St. Mildred's Bay Beach

Tourist attraction

👍👍 Always lovely. A traditional style beach with beautiful sand, rock pools and a tidal pool. A pay and display car park and clean public toilets. Don't come here expecting a fun fair or arcades... This is purely a bucket and spade style beach. People often mention beach, clean, area,

We love it here as a family. Safe, shallow, clean beach so brilliant for the children. Cafe and now a restaurant overlooking the beach so can get essentials cup of tea, Ice creams, beer etc lunch too if we don't take it own. Cafe reasonably priced and very friendly staff

Nice promenade (essentially the Viking Coastal Trail). Reasonable beach albeit prone to moss accumulation and a bit rocky in places. Lifeguards present today. Rotting algae can be a bit whiffy so choose your spot carefully. Tidal beach so lots of rock pools to explore once the tide goes out. Large, enclosed paddling pool for little people to the western side of the bay. A few restaurants and cafes along the promenade for refreshments. Toilets nearby and also further along the promenade. The promenade is, like all promenades in Kent, a shared space but it's nice and wide. The areas where cycling is allowed and isn't allowed are clearly signposted but some people just blissfully ignore them and carry on until they nearly run over someone not expecting a cyclist at speed! Do check the state of the water on the surfers against sewage interactive map before entering. The beach today was sadly littered in places with hundreds of wet wipes.

Love it, not as busy as other local beaches, great place to get ice cream and public toilets nearby.

I visited here in October 2022. It is easy to reach this area by train from London and it is a nice area to explore on the Viking Trail. It is quieter than the nearby Margate and Herne Bay.

One of many bays around the corner from margate, with 2 restaurants/bars. To choose from. Sit back watch the world go by

Unfortunately, the beach was almost completely covered with seaweed. To be fair, most of Thanet's beaches are the same this summer (2023), with only a few partially cleared by the council. The dogs enjoyed themselves, but they are only allowed on there after 6pm, or before 10am.

Great place to stop. Free parking on adjacent road. Lovely grassed area to walk/picnic/loads of benches.

Beautiful clean sandy beach. Parking in the back streets can be a bit tricky, but it's well worth the walk. Theres also a nice café there for quick snacks or a full-on meal. One of my favourite beaches in the area.

Walked along the sea wall from Westbay, it's a lovely area which I've spent many years going to,the beach is clean & very popular, there are 2 places to drink & or to eat,the one think I will say is the public toilets are closed in the early evening, sign of the times I would guess, other than that I enjoyed the walk.

My friend and I went for a lovely walk on the beach. The sun was warm and there wasn't a lot of people about. We stopped off here for a cuppa. Then decided to have a bacon butty. The service was quick and the waiter Harrison was pleasant, efficient and apologetic about us having to 'pay as we go' because we were sitting on the path rather than the upper level. This stops customers just walking off without paying. Thank you it was a lovely experience.

Visited on a dullish day, so not too busy. Beach area lovely as always, clean and clear of rubbish. The huts on the promenade are great addition as they are lively, fun and painted making an interesting vista.

Not very busy, car park was quiet (we paid via Ringo app because the coin slot was jammed) £4.20 for 4 hours. Weather was overcast mostly with sunny spells, my girls were in the sea for an hour, shallow and warm they had a great time. Found some crabs and shrimps in the rock pools too. Great fun afternoon. There's also public toilets and a couple of cafes on the beach front (we didn't need to use them so can't comment)
