Sidcup
David
Lloyd
is
everything
you’d
dream
of
for
a
premium
lifestyle
gym
club
if
the
Chicago
Bulls
had
just
won
their
3rd
successive
title
&
the
year
is
1993.
The
club
is
tired,
worn
and
in
sore
need
of
development.
Despite
being
the
runt
of
the
David
Lloyd
litter,
it
remains
popular
and
over
crowded.
The
pool
during
the
summer
makes
the
07:45
Sidcup
train
to
London
bridge
seem
spacious
and
i
don’t
advise
going
for
a
late
night
swim
for
a
cool
down
as
the
pool
is
funky
with
a
film
of
sun
cream
,dirt
and
no
doubt
urine
to
accompany
you
on
your
swim.
Staff
tend
to
see
combatting
pool
cleanliness
as
a
losing
battle.
i
made
the
terrible
choice
of
rejoining
with
my
partner
in
June
2023
(
as
a
former
member
3/4
years
ago).
The
sales
staff
was
great
as
you
would
expect
and
we
discussed
the
long
awaited
rejuvenation
of
the
Sidcup
branch.
It
is
NOW
finally
underway
but
sadly
coinciding
with
my
return
which
means
my
high
membership
fee
has
currently
enjoyed
both
a
dilapidated
club
and
now
construction
ridden
club.
You
would
think
a
discount
might
be
provided
but
instead
you’re
made
to
feel
lucky
that
you
will
get
to
experience
what
is
standard
at
other
clubs
and
therefore
must
endure
the
time
with
a
cheery
demeanour.
It
seems
despite
being
endlessly
peppered
with
surveys
no
action
is
taken
and
i
have
resorted
to
this
rather
long
review.
The
Induction
PT
was
also
a
nightmare,
forced
to
book
the
3
free
slots
on
the
spot
at
times
not
convenient,
i
was
then
made
to
tour
the
gym
which
hasn’t
changed
in
20
years
and
then
had
conduct
1
min
demos
on
the
bike,
a
treadmill
and
elliptical
as
this
was
the
process
.
Sadly
no
other
process
followed
to
share
the
training
plan
i’d
wasted
30
mins
discussing
in
a
questionnaire.
To
add
insult
to
injury
this
mandatory
induction
was
not
updated
on
the
system
so
i
could
not
gain
entry
to
the
gym
without
discussing
at
reception.
I
truly
hope
the
rebuild
of
the
gym
brings
it
to
standard
but
i
don’t
hold
my
breath
(i
witnessed
the
last
pool
fix)
and
i’m
incredibly
frustrated
with
the
facilities
(changing
rooms
/
classes
/
layout)
and
overall
quality
of
the
experience.
My
timing
clearly
wasn’t
great
but
i
think
the
gym
could
have
treated
me
and
my
partner
better
and
offered
something
to
compensate.
Understandably;
i
think
the
staff
(who
are
friendly
in
general)
have
given
up
a
bit
until
the
refurb
and
i
appreciate
managing
some
of
these
challenges
may
well
lay
with
management
and
owners.
The
club
has
clearly
generated
huge
revenues
but
has
not
reinvested
and
has
therefore
in
my
belief
let
its
staff
down
also.
It
shows
and
i
don’t
see
issues
resolved
or
managed
meaningfully.
i
have
gone
to
other
clubs
(beckenham/
kidbrooke
/
dartford)
and
the
difference
is
palpable.
These
are
what
one
expects
from
a
health
club
whereas
Sidcup
is
a
leisure
centre.
I
would
recommend
making
these
your
home
club
until
the
work
is
done.
i
will
finish
by
saying
the
cafe
and
food
is
excellent
but
again
the
area
could
use
a
facelift!
kind
regards.
