As
a
British
citizen
I
was
in
SHOCK
when
I
was
thrown
into
this
place
while
being
on
holiday.
Never
have
I
EVER
in
my
life
experienced
such
hell.
Are
all
American
units
like
this!?
God
I
hope
not.
The
uk
psychiatric
wards
are
like
the
ritz
compared
to
this!?
First
I
was
forced
to
stay
in
a
room
with
a
woman
with
severe
Schizophrenia
who
was
shouting
and
swearing
she
wanted
to
kill
me
and
generally
just
scaring
the
living
daylights
out
of
me
I
had
a
mattress
no
pillow,
cover
or
douvet
and
it
was
DISGUSTING.
When
awaking
after
well
no
sleep
we
were
all
forced
into
one
room-
men
and
women
and
locked
out
of
our
rooms
completely.
There
was
one
tv
on
for
us
all
to
watch.
No
other
sort
of
entertainment
or
anything
that
I
could
think
that
would
help
someone
struggling-
music/books/art/yoga/mindfulness
etc.
I
was
in
some
sort
of
prisoners
uniform.
We
were
fed
burgers
for
breakfast
and
lunch
that
I
couldn’t
even
think
about
eating.
Staff
were
loud
and
verbally
abusive.
I
have
never
been
so
terrified
of
anywhere
in
my
life.
So
many
people
who
shouldn’t
have
been
locked
in
there
mixed
with
well
the
clinically
insane.
I
heard
constant
screams
from
another
floor
and
was
told
people
were
chained
to
walls
up
there.
Jesus
I
would
rather
DIE
then
ever
step
foot
in
there
again.
I
waited
what
seemed
a
lifetime
to
speak
to
anyone
and
thank
god
thank
god
they
realised
I
really
shouldn’t
have
been
there
when
they
eventually
discharged
me.
Having
not
even
been
there
24
hours
I
thank
god
for
getting
me
out
of
there.
There
is
no
way
in
HELL
this
place
would
allowed
to
be
open
in
the
uk.
And
god
I
felt
sorry
for
all
those
people
cooped
up
In
there
with
nothing
but
empty
walls
to
stare
at.
This
place
is
just
wrong-
so
wrong.
I
feel
like
suing
the
place
for
the
trauma
it
caused
i
stil
have
nightmares
about
it
years
later.
