Where do I start? This was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had visiting Aruba. To have a lovely couple welcome us into their home that is now a beautiful art gallery filled with art representing Native Aruba was a blessing. Anthony and his wife were warm, made us feel at home while Educating us on Aruba’s culture. The art will speak to you like you would not imagine. He took his time explaining what each piece represented. The couple even gave us gifts towards the end of the tour!! Please make this a MUST when visiting Aruba! You won’t regret it.

Best Caribbean Heritage Experiencie! We haved traveled all over the Caribbean and I can't remember another experience remotely similar to Etnia Nativa. Mr.Anthony Croes is a living embodiment of the blended cultures of Aruba and his home is full of energy and passion for provinding visitors an authentic glimpse of the culture, history, art, archaeology, botany and architecture of the island. Take some time off from the beach scene and make an appointment to visit! You won't be disappointed!

I LOVED the art. I also loved how everything is recycled in one way or another. Anthony is an amazing artist and full of knowledge with a deep history in Aruba. He and his wife Silvia are very very friendly. I can’t stress how much I personally enjoyed my visit. If I ever come back, I’m going to for sure visit them again! 🥰

If u have passion towards the island and have been tired of museums, Anthony is someone u have to see. It’s not only the local history u will be amazed of, but also the broad knowledge he knows towards the world will shake u. It’s an extreme pleasant talk with Anthony, I’m curious about everything and he is very patient explaining to me one by one on a level of ethnography. He cares about Aruban identity, he loves plants, knowing where they r from, living in a green and recycling way. There r tons of artworks Anthony created hanging all over the house, absolute stunning. After the conversation, even I, a tourist who knew nothing about the land before, raised a sense of love towards Aruba. Even though now I’ve left Aruba, I am sure I will be back in the future to spend an afternoon once more with Anthony. I’ll always miss the time listening to his enthusiastic perspectives regarding the life.

Beautiful place full of amazing art! If someone wants to discover how it is to live in Aruba and how Native Americans were living on an island - this is the best place for that. I'm amazed by creativity and idea of recycled art and house. We've got fresh water from Silvia, interesting tour and big portion of knowledge and inspiration from Anthony. Thank you very much for this colorful experience!

This is the most amazing place!!! If you are looking to find out about Aruba beyond the tourist beaches, you must go here. Anthony’s knowledge of Aruban history and culture is astounding. The hour tour flew by; I could have listened to him talk for several more. Silvia, Anthony’s wife, is amazing in her generosity and hospitality. On the practical side, do call or email ahead to schedule a visit. Contrary to TripAdvisor and Google listings, tours are by appointment only.

Anthony and Sylvia were so nice. The tour was great, we enjoyed looking at all the different art pieces as well as getting glimpses into Aruba’s history from the time of the native Arawaks into the present. I would definitely recommend a visit here to get a better understanding of Aruba and how it came to be.

We had a chance to visit during our spring break, and four of us got to spend an hour plus talking with Anthony about his unique artwork and its connection to the natural world. We learned more of the history of the island and how Anthony reuses materials and patterns from indigenous artifacts in his work. The house and garden are beautiful, Anthony and Sylvia are wonderful hosts, and the artwork and discussion gave all of us a greater appreciation for Aruba’s history, development and its Arawak heritage. And yes, they give you gifts at the end and cold water and juice along the way given the great hosts that they are.

For those who are searching for an anthropological, and botanical tour guide of Aruba, this is the man and place you must book. August Anthony Croes is a jack of all trades, ranging from Art, architecture, botany, folk medicine and archeology to name a few. His family history dates back to the 1600s and he takes great pride in his heritage, making this tour extremely informative for those in search of local information. Much to see in his home which he has built from top to bottom. You must book 24 hours in advance, and you won't be disappointed.

Anthony & Sylvia are very welcoming of guests into their home. It gives you a nice taste of what it’s like to live in Aruba from a true native. The home is very beautiful & the people are very nice but it’s hard to understand the $25 fee. I think it would be nice if they did a light meal in the back part of the courtyard at the large table with groups of 8 with a short presentation on the history of Aruba or some sort of local topic. That way visitors get to utilize & understand the space better.

Anthony and Silvia's home is a true inspiration -- colorful and lush, made solely of found materials, filled with stories. Anthony is a steward of native Aruban knowledge, and we had a wonderful time learning from him about his family, about native folklore, about the changes he's seen in Aruba in the decades he's lived here. His art is incredible. Visit Etna Nativa if you are yearning to understand more about the history and culture of Aruba.
