Horrendous. I would warn anyone against this place, particularly female travellers. It is outright dangerous and I would be surprised if a serious crime doesn't take place here due to the horrific negligence of the owner. When I arrived, the taxi driver's first words were 'there's a naked man out front, are you sure you're going to be safe here?' No staff at all in the building over the weekend and people openly smoking weed by the propped fire door, which was wide open the whole time I was there. All the room doors were left unlocked with keys sitting inside -- literally anyone could have come in, for theft or to ambush a vulnerable visitor. Someone threw something at my window within an hour of arriving. Naturally, I immediately tried to leave only to find that the owner was uncontactable all the next day (still no staff on the premises). Neither the hotel chain nor the booking website could get hold of him. He then refused point blank to refund me despite admitting he had seen the whole thing on CCTV, telling me it was a 'workmen's hotel' and it was my fault for booking in when I'd seen the reviews. He finally turned up the day after only to round on me in a stand-up row in the car park with two burly male employees, calling me a man-hater and every other name under the sun and asserting that the whole thing was fine because it wasn't him dealing drugs, so none of it was his responsibility. Also, the naked guy wasn't a threat because he was 'wearing shoes' and I was paranoid. In passing, he let slip there were 12 male guests and only 1 female (me) -- then ranted at me about how there aren't ratios and 'he has a 17-year-old daughter', as well as making unspecified threats about what would happen to me if I used my recording of the conversation. I ended up walking in the dark for 2 hours down the A40 to get away from that place. As a side note, the rooms were microscopic, not particularly clean and there was only one female toilet in the entire set of buildings (filthy). I had to put my laptop on the windowsill and my suitcase on the bed because there was no floor space for it. Please think again before going here. It's cheap, but if you can possibly afford somewhere else, I hope you will. You can get past a tiny room, but the real problem is flimsy locks, no security and a completely indifferent owner. If you get in trouble here, it is way out in the middle of nowhere and you could easily end up in serious danger with no one to go to for help. I would warn any woman in particular against this place.

Do not book, stay away. Man this place is rough. Came there, no owner, was told my room was 22, coming inside and it's awful, filthy, bed was left ontouched after previous person, rubbish all over the place. This motel feels completely unsafe. Do not stay here

I got into this accommodation after a stressful busy day and failing to get into any of my regular hotel stop overs. I paid the price and it had a car park which was great because i was towing a trailer, but on arrival I was told I'd need to pay an extra £20 for parking which I strongly disagreed with due to renting a room. ( the owner eventaully) dropped the parking charge to £15 ) Then while I was checking in the staff complained that I'd booked a double room when I was travelling alone, not entirely sure what the problem was. I did offer to take a single room but i was informed they'd no single rooms left. not sure why this mattered seeing as I'd paid for the room. Shared bathroom area wasn't the cleanest of areas. In the morning when I went to used the bathroom before leaving, somebody had used the toilet without lifting the seat. Urine left all around the toilet seat. I know that's not the owners fault but down to lazy guests. Unfortunately I won't be recommending or staying here again. Shame because the location was perfect and at reasonable price.

The rooms are small but very clean and tidy. We shared a bathroom but didn't see anyone else on our floor. Great for the price. Good location for us.

Chris’s Motel matches the price you are paying for. If you are looking for something nice, you should look somewhere else instead of booking it and complaining that there are some dust here and there. The place offers a reasonably clean bathroom, a reasonably comfortable bed, and a responsive host. Overall, it’s decent value wrt the price.

Excellent place for workers like myself who spend a lot of time on the road, staying out a few nights a week. Just off the M40. Large carpark which is lit up at night. Very easy late check in system. Quick call any you are guided to your room and location of the keys. The rooms are very well equipped with a large screen television, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. I actually liked it so much I stayed there 2 nights even though it wasn't exactly on my route on day 2 on road. Onsite cafe which served a fantastic breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. The prices of the rooms are less than £40 a night which is amazing if like me you got an overnight budget limit. There's parking for trucks too and a few had parked up on both nights I stayed. Loads of hot water and decent shower facilities on site. You can even have your car valeting while your there at the onsite carwash. Great place . We need more like it around the country. Will definitely use this place when working in that area again.

Disgusting room, like a small prison cell, bed was small, the mattress was a joke, when you laid down you rolled off it. The showers are in with the toilets so people can walk in when your in the shower. It was noisy, people shouting and setting the fire alarm off. A complete nightmare.

It's a cheap little motel in what feels like the middle of nowhere though there are a lot of cars passing by. Clean, comfy, nu fuss. If you wanna just explore the area for 1-2 days and just need a bed I definitely recommend this place. I went here as a female solo traveller over the weekend and have had no issues. To be fair I didn't hang out a lot around the motel as I wanted to enjoy the nature trails. Unless you have the misfortune of bumping into some psycho I'm sure you'll be ok. Some drivers can be a bit unkempt but that doesn't mean they're dangerous in any way. I wish OYO would have mentioned that there would be no staff over the weekend but luckily the owner has their number in the window and is prompt to answer his phone.

Lovely staff, clean rooms. Shared toilets can really do with a good clean down. The same mess has now been in the same cubicles each time I have been.

I got there after the cafe had closed so didn't see any staff, but the room was clean and toilet and shower were decent.

Thought I'd go out for breakfast. Place has gone downhill, the old staff seem to have all gone, the staff seem out of touch. The prices are extortionate for what you actually get and seem to be going higher and higher. Take me back 2 years ago! Place was packed out and the staff knew how to run the place! Shame really. Better elsewhere

I tried the cafe here Not often I can safely say my first visit will also be my last I don't think in the whole of the UK(trucker), that I actually know anywhere else where you can wait the longest, for the worst breakfast Utter rubbish

Ate at the cafe the food was good only thing is the breakfast menu could be a bit more detailed so you know exactly what and how many of each items you get in the breakfasts. Had a look round the motel rooms looked basic but everything you need for a overnight stay toilets and showers were clean. Also provides over night lorry parking

This wasn't the greatest experience for me but I suppose you get what you pay for. The walls are too thin - as soon as I got to sleep someone banged a door and then someone started having a loud conversation on the phone outside my window at 12.30am so it was difficult to get back to sleep. The beds aren't very comfortable so, all in all, I had a bad night's sleep. The toilets weren't the cleanest either and could do with a lick of paint.

Very small rooms, cold and uncomfortable beds however you get what you pay for I suppose. The breakfasts on the other head are unbelievable 😍😍

Very basic. Breakfast not served till 8am. Beware paying in advance - spent a total of £3300 at this hotel, when I had to cancel a booking, despite promising a refund it never came - still chasing!!!!

We only ate at the café, as we have on several occasions; but the service was lovely, warm and welcoming as were the staff and customers. Good value food and lovely atmosphere

Good place to get your head down and get some rest. Very basic and rooms tiny but clean enough. Can't comment on washrooms as didn't use them as there are showers at work. Woman on the cafe is lovely and very helpful gave me a number to book direct for future stays.

Room was tiny, like a corridor. Dirty and shabby but at least Bed was clean and comfy. TV remote did not work. Bathroom floor filthy. Walls very thin so very noisy. Stunk of chip fat. Not worth spending a lot. I got introductory offer of £20 but it was not worth any more. OK for contractors wanting a place to sleep but no recommended for holidaymakers.

Sat there for nearly an hour waiting for two breakfast rolls, even after asking what was going..! They obviously forgot my order.. No apology, nothing... Got the impression they are only interested in their regulars..

Abserlute dirty place gutted I had to pay before I seen the place had to buy fabreeze for my room as it smelled of a wierd foist the walls were filthy and the room was tiny but atleast the bedding was clean would not recommend this place to any one way over priced for what you get I think a tramp would rather sleep on the streets very disappointing the food was good from the cafe tho but me personally will never go back to that place again go at your own peril.

The motel was dirty and the shared bathroom was so disgusting I had to wash at work. The twin room was so small I couldn't get my bag in there and the beds were so uncomfortable i now have siatic nerve problem in my back. Absolute shambles of a place and very noisy. Someone even walked in my room one night and said they had the wrong room when their room was opposite! Not worth the money, no reception key left under a mat for you. Not recommended, won't be staying there again.

  • 1/5 Wayne V. 2 years ago on Google
Room was far too small. Radiator made noises all night. Window was kept shut by wooden forks. Bathroom was in a poor poor state and needs redoing. I wanted to have a shower but no way.... Maybe it should only be for truckers and I should not have stayed here.
