We took the trolley up and enjoyed the scenery and the information in the tour. We especially appreciated the strictly enforced mask wearing as we have frail family members at home to protect. Half our group hiked the ridge back down and the rest of us rode back one stop then walked the rest of the way. We had a wheelchair with us and the road was manageable for able bodied people to push it. There were some pretty good uphill sections so we got a great workout. The scenery was so beautiful! We stopped at most of the creek crossings and our chair user was able to get out and walk around a bit. We were a as all SO happy to find somewhere to safely be outside together.

Did a very quick afternoon visit to the dam area to check out the water flow from the monsoons. The trail is pretty easy and a wonderful place to wander around for beautiful desert vistas (still quite hot though so be prepared!!). Thrilled with how green the desert looks after all the rain. The views of the mountains were stunning in the afternoon light and some of the cacti are flowering. The pops of color are always such a treat!

Sabino Canyon is a hikers paradise offering trails at every level. For the less athletic, a bus service is a great alternative that hikers can jump on and off during the one hour tour of the canyon. The canyon bus is windowless (weather permitting) and allows for amazing views of this incredible natural scenery. This is definitely a β€œdon’t miss” visit just an hour from Central Tucson. Do it!

Shuttle tour type of place with all levels of hiking. Driver was great 1 hour round trip. Not quite the specialty park like Bryce or Arches, but a lot of good views with narration and interesting info.

Always a lovely place to take a morning or evening walk. Lots of nature. Photo opportunities of the flora & fauna are abounding. Take the tram and get off at various points to explore. Nice place to learn about the desert southwest.

Major Tucson trailhead and visitors center on the northeast side of town. Many trails and access to the National Forest. There are also two paved roads to walk up making there something for everyone no matter your condition or skill level. Also has a shuttle that you can pay to ride if that suits you.

Nice area for a short or long hike..you choose. There is a parking fee or the National Park pass will get you in for free. There is a shuttle that charges a fee per person that goes throughout the park.

One of the coolest things we did in Tucson! When we arrived parking was easy and cost $8 for the day which can be done at a self serve kiosk. We then did a short hike and decided to take the tram up the canyon because we have little kids, and I’m so happy we did. It’s 1 hour round trip and you can hop on or off at any stop if you want. $15 per person and kids under 3 are free. I feel like we really got to see the landscape and all the cactus looming over the sides of cliffs was spectacular. I highly recommend this ride and park!

pretty place to hike in Northeast Tucson. Lots of trails, days worth of hiking. Family and pet friendly, and sometimes there is even water. Somewhere in the park is an incredible crested Saguaro. I havent found it yet, but I will. Only hiked the place once.

Whether you are visiting or living in Tucson area , Sabino Canyon is a Must go to. A very lovely place for hiking, going for a short walk or cycling. The scenery will make you speechless. It's paved so it's Handicap accessible. You can buy the bus ticket and take a tour or use the bus if you are tired of walking from any of the bus stops along the hike. There are several rest areas . One of my top favorites to go , definitely worth the drive

Apparently, this trail is a success story of a failed government project. This would explain a double lane paved portion of the trail going to the canyon. I suggest you arrive early, like really early. Even in the off season the parking lot gets filled up fast. Another suggestion - take a side trail that runs alongside the paved portion. You will be rewarded with a quiet and more intimate experience with nature, observing deer, rabbits, roadrunners, quail and many other animals that otherwise stay unnoticed. Also check out the weather patterns to know what to expect for the time of the year you are going to be visiting.

Sabino Canyon is a must stop! We took the tram up to the top. They don't stop on the way up. They stop at the last stop, and you have about 5 minutes to take pictures. You can get back on the tram or walk down. You can get on the tram at any stop on the way down if they have room. They have multiple restrooms, and you can fill your water, but not at many stops, so plan accordingly! We walked back, which was over 3 miles. Stop 8 was our favorite. There's lots of flat rocks and water to dip your feet in. It is a perfect place to rest and have a snack. The views are so beautiful. We also stopped at the information desk before we left, and they were very helpful with information about Mt Lemmon. Steve helped us and gave the best advice. Highly recommend!

Just WOW!! What an incredible experience ... such a beautiful place!! Took the tram ride into the canyon @ $15/person, then walked back (less than 3 miles back). Seats on the OUTSIDE of tram provides the best visual. Great water flowing down from canyon and over a few of the bridges. So beautiful!! Can't wait to go again next year!! Beautiful desert flowers in the spring!!

Definitely a place to go! The hiking is mostly easy or moderate. I took the Rattlesnake and Esperero trails and used the main road a multiple times. The trails are well marked, clear and the views are beautiful. It was quite busy on a Saturday morning.

Took the Sabino Canyon tour. Tickets are $12 for a ride up the canyon with 9 stops at hikes and views along the way. Masks are required for the bus ride. Gorgeous views! Tons of hikes. A National Parks pass gets you in to the parking lot, otherwise there is a fee for that too.

We love Sabino canyon! Visit every time we are in town. There are dozens of trails in the area and it changes all the time. You have an option to buy a tram ticket to take you up canyon and walk back, walk the road or take a trail. This visit the amount of water in the stream was very high, over some of the bridges. That was a novel experience.

A beautiful place in the desert for exploring. The trails are clearly marked and plentiful. I highly recommend going early since it's going to get hot and you can avoid the crowds. Not a good place for dogs, but there is a lot of wildlife to watch!

Absolutely beautiful park. It was crowded due to New Years Day visitors. However, there are enough trails and space for everyone to e joy their little slice of heaven. My partner and I enjoyed every moment of our 1.75-mile hike in the canyons. The experience was unforgettable, and we would definitely come back here to explore the other trails and walk further up the mountain next trip to Tucson. Parts of the hike were steep, and several areas were not well marked, but my partner is a good navigator, so we were able to find our way around. The wash was beautiful, and there were children playing in the water, which was a lovely sound.

You can see some deer or other wildlife early morning or evenings. However it gets crowded on weekends quickly.

If you take the electric tram up hill on late summer, there are several stops where you can get off and take a safe bath . Make sure to carry enough water. The tram runs every 1 hour. A perfect picnic. If you are hiking, it’s best you wait until late fall, because it could be very dehydrating.

This place really beautiful and definitely worth the trip. We didn’t take the trolly just walked the whole time, as there were different paths to sure from and you can choose which way you want to go. We went to see the dam and spent around 2-3 hrs hiking total. I would come back here again in the future.

Take the team ride if you aren't able to walk. This 45 minute ride was great with an audio program. You can ride the tram up and then walk back or ride it back. The canyon views were wonderful. Come early to avoid the heat. There are plenty of restrooms along the way. The plants and wildlife abound including lots of butterflies, birds not to mention the usual desert mountain wildlife.

Busy Sunday here at Sabino Canyon Recreation Area. Costs $8 to park for the day. We just went for a good walk on the trail for a couple miles but that couple miles was very pretty. Lots of different shaped cactuses. Everyone was super friendly, weather was great. Would like to come back out here and do some more exploring.

Absolutely come early. Be prepared to walk/hike. Buy your tram tickets on line a few days in advance. Have sunscreen, hat and water. I recommend small towel and flip flops for some feets in water time. Panning for garnets is fun. Lovely day.

We were being spontaneous when we headed for Sabino Canyon, and so we didn't know about the requirement of buying shuttle tickets ahead, but we enjoyed a hike that one of the rangers directed us to take that was right from the visitor's center parking lot. We saw a beautiful rock dam waterfall and lots of desert terrain. We hope to go back when we can actually go into the canyon.

This was my first time visiting Sabino. We took the electric tram to the top ($12 per person) and then walked down. Walking down allowed us to get off the main road and explore a little. Of course there are many trails that can be explored; each one having its own level of difficulty and various picnic spots with picnic tables to enjoy an afternoon picnic. Even the novice hiker can experience the beauty of the canyon off the beaten path. No matter if you ride up and down, hike , bike, walk, or jog, Sabino canyon is fantastic place to explore.

Very helpful staff, amazing views. Tons of different options for different visitors - you can take the shuttle, go for a short hike, or opt for a longer hike. Make sure to bring plenty of water. My only issue was restrooms - many of the restrooms indicated on the map were closed. The porta potties were kept very clean, though!

Trail#27 Telephone Line. We started hiking at 0700 on March 12, 2023. The weather was perfect and the trail was not busy. Flowers are just starting to bloom and the view was beautiful. We walked back on the pavement and crossed about 9-10 over flowing bridges. Total distance was about 10 miles.

I would recommend arriving early since it seems to attract tons of visitors year-round. Sabino Canyon is beautiful and great for many reasons, one of them being the variety of trails and sights including but not limited to waterfalls, dams, cacti, paved roads or rugged paths. I would come here all the time while living in Tucson and love revisiting when I can.

Some trails are challenging to finish, but as long as you have water and good company a lot of good memories can be made. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Now i bring mine along for the adventures, and to pass on the torch.

I just love this place. I never have been here on summer time but we had visitors and we need it to go somewhere so we decided to go to Sabino and take the shuttle. When we got there we saw that they had a high water tour. When we read about it we realized that the shuttle only goes to the stop number 2 so we decided to walk instead. When we arrived to the first bridge (just after stop number 2) we understood why the high water tour. You can see it on the pictures. I've never seen so much water in Sabino. It was beautiful. I'm so happy we had visitors other wise I would have never go to Sabino in August.

Awesome hike if you're in Tucson. First timers it's a bit tricky if decide to take the trail instead of the street to get to 7 falls. Other than that it's a great hike and fun to see the water run through. You do have to pay for parking you can't park outside of the lot or you will get a ticket. Other than that it's a great place for family and friends who want a good workout in.

This is a fabulous all-access outdoor area. They have paved trails for this with special mobility needs. They do have large bathroom stalls for wheelchairs, I did not see a changing table. There are very helpful and friendly staff!! There are many staff available on the various paths who can help guide you as well as great sign markings! There are water fountains available at many locations to refill. There are many beautiful locations, many easily accessible. We saw some wildlife such as birds, lizards, and small animals like rabbits.

Sabino Canyon is the gem of Tucson! There are so many nice hiking trails to choose from of different lengths and levels of difficulty. It is refreshing to see flowing water at the creek and dam. The staff is very nice and informative about the hikes and trail conditions. I would definitely like to come back for the beautiful scenery!

This is one of the Tucson "must do's" if you are visiting or if you are a resident. The season pass is very affordable and you can access the Canyon almost anytime you want. Great views, great selection of trails, a wealth of information, and the staff and volunteers are fantastic. Just GO!!!

This is a must stop for anyone visiting Tucson. A stunningly beautiful national outdoor treasure and they even have an open shuttle to take you up to the top of the trail.

Had a great experience with the family...nice facilities at the foot for visitor center...tram to the top is a more noisy but I liked the narrated story on the way. The walk down was beautiful with nice rest stops along the way with clean (though primitive) restrooms, water and shaded shelter. Beautiful scenery.

This is one of my favorite places because it's a quick and easy way to get out in nature. However, on my last trip, the tram broke down and all the passengers had to walk until we got to a stop for an emergency tram to pick us up. The walk was no big deal for me, but the emergency tram was a crowded, tiny bus and offered no view of the mountains on the way out. I felt like we should have been offered a refund or free ride or something. Also, I always enjoy leaving flowers at the End of Watch memorial for my great great uncle. I am disappointed that they removed his story from the tour guide's script.

Great place for hiking and trail running. One of the most beautiful places in Tucson. I'm lucky to live so close to the area. If you're local, a national park pass is essential to go as much as you want.

Paved trail great for beginners,& a tram with tour guide(tram closed due to covid 19). Off of the paved road there are many dirt trails that branch off, if you want something more challenging. No dogs,no bikes, fyi.

What a beautiful park! Truly enjoyed our visit here. We took the Espero Trail to Rattlesnake, and down Bluff. Definitely worth the hike! Definitely take lots of water. The tram was an enjoyable and educational ride, it was a nice ride after our long hike, we got to learn so much about the park and it's wonderful history.

We went on a pretty hot July day but the new electric trams have shade roof and the breeze blew in so we were fine. First photo is the "Snoopy Rock Formation". The past is the Rock Man ( that's what I call him).

Beautiful place. Canyon walls high above, creeks running thru. Lots of hiking trails. Took a tram ride, you could get on and off anywhere. There are places to swim or wade. Rangers were very cfriendly and helpful. I can see myself going

Sabino Canyon is awesome for locals and β€œtourists” (visitors) alike. Start at the base camp, pay a daily entry fee (or buy an annual pass of you are local) and either walk or talk the tram. The tram is $12/pp so walk unless you can’t. The hike can be long to the top but you can turn around anytime as the path is paved or you can go β€œoff piste” (off the main paved trail) and have some fun exploring the many side trails. See the dam that is a short 1-2 mile hike or go to the top (7 falls) if your fit. This is a Tucson β€œmust do”, so just do it! VictorB

Difficult times, not many places you can walk out and explore but somehow we have told by a local person this is a very nice place in the heart of the mountains. It was a little long walk but not too bad and if you ever visit Tucson, AZ I'll definitely recommend the Sabino Canyon. We had a lot of fun. Back to nature!!

Only thing I don't like about it is the walk it's really long and hot but once u get there it's almost worth it. I have not been to 7 falls yet because I don't want to walk that far.
