Very impressed with the wildlife park. Well set out and plenty of information about each animal to read and digest. The keeper talks are well worth listening to. One every half hour to keep you on your toes to find the next one! The cafe serves hot & cold snacks and drinks. The shop is worth looking around as you exit for souvenirs. All in all a perfect day for all animal lovers of all ages.

Wonderful place to visit, either for a photography day (my visit) or just as a visitor. By the way, check opening times as they aren't always open to the public during school term time. As the name implies, British wildlife is the theme here, foxes, badgers, red squirrels as well as lots of other native species plus a collection of Scottish Wildcats with (currently) some exceptionally cute kittens. All of the species on display are clearly extremely well cared for and definitely loved; no concerns about welfare here ... Can't recommend a trip highly enough

Great place to visit....Getting up close to the red squirrels is amazing and worth the entry alone. You also get to see many species you just won't see easily in the wild, Pine Martins for example. Staff talks every 30 mins bring the animals out and informative. Good facilities on site, food/coffee easonably priced.

This is such a great day out. Beautiful wildlife and beautiful grounds. This was the third time of visiting and most definitely won't be the last. Thank you to the great team of staff who work hard to ensure visitors are educated about conservation of endangered wildlife in the UK.

Had no real expectations and wow, what a lovely surprise. Saw probably about 90% of its inhabitants on two circuits and it's deffo worth giving the day as you'll probably see stuff you didn't on the first pass. How is this place not massively well known (perhaps it is and we've just been blissfully unaware), really great day out and super knowledgeable staff.

Great place for family with children, but also for anyone interested in British wildlife! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend that you arrive early enough to see the red squirrel 🐿 which are active only in the morning. Try to attend all the talks about the animals, every 30 minutes starting from 10:30am, because they are very informative and entertaining! On a hot day, the animals might hide in the shade and most of them tend to sleep at midday, but they will come out again in the afternoon. The last show at 4pm is the Owl display and that’s something worth staying to watch. Some of my favourites are the owls, foxes, squirrels, dears, and stoats. Book the tickets online in advance so you can get a discount too.

Very educational trip for adults and children. If you want to see the many native animal you must join the talks by the keepers. The animals know the keepers and the timetable and will turn up for the treats on offer. Nice restaurant/cafe and very clean toilets. Umbrellas provided for wet days. Big car park and good disabled access.

All the staff are so knowledgeable and kind. The real highlight is the owl display, they fly so close to you and it is easy to hear during the demonstration. Come early to grab a seat during busier periods. We took a picnic to the park and found there was plenty of seating to enjoy. Patience is needed to spot some of the smaller creatures, but it is lovely to visit somewhere dedicated to the marvellous creatures we have here in Britain.

My partner and I discovered this place after driving past and what a find! It’s a hidden gem! One of the best animal sanctuaries we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. We noticed how large the animal enclosures were, and how well maintained they are, and the animals look so healthy! The staff are excellent, very educational for the talks and the catering staff are fab! we shall certainly be visiting again soon.

Fabulous place. Very impressed with the enclosures which are designed with the animal in mind rather than just display (love the rat and pine marten tunnel systems, and the harvest mice in particular). Keeper talks great. Absolutely fell in love with beautiful Flo🦊. Rest areas and toilets clean and tidy, staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to revisit in summer when everyone's out of hibernation.

Lovely friendly place to visit with our children and excellent value. With the caveat you have to be patient or may see very few of the animals. It's better to follow the keeper talks (every half hour), because the animals will magically appear as it's feeding time. Also the majority become active later in the day, so worth timing your visit to still be there between 4-5pm. The only negative was there is the potential to have more amphibians on display and there were no lizards (there seemed to be some empty enclosures by the boardwalk).

We popped in here unexpectedly on our way back from another local attraction and were pleasantly surprised. This place really is a hidden gem! There's quite a few animals to see here, all of which have really nice well kept enclosures. A particular favourite of mine was the red squirrel walk where you can get up close with these beautiful creatures. They have scottish wildcats, badgers, mice, voles, stoates, frogs, snakes, owls, foxes... and so much more! There are also regular talks by the keepers on various animals throughout the day which were great and also gave opportunity to see some of the more elusive animals. I really would recommend this place if you're in the area.

The family and I had a lovely time at this wildlife centre. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the talks were really informative and interesting. Definitely worth a visit with primary aged children. It seemed to be busier in the morning than the afternoon and the animals seemed more active too.

Great place for the kids, educational and very interesting for all. Some rare and endangered animals on show that are well worth the visit and it’s all very well laid out. They do fabulous talks at scheduled times to tell you all about the animals, which include the Scottish Wildcat, owls, red squirrels and much, much more. Thanks to all the team there who make the visit really enjoyable!

We came to the British Wildlife Centre for a private tour, gifted to us as a wedding gift. What a fantastic conservation place where you can get up close with British Wildlife that you may otherwise never even get a glimpse of. First time I'd ever seen a weasel, Scottish wildcat, pine marten, adder, various owls and even a badger (even if that was only a very brief glance at a face watching us!). The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, more than happy to answer our questions about the animals, and brought out an owl and a hedgehog for us to have a closer look. Loved every minute of the 2-hour tour, which they hold on days closed to the public so it's very much just your group getting dedicated attention. There will now always be a special place in my heart for Diesel the weasel (who was much too speedy to get a photo of) and Basil the fox (who was getting rid of his winter coat so I didn't think it was dignified to take a picture of him). We would love to come back again, even on a public day!

What an amazing place. Was hoping for a good couple of hours here with the boys...stayed all day. The best enclosures I have ever seen and the staff are not only highly knowledgeable but super friendly and approachable. We will be back in the spring time

Amazing place, animals seem happy and cared for. Talks are interesting and give a chance to see animals better. Way better than any zoo. Will definitely visit again.

I have visited the British Wildlife Centre twice and overall I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Positives: 1. Instills a love and appreciation for animals. This is especially good for the children who visit. 2. The animals mostly have nests or areas where they can hide away from the public. They are not forced to be on display at all times. 3. The bears in the gift shop are nice. They had bears of every animal we saw at the centre, which was great. Negatives: 1. There is a Buzzard, and a Raven, they are kept in small cages. This is cruel as they are birds and it is in their nature to fly. 2. On both occasions when I visited, the keepers referred to various different animals within the centre as "stupid" which is a rather ignorant thing to say especially considering their jobs. You'd hope that they'd genuinely love the animals.

My child went on a school trip here and loved it! He was given a free child’s ticket to go again that we used yesterday. My partner and I had never been before and it was a great experience. Loads of toilets, baby change, a cafe, two picnic areas, a kids play area, lots of British wildlife to see and talk about, talks all through the day with experienced and knowledgable keepers who genuinely care about the animals in their care. It is purely British wildlife but then, how many people have actually seen a badger or a hedgehog? I haven’t! The owl show was particularly awesome. We didn’t see any red squirrels because they are apparently only active until about 12-midday and we didn’t arrive until then. If you buy tickets in advance (up to 9am the day of), there is a discount.

Lovely place. We saw some lovely animals. The talks were excellent and the staff were so friendly and informative, happy to spend so much time with us. Take your time and be patient, you'll see so much more. The harvest mouse was amazing. Stay for the owl display.

Wonderful place - small enough to cover it in a couple of hours and loads of native wildlife species to look at, including badgers and red squirrels which you rarely see in the wild. The talks are really interesting, especially the owl display, and the staff are very friendly. It might look like the displays are empty but a bit of patience and quiet brings the animals out.

Great place to visit. Staff are knowledgeable with the animals and there is lots to see. Coffee shop is a let down as it is very expensive and the drinks are tiny

Quite nice centre, very nice staff who seem dedicated to the welfare of the animals.🥰 When there you need to be patient & quiet to see some of the timid animals (red squirrel etc) this can be hard with small children, serge of people or the doors slamming when entering & leaving an enclosure (these doors need a soft/rubber edge around them) also the mic during the owl demo was way too loud the otters in their den seemed to get irritated by it as did I and a little girl who walked past me with her fingers in her ears.😂 the Foxes,Wildcats,Pine Martin and Owls are stunning, I would & am going back very soon.

Brilliant day spent photographing British Wildlife. I saw Red squirrels running around my feet in their own woodland, stoats, weasels, foxes, otters, owls (tawny owl out of cage, barn owls, little owls etc in cages), Roe, red and fallow deer in the fields, but my favourite was the Scottish wildcats. All staff were very informative and friendly. Would recommend the photograhy day to anyone. Most of my photos are not on my mobile...hence just the Fox.

A lovely place to visit. Plenty of information around the site so that you know what you are looking at. Great place for kids and adults alike. Talks by the keepers every half hour. Plenty of benches around to sit down on. Currently you cannot sit inside to eat but you can buy food (sandwiches, pasties crisps, hot and cold drinks) and take them outside to the picnic area. Plenty of parking.

A good day out for the family and a lovely way for kids to become familiar with British Wildlife. The talks provided by staff are insightful on animals you are aware of but rarely see so close up. The only challenge is the time of year to visit as if you go in the winter months, many animals are hibernating.

Went with 4 adults, one 7 year old and a 7 month baby, all of us had a great time. We easily spent the whole day there, which was a surprise as its smaller than originally expected. It was a good thing it was smaller as we didn't spend the whole day walking, but there was lots to see it was easy to fill the day up. Places to stop to eat your own food, but the cafe is very reasonably priced, sandwiches are very well filled. The talks were great and the animals look well looked after. Lots of people doing photography (they have classes there for wildlife photography) and would point out animals we might of missed, like at the frog pond. The frog pond was my favourite! Lots of parking available, buggy happy, changing facilities, lots of places to sit, most of ot was flat and a play park that was closed as they was treating the grass- we went after summer holidays. Overall a great vibe, looking forward to go back again.

Friendly staff, great homes for the animals, learnt a lot. There's a few benches to sit around the grounds. It's best to go for the whole day to go to all the animal talks, but you could just do a half day. Be aware that animals are more active at different times of day. Cheaper to buy ticket in advance.

Lovely enclosures and habitats. My 12 and 14yr old grandchildren enjoyed their visit during half term. It caters well for much younger visitors. I was very impressed with the Badger set and to see them so close even though they were sleeping.

The animals are housed in a sympathetic manner yet allow good viewing opportunities. A programme of informative runs through the day making this a fascinating place to visit

A very good place to spend the afternoon. The wildlife talks are easy to get to in time. There is lots to see there. Strongly recommend.

Enjoyed my recent visit generally. It is far from any public transport and not easy to get to. Spent half an hour walking from Lingfield station through thorny bushes. The animals were mostly asleep in the daytime, disappointed to miss the hedgehogs, minks, and otters for that reason. The owls were sad to be kept in the small cages. One Tawney owl kept making sad calls to its cousin in the wild, and one barn owl desperately tried to do flying exercises but couldn't go far, just flapping and circling around the cage like a peddling hamster.

I'm not a fan of Zoos but this place is great, it's more like a sanctuary that looks after animals that can't be released back to the wild. The enclosures are really good, most of them really big so I'm sure the animals are pretty happy there. My daughter loved it, our favourites were the sleeping badgers and the frogs.

  • 5/5 Sandra C. 2 years ago on Google
Visited with Family and two Grandsons. Lots of well kept British Wildlife. Foxes, Otters, Badgers, Red squirrels and many more. There were talks throughout the day on some of the animals. These were very interesting and informative. Also gave you a chance to get good photos. Good facilities and food available. Excellent day out.

I am an amateur photographer, and found this experience absolutely amazing. The talks were so informative! I have now sponsored the owls and have a membership, I am so looking forward to going to the centre in a few weeks! It was amazing seeing these animals, so have attached some photos to hopefully attract more people to the centre!

  • 4/5 James T. 11 months ago on Google
The animals seem to be regimed to the staff talks, activity/movement from each of the animals occured during the talks due to food being provided, beyond this it was fairly quiet. A nice range of animals within a nice setting. Staff demo's detailied knowledge of the animals.

  • 5/5 Andy F. 10 months ago on Google
A great day out. There are talks at regular intervals throughout the day which are pretty much a necessity if you want to see some of the shyest animals like the foxes and badgers. The keepers are passionate and do a great job informing visitors about the animals. It's nice to see somewhere dedicated to native British wildlife.

  • 4/5 Ali B. 10 months ago on Google
Great place, however due to the nature of the animals, some could not be seen, but perfectly normal as they also need to sleep. Good signs and explanations and many hands on sessions during the day where the staff explained more about the animals. Cafe was also decent

  • 5/5 Edward D. 1 year ago on Google
Charming experience and a great way to see more of the natural wildlife people miss on a day to day basis. They support rehabilitation of wildlife and help the populations of species we just don't get to see alot of. To be able to walk through the red squirrel enclosure and see them up close is wonderful. On site emenities offer everything you need to make a day of it but it's not so large that you will miss anything. For a quick trip you can work your way around in just over an hour. To really see it all and take it in I would aim for two hours. If you want to know more you can stay for regular educational pieces and demonstrations. If you haven't seen birds of prey up close its great to watch the trainers and keepers working with them. In short if you're in the area or needing a day out it's worth a visit. For children it is a great education on species they may never notice.

What magic day, an absolute hidden gem of a place. This is definitely an excellent day out for all of the family, especially for the children. The facilities are excellent, large car park, plenty of clean toilets, the cafe has really good basic food and is very good value for money, won't cost a fortune to feed the family or to get into the place. The wildlife are well looked after by enthusiastic and friendly staff who are well versed in all details about the wildlife. Read the other reviews or look at the website for details of all the different wildlife. This is the second time we have been to this delightful place and has enriched our experience of the diverse wildlife in our country which you only occasionally get a glimpse of in our normal lives. Just go there you won't be disappointed and the small entrance fee you pay to get in will help keep the centre running.
