To think that i've recommended this place to people is such an embarrassment now. This mediterranean restaurant was the first restaurant i've been to in Tucson since moving here 3 years ago & the service has declined a great deal. I place my orders for pickup online & through delivery partners for pickups, on my way back from work and to be treated with such awful service when I walk up to the counter is very upsetting. Not sure if its the young mans first night, all he says "hold on a sec." forgets about me for about 7 minutes, I come up and ask about the order, he couldn't find it i give him my name 3 times while wearing a name badge that says my name on, and mind you I go to this place every week. After going back and forth one of the workers came up from the kitchen and pointed out my order which was shoved on corner of the register where people actually order and it was ready this whole time. I got home, I live in downtown and my food was cold. The service is just pure rudeness. You serve Mediterranean food and you serve it disrespectfully & this is coming from someone from that culture. ***Added receipt for FULL view of my name. Responses really reflect the amount of disrespect and inconsiderableness from this business. Almost like a child handling their online reviews not a business owner. When the main issue discussed was rudeness (not time) and the response is rudeness, it says a lot about the service.

The gentleman so pleasant and very nice. As soon as we got inside he greeted us and said he’d be right with us. Once we ordered he made some food suggestions and boy was it good! Food was super yummy! Fresh no greasy food here. The salad was fresh! Everything was on point! Visiting from out of state and I wish there was a place like this back home. I was really impressed with a one man show putting in at least 6-7 online orders plus ours. Each time he had each order ready and done before the pick up person was there. Amazing food and great service!

This place was amazing. The food was incredibly fresh, we tried a little bit of everything, and of course everything was delicious! We were in the best food coma after leaving, it was marvelous. The service was spectacular, great at helping us navigate the menu, and incredibly polite. The restaurant is incredibly clean inside as well. You must try this place out of you haven't already!

Had the rice bowl chicken shawarma and it did not disappoint! The rice was fabulous. It was all great but I really like tumeric rice. Nice size portion and the proprietor was extremely nice.

Decent service and edible food, but not worth the $20. The baklava was literally 2 bites, definitely not anywhere close to a $4 dessert.

Urban pita had good young interiors. We ordered the Veggie plate combo and sandwich. The food at urban pita was good, there were limited options for vegetarians. The flavors were average and the meal was fresh. 3 stars since we werent blown away by the experience, but it's a decent option for a quick lunch in the area.

To be honest, I read the negative reviews and LOVED the owners responses, that’s the main reason why I decided to give this place a try! LOL No wait, Easy, Quick, Great customer service. Chill vibe, and the food was fresh and tasty, would definitely recommend!

Ordered the meat plate via UberEats. The gyro wasn’t anything special, but it was fresh and tender. The tzatziki sauce was quite good though. Very authentic. I’ve had vegetarian shawarma at other places, but this was my first time having it with chicken. It was chicken, but the shawarma seasoning was spot on. I still prefer the vegetarian version but this was good. Especially with the incredible garlic sauce! And don’t sleep on the pita, it’s great! The strawberry lassi was wonderful too. Overall, if you want delicious Mediterranean food that won’t break you’re wallet, order from here. If the delivery is this good, I imagine the dine in is even more exceptional!

Not bad but way overpriced for what it is and doesn’t even have a washroom! Shawarma should be wrapped in a way that makes it easy to eat without unwrapping the full sandwich. Falafel appetizer comes with tahini but a peace of pita would be nice with it.

My go-to take out spot & I love that it stays open pretty late for Tucson. Once the cook made me a gluten-free Tabbouleh, (w/o bulgur) fresh right in the kitchen because he could tell how bad I wanted it! Delish, fresh not greasy, and also friendly service.

So far, I've only gotten delivery from here but it has Always been on point. The food is delicious, fresh and it always gets to my door still warm. A lot of restaurants slack off a little when it comes to delivery orders and I often get orders that are incorrect but not from Urban Pita. They have always gotten everything exactly right. Would definitely recommend!

I’m not gonna lie it tastes good! But!!! The prices are not reasonable, outrageous and tooo much!! Also, there was a piece of hair in the Hummus.

Overall nice environment. Staff was very nice, food was a bit pricy for what it was. The food overall was good but nothing spectacular. It was worth trying.

Fresh, delicious and authentic, with just the right portion sizes. My sisters are in Tucson from out of state and they don't have Mediterranean food where they live. We all liked it very much! Thank you for a delectable meal! And friends, don't forget to order the baklava!

  • 5/5 Ines Z. 2 years ago on Google
The man working there today (01/24) is extremely nice and really great at cooking. The food itself is perfect, the baklava is amazing, and the environment is peaceful

Editing this review but keeping the original review below. It is fantastic to have the option for this type of food in a very burger-oriented area. I actually would have rated the service 5 stars. I've never had an order late, and the orders have always been accurate. Everyone in the restaurant is hard working. I would rate the portion size 5+ stars. I would rate the pita 5 stars. The chicken shawarma and hummus I would give 4 stars. 5 stars for including the salad with the platters. I wish there were more options for adding stuff to the plates. Some things can be ordered as 'sides', but that would add up pretty quickly, and would leave me with a ton of pita bread. It would be nice to be able to add some tzatzaki, kalamata olives, feta, onions, tomatoes to a platter, without having to order sides of it all. Wish turkish salad was an option, and pickled onions, and red pepper hummus, and pita chips... For me, 0 stars for the Mediterranean fries. Some things just shouldn't be put together. The daughter likes the dolmades and falafel. Haven't tried the sandwiches or salads, but probably will in the future. Original review: I've gotten food from here several times. Always enjoyed it. The response to iKhalifaPro review by the business was unprofessional and uncalled for. Admit things didn't go quite right, apologize, and move on. Don't ridicule the customer.' And yeah, if you comment that I didn't leave an earlier positive review (as you did to another negative review), it's because you really need to be special to spark a five star review from me. I would have given you four stars, but for the rude, unprofessional responses to other negative reviews. Sometimes things don't go right - admit it, be professional, and move on.

An interesting and quirky little restaurant with friendly staff and some very tasty food. They seem to use take out plant-based trays of some sort to serve the food in or out and the food was. I had the steak shawarma plate with Greek salad, and humus. My wife had the chicken gyro and fries (homemade). My son had the meat pockets and loved them...very tasty! We will be back for more!

I don’t know where everyone else that reviewed this restaurant ate, but we found it to be a far cry from “the best med food” in Tucson or anywhere. Ordered for takeout and when we got home we were surprised to find our average of $13 each plates were stuffed with gyro and chicken meat so dry it was nearly jerky. The tzatziki sauce was closer to lard than yogurt. Totally different from the countless recipes I’ve eaten before. The only redeeming quality about our meals was the delicious hummus and huge serving of pita bread. Would not go back. Would be more apt to try the other Greek/med places in Tucson.

No pictures sorry, but overall impressed with the quality and taste of the food. I ordered the babaganoush and my husband a chicken schwarma sandwich. The babaganoush was excellent and not bitter. The pita was warm, thick, and tasty as well. Will definitely be coming back to try more.

Tasted phenomenal, but the portion was quite small compared to Opa's Grill up the street. I would rather take a walk up and get more value for my money.

This is got to be the best pita I've ever had, if you have not had one you really want to get one. They are the bomb. Thank you for a great experience I'm definitely going to recommend you guy's. And the staff are very friendly men, very pleasant.

Wonderful food. Very fast, perfect for a quick bite before a show downtown. Late hours, easy access from parking garage, friendly staff. My only complaint is there's no restroom due to location.

Great chance to get a shawarma and gyro together. Reasonably priced just be aware driving in no real parking spots for a .25 mile , and its right downtown. But overall fantastic food, plus the dolmas are fire!

Travelers! When we get bored of American cheese and bacon and burgers, cleanse the pallet at this Mediterranean delight. I had the meat plate which was generous in every way, including real fresh hommus! I even got the chocolate hommus with cinnamon pita. I wonderful oasis with staff that were eager to please. 🏅

The food is always amazing and fast. The prices are good and the quality of food is always consistent. Every time I go to a concert at the Rialto, we stop here afterward, and even if it's busy, they always have it under control. Definitely try this place if you love Mediterranean food. ❤️

I've been trying Mediterranean places in the area searching for one that compares the the amazing places back home and every single place has fell short drastically. After eyeing this place for awhile I finally tried it today and I'm so happy i FINALLY found a good shawarma in AZ! The service was beyond amazing as well! I will 1000% be back! I want to try more off the menu! Thank you guys for bringing some authentic middle eastern food to AZ!

I LOVE this restaurant! I tried the Chicken Shawarma sandwich, Steak Shawarma plate, and Felafel, and Hummus. All were absolutely amazing and fresh. The service was great too. They are so nice, and seem to really care about getting your order correct. It’s hard to find great middle eastern food that tastes authentic, but it’s all here. I can’t wait to come back and try other menu items. I will absolutely Recommend and return. Thank you for the YUMMY lunch!!

Beef & Lamb Gyro was delicious! The veggie combo, especially the falafel, was great. Everything was so tasty. Freddy was super friendly. Great conversation while we enjoyed our lunch. We will definitely return when we’re in town.

If I could rate zero stars I would. I just ordered from them and the gyro was absolutely terrible the onions on it tast like fish. Everything was dry, the meat had absolutely no flavor. I will never go back. Don't waste your time with this place.

Delicious food. Prices are a terrible ripoff. I want to love this place but $15 for a plate sampler and then only 4 pieces of pita. How much does pita cost?

You can flag this post if you want. I was waiting for an uber outside and my friend pucked. We were standing right across the door of urban pita. I was going to get food and some papertowels for my friend but i choose to ask for paper towels first. To which they asked me to go to hifi and get paper towels from there, i felt that was rude and as a human u could have given me 2 paper towels. 1. I would have bought food as well ( which i was going to anyways) 2. I would remember u as helpful human beings 3. It felt that they envy hifi 4. I went in to hifi, had to leave my friend on the streets, and got paper towels from there I dont know how good ur food is, but surely u could have helped me and it would have cost u almost a penny to none. Thats my takeaway from urban pita.

Tasty food. Quick service with a smile. Fresh hummus and warm pitas bread hot the spot. Open late at night. After bar munchies. Only sore spot was dirty dining tables . They seem clean, but they were sticky.? thanks for being open. Food was fresh and tasty. I had falafel and steak Sharma. Sorry you are not open for dine in. I'll come back when you do.

I ate from there while I was on layover with Amtrak. It is about 2-3 minutes walking distance from the station. The Meat Combo was Awesome! I have Crohn's Disease and finding good food that won't make me hurt or cry is Absolutely The Best. Mediterranean food has proven to be an ally of my condition and keeps me coming back. I am from The Bury in NC and I get Excited when I have to travel west because I know I can get a GR8 plate of Shawarma and feel good after eating. The Gentlemen that work there are very nice and inviting. This may be a small business, but the food they take the time to cook and serve is Big on taste and Full of my personal Appreciation. The chicken was tender and well seasoned, the gyro meat was especially good and didn't look like the fake gyro meat that I have seen at some places which is a deal breaker. I had never had Basmati rice before Urban Pita and now I buy it to cook and eat regularly. I Sincerely Appreciate the food and service. I will Definitely be coming back to eat here again. Thank you so much and GOD Bless you All!

Comparing it to other pita joints in town. I like that they have a variety of options with their plates and appetizers. However, I feel at other places such as Pita Jungle or Fronimos you get more bang for your buck. The portions are a little small and it's $2.75 for a can of soda you'd get from a vending machine. A positive is their dolmades. A lot of places are so/so. These are really good. Overall not bad.

Went in because I had heard this place was great. Asked where a bathroom was since my friend and I had been walking around downtown for a while and wanted to know before we ate. Person at the counter wouldn't tell us where the off site bathroom was and said “well are you gonna order anything and walked away.” Can’t comment on the food but won’t try and go back.

Went here on march 1st and there were around 6 people waiting for their food. They already had some meat on the grill for gyros. Not a big deal I've seen many places do this when they are busy. $10 for a gryo! haha ok whatever. The problem is the meat had been on the grill so long it was completely dry and hard. This was the absolute worst gyro I've had in my life. Would give negative stars if possible. It doesn't take much intelligence to tell when something should be thrown out. Either the workers were too lazy or too cheap to do the right thing. I threw it in the trash where it belonged after two bites and then inspecting the rest of the meat.

This place is amazing. I love getting the Steak Shawarma Plate, with an extra Pita Bread. The reason for the extra pita is they just give you so much steak that one pita, which is what comes with the plate, just isn't enough. The steak is perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The issue I have with some places is you would get the occasional fatty piece, not the case here. Both times I had the Steak Plate, there wasn't a single all fat piece. There eating room definitely has an urban feel so the name is great too. You will not regret eating here.

Ordered online for delivery through their website at 11:35 on a night they closed at midnight. My fiancee felt bad about ordering so late so he called to ask if they minded. Whoever answered the phone was extremely kind to us and said they got the order and a delivery driver would be there to pick it up soon. By the time the food got to us it was still as incredible as when you go in to the shop. Thank you guys, worth the price.

I had a fabulous meal at this space - 4 of the meat pockets and a drink for $10. Intimate atmosphere, convenient location, friendly staff, and fast service. I am planning to go back to try more dishes. This place did strike me as both a good lunch and dinner place, and while I had lunch this time, I'm keen to go back to try dinner here soon! Definitely check it out if you're downtown.

  • 5/5 Ross F. 4 years ago on Google
I've been a customer here for 3 years. Its consistently great. Very flavorful, good portions, the presentation is great. You cant go wrong here. It's not convenient to get to. I usually park in the adjacent parking garage for $1. It you're too cheap for that, you'll have to park 3 blocks away and walk back. You also have to ask for the key to use the bathroom, which is located in a common area of the building. I cant knock the business for this because those are common characteristics of a downtown business. The food is great, the atmosphere is great, the service is fast and the price is reasonable.
