),
and
his
passion
for
good
food
comes
shining
through.
The
atmosphere
and
experience?
Can't
be
rated.
INCREDIBLE.
If
I
could
make
one
suggestion
for
improvement,
it
would
be
to
have
a
staff
member
clear
plates
so
that
Anna
has
more
time
to
focus
on
just
being
the
hostess
and
mingling
with
guests.
I
would
have
loved
to
spend
more
time
talking
to
her
and
learning
about
her
and
Juan
Carlos
the
way
we
learned
about
the
others
at
our
table
because
I
felt
like
their
story
would
be
the
most
interesting
of
them
all.
My
only
hope
is
that
the
small
intimate
nature
of
La
Tavola
never
changes.
It
feels
intimate,
and
exclusive
yet
incredibly
welcoming
and
personal.
I
don't
know
when
I
will
be
back
to
Aruba,
but
I
will
definitely
be
eating
here.
Thank
you
Anna
and
Juan
Carlos
for
creating
such
a
special
atmosphere
and
experience
for
your
guests.
We
feel
so
lucky
to
have
had
this
experience.
Your
Canadian
friends,
Meghan
&
Dion
