Brilliant hotel! Great value with lovely rooms and massive TV. Toby Carvery downstairs is a bonus with amazing friendly bar staff. Highly impressed :)

I stayed for two nights 12 -- 13th October in room 24 .. My room and ensuite looked as good as rooms costing twice the price. I couldn't believe my luck in finding this accomodation at such a good rate . Breakfast is extra , i paid on the day and for only £5 is a bargain. I think i only paid about £8 for the carvery. Definitely staying here again. I can't remember their names but the staff on checking in / checking out and the waitress on the first night were brilliant. Upstairs / rooms are like any other high end hotel and there is a good traditonal pub and carvery downstairs. No noise, had a good nights sleep. Menu is a bit limited unless you want a carvery but there are other options nearby. Highly recommend.

Staff was very helpful, and the room was lovely and clean, lovely shower. Tea and coffee provided. Douvet not big enough, s it was quite cold at times. But I'm sure if I complained at the time, It would have been sorted. Lovely stay.

I requested a twin room on the booking, sent a 2nd email to confirm and also left a phone message. I had no idea until we arrived whether my request had been actioned (it had). When we arrived, we stood at reception for at least 4 minutes while your guy totally avoided eye contact (he was sorting out a couple’s bill) and offered not the slightest indication that we existed. First impressions were not good. The room was fine but very poor on the soundproofing (people talking in the car park, passing vehicles, people moving upstairs were all very audible). Headphones or ear plugs are highly recommended. But it was clean and comfortable and I slept well. Very well connected for buses, trains and amenities.

Beds comfy which is a must , rooms are clean, staff are friendly, if I want to moan then wi fi plays up, and after all these years they still dont listen? Breakfast quality is better than quantity

Overall the room was good, spacious enough for a wheelchair without feeling cramped once the wheelchair was in and parked up. There was a slight "feet" smell to the room though, the wife actually left the shoes in the car for the second night thinking it was them, it wasn't. The wet room is brilliant and accessible though the shower head is only good for those of us in a chair. The wife is 5'3 (so not at all tall) and the shower head reached her chest. I can't see why the shower head pole couldn't be made taller for able bodies as well as those of us in chairs. But it's not a huge issue. I've definitely slept on softer floors than those concrete bricks they call mattresses though. Location wise, fantastic. Directly opposite a train station. Though the station is only accessible on platform one. The return journey bringing us onto platform two had a flight of stairs, worth bearing in mind for those in wheelchairs. Free parking for the duration of our stay was an added bonus in this part of the world.

Room 1 totally unacceptable reasons being. Locked window. Staff outside window. Lights on continually or pitch black. No fresh air. Shower hand held and did not drain left floor wet and slippery and leaking into main room. Fire alarm went off three times at 8.30 pm and me and my husband run out into the car park in our night close. Red light in room flashing. Said we were not going to stay in that room another night. Staff had difficulty turning alarm off had to check all other rooms. TV on side of wall. Moved to room 3 at 3pm found satisfactory. I have taken photos and videos of all my complaints. Took a picture of how the eggs were served up first thing at 7 am completely flat, dry and crisp. We left without having breakfast. I complained Tuesday morning and received an e-mail from Eve Curtis guest care Representative ref. 64437007. We have stayed here before many years ago visiting family. It has deteareated in regard to the quality of the food and staff. I am waiting to hear what they are going to do about my bill. As I had to pay up front. Room no. 1 should have not been used. I asked for ground floor as I cannot do stairs and they don't have a lift. Spoilt my stay visiting my family.

The room we stayed in was spacious with a nice bathroom. The bed had been made into two equal twin beds which was good. We could not get the window fully open, even though a sign implied it should open completely. The only real problem with the room was that it was very dark. With all the available lights on, there was still not enough light to see properly. We ate at the restaurant and one of our party was vegan. There was only one plant-based hot option as a main meal and this was vegetables in pastry, ie. no protein at all. There were no vegan desserts on the usual menu. Surely these days, with many wanting to eat plant-based meals, even if only occasionally, that a meal with some protein (lentils, beans, soya, plant burgers) etc. could be provided and one vegan dessert. I would be happy to stay at the Toby Carvery at Eden Park again because of the room, but don't think I would eat here again unless better options were available for those wanting plant-based. We also got overcharged for the meal and had to get a part-refund.

The lighting in the bedroom definetely needs looking into. Very dull lighting. The breakfast was average, could have done with a bit more variety. Would like the addition of fresh fruit, and even yoghurts. There was no cereal on display. We had a water leak in the ensuite wash basin.Reported it on the 2nd day, and on the fifth day when leaving pointed out that this was not looked into. Was told as they did not have an on site maintenance this was booked. A bit disappointing to hear that, surely being such a big franchise they would employ a maintenance/handy man. Did not impress us.

Single bed was really uncomfortable In room 22. There was large damp area in room 2 A few female staff in the canteen area came across as rude and couldn’t be bothered We had breakfast, and a vegetarian in our group found bacon in their mushrooms. There was also a large amount of mushroom compost in the mushrooms. I also feel that at the price paid for the rooms that breakfast should be included. Ashtrays on tables outside were overflowing. The male staff member who checked us in though was very nice and informative.

Stayed here on Saturday night, it was a recommended by a friend who was having a birthday party nearby. Excellent stay all the way through from check in to check out. Ate alone in the restaurant on the Saturday evening and the waitress was so lovely and helpful. Room was lovely and the shower incredible. I think the only suggestions I'd make was the heater kept firing up and I'm a light sleeper and no lighting in the doorway. But would definitely stay again.

Room was very good, clean and today and the room was cleaned every day to a high standard, food from the carvery was excellent and all the staff were spot on I’d recommend the hotel to anyone and free car parking too

Great room , checkin staff very good on Friday evening, good parking facility ! Breakfast process could be improved for those who are staying ? Wasn’t told the coffee wasn't included ? Seems strange if staying ? No cutlery, had to request it . Only a slight thing but breakfast didnt run smoothly after a general good experience up until then ? One last comment would be to have a general inspection of all showers for mould ? Its relatively easy to remove nowadays and leaves a lasting impression? Good visit nonetheless

The staff were excellent as was the food. The room could do with a bigger heater but apart from that it was excellent and I am looking forward to staying there again.

The cooked meats were very good but the veg quite cold. It was re heated later. Although we had paid for breakfast both mornings, if you didn't want the cooked breakfast you had to pay MORE for cereal !!!

Very nice place to stay. Room was lovely and clean. However on checking out which I had to do at 6am. The number I tried calling for assistance to drop off keys or to ask what to do did not help! The number would ring for a few seconds then just stop calling altogether! The “drop box” for the keys was broken completely so i had to just place the keys inside the box behind a broken door and trust they would be found a later stage? Very stressful when trying to leave at 6am and you cant even contact a night porter for help! Would stay there again tho.

The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast was great but could do with some fruit and a cold option, for example cereal and yogurt. How ever with all that said the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. This is something we don’t do well in the UK. Beds are the centre piece of your stay and if it isn’t comfortable then you are not going to get a top rating.

The staff were very lovely, they worked with a smile on their face which was refreshing. The room was clean, bedding towels, bathroom etc. The heater was easy to work and warmed up the room relatively quickly. The only thing missing was a hairdryer which was disappointing.

Locatio fantastic relative to the location we were going to. Staff pleasant. Rooms quiet good for the cost, a bit of a maze .....breakfast poor for vegans, definitely room for more options here

Despite requesting not to cancel Room 1 of 10....that's exactly what the Central reservations did. We had 10 rooms and a changing schedule as to who would be staying and when. I called Central reservations and told them this - they said the person who booked it could only make changes...that person left the County months ago so that was not possible. The woman was very unhelpful. I also asked on arrival at the Reception to also not cancel this room. So on Tuesday when we wanted to use the room...it had been used by Toby Carvery for other guests and the hotel was fully booked!!! We had paid for that room! I had also written by email to Central reservations requesting the same - what else did you want me to do? Daylight robbery! The woman on Reception was busy on arrival but very unfriendly and kept me waiting for 7-8 mins before being seen...inbetween I was ignored. Costs nothing to say 'I am sorry I won't keep you waiting too long"...some kind of acknowledgement would be basic customer service! At breakfast...there is no cereal, no yoghurt or fresh fruit....only unhealthy fried food available. The cups and glasses are not freely available - you have to go to Reception to obtain one (to stop outsiders helping themselves?!! I think you need to review this...it's ridiculous...find another way of protecting your hotel which does not inconvenience your guests by treating them like children) and again the service was unfriendly, usually includes a wait at the bar and no smile ever seen. No welcome at all! All of my team (15 of them) reported the same back to me. I reported this to the Manager who was the only one who actually listened to my comments and managed to smile albeit it seems she could do nothing about the above issues or get a refund for our room which we did not use because Toby had resold it!

everything was great! For the first time, I got into a grtel, where the photo is completely true. The staff is at the highest level, the room is beautiful, all amenities are present, simply 10 out of 10!

room was very nice but extremely hot due to there being no air conditioning and the window could not open fully. A Fan was provided but it was stifling. An improvement would be obviously air conditioning or at least a portable air conditioning unit. Breakfast was very nice and the restaurant had air conditioning which we deliberately sought out to sit under. We like being able to come and go as we please and the facilities are really good.

The room itself was great and no problems there, it was very clean and tidy and of great quality for the price. However, after closing at 11pm, the staff stood directly below our window and were making a lot of noise until 11:50pm when they finally left. We felt this was very disrespectful, especially since one of the staff members was the one who checked us in so they knew there was someone in the room above. I'm sure if our bedroom was on the other side of the building we would have had no problems, but hopefully this will be discussed with the staff for future guests' benefit.

Room was nice size, clean and tidy, fresh towels every day was nice, beds comfy enough. Never ate here as we were visiting family close by, but food smelled lovely. Only downside was our room was right next to the corridor door so we heard it banging shut at night time when in our bed everytime someone came into the corridor to go out or into their room apart from that it was nice quiet location, would definitely stay again, staff friendly and welcoming x

The hotel was fine and it was quiet. Staff were friendly too. The room wasn't as clean as should have been and what I expect. Thankfully, I was only staying the one night. Because of thr cleanliness, I can't score this hotel very high and would say its adequate.

I have stayed in this Toby Carvery before. I like the complete package from great food, good quality bar, easy parking, nice relaxed decor and attitude. Then end the night by walking upstairs to bed. I find the rooms are super. Little to no road noise, and a good nights sleep. I stayed in a nearby Travelodge the night before. Whilst it appeared newer and more interesting, it certainly wasn't. Road noise was excessive, so poor sleep. And it was more expensive than the Toby Carvery. The Toby Carvery has improved over the years, and I love it. It's just right for me!

The location is very convenient and the staff very friendly. Housekeepers especially we’re great. The toilet was terrible, very difficult to flush completely. We reported it but was never fixed. We had to stay in Sunday night and Carvery ran out of food.

Room 14 is the room next to the corridor door. This corridor door has a fast release and slams shut. The hinge needs a slow release. The slamming of this door did wake us up. The room interior was lovely and very clean. Staff too were great

Our welcome reception was excellent really friendly and helpful staff. The room was beautiful really clean all the facilities and everything that we need for a comfortable stay. A comfortable bed towels provided washing toiletries are provided and the breakfast in the morning was absolutely lush being allowed to choose from the large variety at the Toby carvery buffet. All in all an excellent evening and an excellent hotel.

Room was a good size and very clean. Bar service was prompt and friendly. Breakfast wasn't too bad but there was no sign of any Yorkshire puds. My only fault is the loud bang the bedroom doors make when closing. Every time someone went in or out of a room I got woke up.

Second stay at this hotel. Great little place, free parking and the benefits of that yummy Toby breakfast in the morning. Staff are alway friendly. Would recommend and would stay there again when visiting the area.

Visited the area from my home in Spain to be in UK foe the birth of our first grandchild. The check in was efficient and friendly and informative. The room was adequate, well heated and well equipped. The beds were very u comfortable, hard but with a few dips which gave us both back ache. We found it necessary to fold our duvets in half and sleep on one side to try to give an extra layer. The room was very dusty and generally although the beds were made daily the walls and other areas had a thick layer of dust that irritated my asthma at night. I think also apart from a general tighten up with the cleaning routine, they would benefit from using a carpet sanitize spray or something daily and hoover more frequently. Would I stay there again?. Probably, if the need arose because the location was good and the staff were friendly. The standard of food was reasonable.

This is a very nice place for a wheelchair user to stay. The accessible room is superb and they let my autistic kids stay in the room opposite once we explained that they needed to be near. The food is always good - especially on a Sunday. And they have a car park. The pub is always super busy on a Sunday so if you want to eat you will need to book. It's also overrun with families. I would say the staff are very accommodating and other than a bit of dust here and there I can't really fault it. Would definitely stay again.

the rooms are well spacious, clean and cosy. the staff are super friendly and helpful. the food amazing and good value for money. the only thing i recommend is that the room doors so be with soft closing and also it is a big loss that you do not have a lift service. having heavy luggage's makes it difficult to use the stairs.
