I did not want to give it a star. I rented a truck for me and my relatives. The truck had multiple dents in it. We had to take pictures of it. It had not been cleaned and smelled like an ashtray. Windows did not always work as well as the locks.Wipers were not the best. The first day the battery was dead. I did not leave the lights on. We had reservations in which we missed. The tires were not the best and after driving it it felt like something was wrong with the front end. We returned it at 10AM on a Friday. Nobody was even there. My cousin fortunately was flying out after and was able to watch them finally arrive. He went to tell them my concerns and they would not listen. They even asked why I did not return it? I did on time. I emailed them with my concerns. No reply. Do not rent from them!

Rented a vehicle for 1 day, upon return was charged $100 for a made up "repair" fee for 2 hair like clear coat scratches that are really hard to see, I had to ask them to show them to me (try spotting them in the attached photo,(hint: 2 dustless spots)) and very well possible were there before we rented a vehicle. Manager told us they use VERY expensive polish to fix these. Although all the vehicle I saw on their parking lot had tons of dents and scratches. I'm positive that is just a way they rip people of some extra $$$ so BEWARE. Another client was there with a broken mirror issue and he was told to either drive like that or give up a vehicle he had and they had no substitute vehicle for him for another 2 weeks. It is a safety issue to drive vehicle with a broken mirror and should never be put in service like that. Update 03/07/23 after Amigo rental responded: I'm attaching picture of a passenger front door part you told me you saw some scratches on, I wasn't able to find any and took pictures because of it. And you didn't include this in any official report, so you knew there was no damage. Yes the car was almost new, and this is very usual for rental, it doesn't mean people should be scammed of their money because of almost invisible imperfections, and rest of you fleet looked like garbage too, which means you never take care of of any scratches and dents anyway, so it is in fact just about taking extra money. And you just intentionally had amnesia about 2 week wait for the new vehicle you offered to another person who was very upset with your service. Most people go to Aruba for short vacation and don't have 2 weeks to wait for substitute car, and you knew it. So if anyone is hiding detail here, it is Amigo rental, and you just exposed your real dishonesty to the public. And your answer to my question on why you are charging me $100 for something I can hardly see was: "we are using very expensive polish" was just a spit into customers' face.

We recently rented a car for our week long stay. They picked us up at our hotel, and we were able to pay $10 extra to drop off at the airport location. We did have a problem with the car, but they were at our hotel within an hour to fix it. We found that their refuel fee was actually cheaper than refueling ourselves. My only complaint was that they only had 1 person working at drop off. It took a good 30 minutes to drop off.

AVOID. Never again!!! The truck I rented had the right window broken once I got it. Also, BEWARE of the “insurance” policy which they do not explain at all (does NOT account for other cars hitting you!!!). Amigo never took responsibility for the front desk person failing to explain to me the protocol for accidents. If you are renting a 4x4 vehicle insurance does not cover any damage done in Arikok. I was offered insurance which I purchased and ultimately did nothing. After being hit by another car in a hit and run I ended up owing over a thousand dollars. If you do not file police reports for all damage they will charge the maximum. On the phone, they told me that even if I did file a police report, I would have to pay everything regardless of me buying insurance! What is the point of their insurance at all? I ended up spending around $2000 for a one week rental including insurance which did NOTHING for me, even though another car hit me!!!!

We have rented from Amigo for years and have been happy with the service. But this year we booked and when we got our confirmation there was NO mention of having to sign a ''cleaning fee'' agreement when picking up the car. If I declined then I would be cancelling my reservation with no notice and pay for the rental. The ''cleaning fee'' included; sand on carpet - $20, excessive sand (and no one would explain excessive sand) - $35, plus more and up to $100. We are in Aruba for god sakes - there's dirt and sand everywhere!! I checked with another car rental and they don't require this signing. Be careful - you might get dinged for just driving the car!! Might have to check elsewhere next year. 1/7/20 - there is no reply button to the owners response so I am editing my first review. Amigo responded to my first review positively but added '' we specify on the form that it's to preserve the vehicle''. I ask then why surprise the customer with this at pickup and also with a threat of a cancellation fee. You are a good biz, WHY NOT BE UPFRONT WITH THIS AT BOOKING / CONFIRMATION TIME?

I have been renting cars from Amigo for 8 years- each time we come down. While they are definitely not the greatest cars(condition is poor at best), they were always easy to deal with and quite affordable. This will be the last time I rent from them. I agreed on a base model rental with confirmation email. When I got to the office to pick up, there were 2 groups in front of me. The woman behind the desk was alone and I waited almost 2 hours to finally get my car. I saw it wasn't a base model, but assumed similar and was just happy to get out of there. Upon being given the price to pay, I asked why it was so high. She answered with "taxes and fees' - I was so eager to be gone that I paid and left. Come to find out they have me a higher priced model without asking or even telling me and now refuse to refund the difference. There are no base cars to swap with and I am beyond annoyed as I got the base model that was over $120 less ... I am on vacation and have been saving for a while - I got the base model from Amigo for the cost just to be jerked around and scammed out of my money. I will never rent here again.

Absolutely horrible service!! We were leaving the car at the airport - noone bothered to be at their office to accept the car. We received no instructions whatsoever. So we had to buy a sim card and call them.. the lady told us to leave it in front of the office. So we did. Then she called us that we didn't drive the car to their dedicated parking spot which she didn't mention at all and that we will be charged some fines from our deposit??! This company should get employees who know what they're doing and can communicate with a customer. Responding here to the comment below: Both of the statements are a lie - you asked us what time was our Flight - the flight was at 12 and we said we'll be there 3 hours earlier. I spoke with the lady on the phone and told her I was in front of the office and she told me to leave it there. Absolutely no mention of any dedicated parking lot. Truly bizarre that you are still in business.

We reserved the cheapest car available at Amigo car rental for a period of 2 weeks. On the website the insurance was stated to be included in the price. At the office we were told we had to pay an extra insurance per day since the insurance they promoted was third party liabilty insurance, which the lady told us basically did not include anything 🤔 Additionally, we had to sign the extra charges for sand on the mats (20$), excessive sand on the mats (35$), sunscreen on the chairs and several other extra charges, which can be expected on a sandy vacation island. We thus cancelled our reservation since the extra insurance would have exceeded our budget. Cancellation fee was one day rental. We used the car for that one day. After returning the car at the airport we were told that the deposit would be cancelled within 3 days. This was not done and at the end of our stay we had to reassure the deposit would be cancelled. The airport office has no office hours and when we arrived at 11 AM on Saturday noone was there since the office opens according to the car reservations of that day 🤨. We drove to the main office where they first asked to go back to the airport to fix the issue - should the main office not be able to take care of this since it's the main office? Anyways, after I refused the lady at the main office called the lady at the airport to cancel the reservations. When we asked for a written confirmation of the cancellation we were told they cannot do this at the main office and that we had to go to the office at the airport. Is it not possible to send an email to confirm the cancellation? Based on our experience with Amigo Car rental we would not recommend it.

Inexpensive car rental but you will pay for it in headaches!! We rented a car for a day, it was a new car and when we got back they tried to keep our $500 deposit by saying we scratched the car. We most certainly did not! It was mud and dirt from the rain earlier that day. We proved it by wiping it off and arguing with 3 people.I am now home, just checked my credit card and there is a $500 charge pending!! I now have to call the credit company and stop the charge. Not worth it, I will never use them again and would not recommend.

Their site is not up to date with their availability. Made a booking (on too short notice), entered credit card details and got a confirmation of the request. However when I arrived at the office, it turns out they were already fully booked for two months. They did call me back to apologise, so that is nice of them.

The insurance is useless and does not cover hit and run. We had a car scrape us in a parking lot and they charged us $1000. The car had numerous issues including many small dents, a broken tail light and front bumper held on with rivets. I wonder how many people were charged for those damages which were clearly never repaired. We are disputing the charge with our credit card company

I left my car with a full tank even though I received 5/8. It is truly unfair you can't give back a couple of bucks in return even in chocolates, key chain or water, but if you are short on gas, then you'll pay the most expensive gas in the island. BTW. I'm regular costumer but just want you to get better.

We were doubting this place after reading all the bad reviews! We consulted with them before arriving to Aruba. They reply fast and they were very friendly. When we got there the process was fast and easy they gave us a brand new truck and the staff was polite. We returned the truck washed and with the same diesel we got it. They didn't charged any extra fees and we also got offered a ride back to our Airbnb. We will be renting from Amigo every time we visit Aruba for sure👌🏼 Thank you guys!

Good service and personnel is willing to help you (pick-up and return to hotel or airport). Vehicles are not always the most recent but the airco is working and on Aruba that's the most important. Can advise this rental car office.

Do not rent from Amigo! The car we rented had a battery or electrical problem that cused it to not start on two occasions. Reaching the after hours service took multiple calls and caused us to have to use a taxi to make our dinner reservations. Service jumped the battery and we were able to use the car to explore the island the next day. An Amigo service man came out that morning. checked the battery and said it was a new battery and we shouldn't have another problem We did not use the car for a day after that and when we went to go to dinner the next night, it wouldn't start again! Battery may be new, but there must be some other issue, maybe the alternator? Again, contacting service was problematic! Again, we had to take a taxi to make our dinner reservation. The next day Amigo sent a new car, a brand new one. No problems with that car for the rest of our vacation, except someone in a parking lot, dinged the front passenger door. Hardly visible and did not crack the paint. When we returned the car to the airport, the agent noted the ding and said we would be responsible for repair. It was barely visible, did not crack the paint, and what car in Aruba does not have door dings due the the wind!! I said that, not only should I not be responsible for the ding, but Amigo should reimburse me for the inconvenience, lack of use or the car, and my taxis fares. The agent asked me if I had receipts for the taxi. I did not. Who asks for receipts for the taxi in Aruba?? Bottom line, I have been charged $488 dollars and been given a one day rebate for my inconvenience! Needless to say I will not be renting from Amigo again and suggest you do not either. If you do, ask for a car that has already been dinged by the wind, make sure to take photos and make sure all, even very minor dings are reported on the sign out sheet. Also, also get taxi receipts. Very poor, non existent, customer service or customer care. Fred Reever

Rental was straight forward. It was either pay $50 for a 1 way taxi fare to beach or rent car for 1 day (9-430) for $42. No brainer. They pick you up and drop you off hotel. Be ready for big deposit but highly recommend. Will rent again on next visit.

We rented two vehicles from Amigo this year, and two last year, for our annual vacation in Aruba. The staff were friendly, the price was very competitive with the other providers, and we had no complaints what-so-ever. They respond rapidly to emails. We were in and out of their airport office in mere minutes and on our way to our rental house. I highly recommend Amigo rent-a-car for your Aruban getaway!

We found Amigo to be a v good rental company. I was picked up promptly from my accommodation to collect the car. The car was clean and appeared well maintained. I opted for the CDW which covered up to USD 500 of damage, and read the 'return car reasonably clean' conditions - all quite reasonable. The hire went well and the USD 500 hold deposit was cancelled promptly from my card account. I would definitely recommend Amigo based on my experience

I make business with amigo since the last 9 years ; great services, they help me when i had flights problems and they found solutions for me. I definitly recommend Amigo. When you bring back the car, if you take care of the car like it is yours, never had a single problems. Good way to begin yours holidays with them

If you are looking for a beaten up over-priced unsafe vehicle, this is the place to go! Very old cars poorly cared for. Make sure you at least check the tire pressure before you leave the place in case you will still rent from this place … or better just stay away.

The price of monthly rental is better than most other rental businesses in Aruba, unfortunately the utility of the car is very poor. The first car we were given did not have working headlights so we returned it for another. The second car also has issues with the lights but if you keeping vigorously flicking switch they eventually work. Seats are in poor shape. They should maintain and service their vehicles better.

WORST COMPANY EVER !!!!!!! SAVE YOURSELF FROM A RUINED VACATION AND DO NOT RENT FROM HERE !!!!! If I could give this company minus1000 stars I would. Please be aware that they rent vehicles in unsafe condition. I rented a vehicle with my mother and nothing operated as it should have. We never felt save driving it, the tires literally shook on the highway. The doors never locked and the power windows didn't work. Every time we brought the vehicle in to let them know they gave us something else with new problems and never once apologized for the inconvenience. Do yourself a HUGE favor and do not rent from this unaccountable business who provides ZERO resolution on their broken vehicles !!!!!!

WATCH OUT! We rented 3 cars at once. All the cars had bad tyres and some parts of the steering wheel where missing. Also the tyres on the car where not the same. Some where winter/allseason and some where summer. The cars drove really unsafe, braking is about 15 meter on a dry normal road with 50 km/h. We had 3 times the Hyundai accent. Maybe if you rent the pick up it would be better. These cars where very unsafe. They are lucky that we didn't crash, because then it would have been their fault because the tyres had no profile.
