Great hikes with some elevation gains of about 600 feet, unfortunately it's not pet friendly, so leave your pup's at home. The big tree is really impressive and they have a few benches to sit down and enjoy the view.

I arrived too late to connect with the handicapped shuttle, a wonderful service. Arrive early for many reasons. Pack a picnic. Enjoy the beautiful walk down to the theater area. Mother nature & the Mountioneers do a fabulous job making this a beautiful experience. Both times, I've attended with my young grandkids, and they were enthralled with the short hike & the performances. I highly recommend that if you're from out of town or out of state, put this on your to-do list.

🤠🤠🤠🤠 This is by far the most beautiful and majestic, magical, enchanting forest 😍😍😍😍 We were mesmerized by all the natural beauty of this trail 💯 and you know what got my attention, I felt like I was on "The moon of Endor" (if you're a Star Wars fan and like the Ewoks 😉😉😉😉 this is the perfect place to visit. I'm telling you, or even a big fan of Lord of the Rings or any other movies which feature a magical green with giant trees 🏞️💯💚 I suggest you visit and see for yourself. Beautiful trail to take your family on a real adventure. The Big Tree Trail is a blast and a true hidden treasure, we will definitely be back. We just did the trail but there is more wonderful things to do here, like that theater in the woods. Maybe we'll be back to see a play. 💚💚💚💚

We went to watch a production of Sound of Music. The show was very organized. Plenty of volunteers to assist and give directions. Well-orchestrated ingress and egress. Free parking.

Big Tree was so great for our kids. At the end, my Little said, happily "I'm not even TIRED!!" even though she was definitely working hard. Just a sweet hike.

I love this place. I got drenched today, but I'm in better shape today to do this than I was the first time I did which was summer of 2018. I am healthier today and was more able to get this done without stopping, and I look like a wet wrap! The t-shirt in pink was when I was 40 lbs less than I am now. I'm just layered today to try and stay warm, but I was 194.

This place is a little hard to find the turn off of the main road if you're not careful. It may look like you're turning into someone's driveway (and you may be) but that's what you're looking for. The driveway meanders back to the parking lot. The trail to Big Tree is a little rugged and there are more elevation changes than I think I was ready for, but the forest is magical, the little fairy touches are delightful, and if you're athletic enough you can make it the whole way to this magnificent tree.

This was a great experience. Loved the show and everone was so kind. I can't wait to go back and see every show they put on. My 3yr old and 1yr old loved it, don't be afraid to take the little ones it is great for them.

Beautiful older forest, with a nice little hike. There are a couple steep places but nothing too bad. Kids should be walking well for this one.
