Referred by Darenth valley hospital to have a followup checkup for my premature baby, though doctor was nice but staff in Acorns was very rude. A lady at reception in acorn outpatient unit was as bad as she doesn’t know how to treat patients.we were 5 min late because went to main hospital reception to check about Acorn unit and after finding it all the way to back of hospital we were 5 min late. Lady at reception was quiet angry and the moment we entered she started complaining that we are late. One of the nurse checked our appointment letter and then she realised that Acorn address wasn’t mentioned properly so they decided to weigh baby. But the lady at reception was unbearable and rude. God bless those guys who are coming for treatment and experienced such bad staff.

I had a surgery yesterday in Queen Mary's hospital. Everything went fantastic. Starting from the receptionist till the nurses in the recovery room. I was very well looked after from everybody especially in the recovery room. The nurse who was looking after me, was superb. She was very helpful, kind, patient and very well experienced. I would like to thank all the doctors, surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and staff who were involved in my surgery. You made my experience very relaxing and pleasant. Thank you all !!!!!!!

Just had an operation at this hospital. I stayed overnight on Mottingham ward and I would like to say that the nursing staff in this ward are absolutely lovely. They took great care of me, nothing was too much trouble for them. Every member of the medical team i met were fantastic. The anesthetist explained everything in detail and so did the surgeon, really made me feel at ease. When i came round in recovery, the staff were great, got my pain under control immediately and made sure i was comfortable before taking me back to the ward. All of the nurses were so friendly and cheerful and they made sure I was comfortable. The ward is spotless, the cleaner came in twice checking the ward was clean & tidy. Huge thank you to all of the staff (especially Joy-Dorothy)

I attended the urgent care centre with a hole in my foot; stood on an exposed metal rod and it went straight through the sole of my boot. First, the parking machine advertised a card facility though did not work. We tried 3 different cards. Then we tried coins. All fares at £X.50, and of course the machines only accept £1 coins. What a blatant rip off. The self-check in machines work well, however after 45 minutes waiting I was told I would not be seen due to staff going home. The facility is advertised as being open 24 hours. An extremely disappointing service and a waste of time.

Just before Christmas 2021 my 96 year old Mum got diagnosed with skin cancer on her scalp at Queen Mary’s…(in the Maxillofacial unit) on 20 Jan she had the skin cancer removed…turns out it was at stage 3…but it was all successfully removed and scans etc have shown it has not spread. They have looked after her so well from the consultant (who my mother has fallen in love with 😍) to the nurses..today they discharged her from the dressing clinic, just one more trip back to see the consultant..today we gave them chocolates, which seems a bit bit paltry considering how they looked after her…so I thought I’d give them a mention in this review. Hope I’ve posted in the right place…thank you so much 🥰

Got there early for booster jab. Not open till appointment time. Rather disorganised when it did. Filled in one form then told it was wrong one and handed another. Understand this was probably 1st booster session. Sure it will be as efficient as it was was 1st jabs.

Just want to say how wonderful the gentleman on the phlebotomy reception desk is. Should have asked his name but anyone who would have met him would absolutely know who I’m talking about. I told him on my way out that I am so happy when I see him there as he is always so friendly and helpful. And also, the lovely nurse who took my blood was as wonderful as he was. Hope you both are recognised for the lovely people you are.

Worst Hospital ever. My mum got referred to this hospital for her eyes. Her 1st appointment was at 9.30 AM and we went there at 9.15 we are the 1st people in the waiting area. Until 11 nobody called her, people who came after us have been seeing by the nurse and doctors, and we are there waiting. when i asked the nurse she said asked my mum's name and she said she's looking for her notes that's why its getting delayed. After 45 mins Nurse checked my mum and waiting for another 40 mins for the scanning and waiting there for the report. After 1PM I told the nurse as we have another appointment in 45 mins, can she call my mum to check, she said the nurse appointment will take longer. so i told her if we can come another day, she was like ok. 2nd appointment, we thought they will carry out the test from where we left, but No my mum has to go through the same procedure again, after 3 hours we get to see the doctor. and doctor said she need to do another test with the nurse after that she's ready for surgery and they will let us know about the surgery day. We get to see the nurse and she done BP and ECG also asked to do a blood test for HbA1c and then we can go home. Within 2 weeks we received another letter from the hospital for a Pre assessment, we attend the appointment aswell and paid for the car parking for 3 hours, the nurse said she doesn't need anymore assessment, when I asked why I got the letter then she said she doesn't know, and I need to check with the reception when I asked the receptionist she said its on the system. After 4 months my mum received another letter for pre assessment am trying to call them to check from the morning and " You're on the queue, and will be answered shortly, I am sorry but there are no agents to answer you call please call later" Somehow I get to talk to them and they said she need to do a pre assessment to do the cataract surgery, because the last test only valid for 3 months. NO SURE HOW ARE THEY MANAGING THE BOOKINGS. WORST ADMINISTRATION AND DOCTORS!!!!

This urgency service is really disappointing, today had to come here with mother in law having an otitis and complaining with ear pain. We arrive around 9pm and this place was empty only 2 or 3 person waiting , is passed more that 3 hours and still waiting to be checked by a doctor. Meanwhile came people more late and get checked and out ..I’m guessing is the priority system..But the worst was when someone came here with a really bad asthma attack and the receptionist just send them on another hospital to deal with that situation .. not his fault but I guess they are very short doctors here and don’t have the people to deal with this kind of situations anyway I don’t know how is this happening here but there is not enough services and I have the feeling the doctors are lazy ..

Very large hospital, so it's a bit overwhelming when you first arrive. I had a quick cuppa in the Friends cafe by the entrance Lovely volunteers. Then an appointment at the emergency Eye dept. It is a very confusing place with different bays and clinics. I was seen by 4 different staff and only 1 introduced herself (Clare the technician lovely lady). Would be better if they would put nervous patients at ease in some way or explained things better.

Went to Queens Mary hospital, eye clinic, following an emergency referral from my optician. Very friendly and efficient staff, especially Maria and Madalina. They really went out of their way to put me at ease. During these very busy & challenging times, thank you for your help and fantastic service.

Came to the Urgent Care Unit with a burst blood vessel in my left eye on saturday around 12pm. After waiting for 4 hours I was told that they can't help me. Seriously? I was told to call Specsavers to have someone look at the back of my eye and if it gets worse, go to hospital in central London with eye specialist. So if there was no eye specials in Queen Mary's hospital at that time, why did they make me wait 4 hours to tell me this? What is wrong with these people?

I never have felt more obliged the leave a review, this is the first time I’ve ever been referred to Queen Mary’s, firstly for pre-op assessment & then for planned surgery. I wish I could mention names, but all staff in both teams, from those in pre-opp, Avery Hill & Mottingham Ward, the anesthesisit and my consultant surgeon were just absolutely amazing and a huge credit to the hospital. In fact, every single staff member I had contact with. And especially the lady from Avery Hill who checked me in and walked me down to surgery - just so so lovely and kind. They were all just so happy, of a caring nature and couldn’t do anymore to make me feel comfortable and at ease. The whole process even down to the theatre scheduling was faultless. The knowledge they had about my pre existing conditions had all been looked into by the anesthesisit the prior day and looking after me just came naturally to her, the anesthesist man who worked with her putting me under and to all. I was super anxious before the general but they made the whole process calm to the point I was laughing before going to sleep!! My Consultant Mr Dunkley, I have never met someone so lovely and approachable in all the consultants I’ve ever seen & I hope (well don’t hope) but should I need surgery again that it will be by him. The hospital was so clean, especially the toilets and modern. I only hope that future referrals tho this hospital rather that DVH happen for me. NHS staff really really are so incredibly amazing and on this occasion I just had to express my gratitude. I hope this can be passed on to them as I don’t feel like these people get enough praise. I thank you so so much.

Had to take my son here for a broken finger. Such a well organised, clean and friendly place. Obviously people will moan about waiting times but there is nothing they can do about the numbers of people that come to their hospital. But we were lucky to be dealt with really quickly and efficiently. Receptionist kept everyone updated on wait times, cleaner waved and joked with the kiddies, radiographers showed us pictures and was super thorough, both nurses we saw were epic and beautiful of soul! Every single member of staff we saw was warm and friendly and caring. Thank you everyone. Keep going - you are appreciated!

Awful service. My partner has been waiting since December to get a definitive diagnosis with a consultant to find out what level of surgery is required for treatment. There have been several occasions where this case has been severely mismanaged. Firstly initial scans weren't shared between GP & consultants so when she finally had a first appointment, nothing could be confirmed. Secondly she was referred to an MRI but didn't receive any communications and it took 2 months to receive an appointment after chasing up the secretary's on multiple occasions, which meant the second consultant had to be rearranged. Finally the second consultant was cancelled last minute with no contact for the appointment to be rearranged, nobody was able to advise why it could be cancelled, then when she finally did get through to someone they shared some worrying details of the condition but still said it could be up to 2 months before official communications. "The waiting times are described in the Handbook to the NHS Constitution. For routine, non-urgent conditions you have the right to start your treatment within 18 weeks of being referred." - it has been longer than 18 weeks!! This is appalling and causing huge amounts of stress, it makes me wonder what we are paying our taxes towards! This condition could impact our ability to have a family in the future and the inadequate service received by this hospital / NHS has made the situation so much worse than it needs to be and will more than likely make the condition worse whilst not being treated.

Ridiculous waiting times at urgent care and absurd system of "queuing " People literally screaming in pain with broken limbs while others with minor burns being checked faster. This hospital needs to look very carefully how they assess patients at so called "urgent" care!!!!

Second time I’ve visited QM eye clinic in a year due to an infected left eye and finally it’s getting better. I would like to say the staff throughout the hospital from reception to doctors are so friendly and go way out of their way to help you get yourself back on the mend. I would like to say biggest thanks to Ruth (I think she is South African nurse) on the eye clinic team, absolutely brilliant controlling of an over busy eye department f.o.h. She even told all b waiting patients about the slight delay and how they were trying to resolve the delay, and brilliant triage service also. The NHS is a wonderful service we have in our country and QM really made me feel like they give a !!!! Well done QM brilliant service

The charging system at Queen Mary's is outrageous You are charged on arrival but as you do not know how long you will be at your appointment you tend to overpay. Parking should be charged on exiting the site. I had to pay £2.50 for a 15 minute scan. Outright theft.

After 5 hours waiting in a waiting room in the other hospital (DVH), and nobody asked why we’ve been there…we decided to come here, and we don’t regret it! I have always had my blood test taken at queen marys hospital without any issue but the two lady’s that are now on the check in desk are extremely rude, disrespectful and disorganised. They sit there gossiping whilst patients are waiting to be checked in, you’re greeted with a cold glare and given a number. During my visit they managed to get the ticket system wrong twice, meaning all the new patients that had just arrived were given a lower number than everyone who had been waiting there for their blood test for 20mins plus. Therefore they were taken to have there blood tests before us whilst we all waited to be seen. When myself and an elderly couple tried to politely explain to the lady’s on the desk what had gone wrong, we were rudely told to be quiet and they don’t want to hear it. Truly Awful behaviour. These lady’s really shouldn’t be dealing with the public and definitely shouldn’t be employed by the NHS.

Had to have Ultra Sound today at QMS at 1050.What a wonderful experience. Offered a wheelchair and taken to Imaging by a super guy (sorry did get his name). The ultra sound staff were welcoming and efficient (Dartford and Gravesham). Rang the porter and I was on my way back home by 1110. Well done Bexley Care, Oxleas and all at QMS.

Hate paying for parking but when inside the hospital, the reception was very good at giving directions, when arrived at imaging department book in waited approximately 15 minutes and was seen almost immediately 10 minutes later back in my car. Could not fault the service

Was booked in for Day surgery, was so anxious, however, I want to say the staff was great, so informative and make you feel like you’re not just another number. Everyone who was part of the team that dealt with me, was lovely. The first nurse gives you a complete run down of the day and it’s happens exactly, you see a surgeon again, all questions answered. You then meet with one of your anaesthetists, again all questions answered fully. All anxiousness is relaxed. Upon going down to theatre, you meet both anaesthesiologists, who keep you smiling till asleep, I then woke up to nurses around me who again was very warm, I was given a warm blanket as I Started to shiver 🥶, you are then on recovery ward(Mottingham ward), with toast and biscuits. Until your chaperone arrives. Just want to say thank you for turning an anxious experience, into one walking away and commending the service

I had an excellent experience at the hospital's Planned Care Center. The staff there was amazing, although I wish I could remember their names. I underwent a salpingectomy, and the medical team was incredibly supportive. The only drawback was an unexpected emergency (not mine), which led to a 7-8 hour wait for my surgery. Fortunately, I had my computer with me, and watching Netflix made the wait much more bearable. Despite the long wait, I'm grateful for the care I received at the hospital.

Ophthalmology department. Spent most of the morning trying to speak to someone about my mother's eye surgery. On the 6th attempt, someone picked up the phone & explained that the team had been in training that morning. (a) Why was there no voicemail message explaining this and asking patients to leave their contact details so a member of the team could call them back, or at least saying that the department is closed for training and will be reopening at X time; and (b) why can't the training be staggered so that some members of the team are available to respond to patient queries. Instead silence (the phone just went "dead"). Has anyone in the NHS heard of customer service training? On another note, I am notified that my mother has a routine eye appointment at Orpington hospital on the same day she is having cataract surgery at QMH. This appointment is from the same opthalmic team responsible for the cataract surgery appointment. Surely, the fact that my mother is having cataract surgery on this date (and cannot be in two places at the same time) is on the computer system?

Took my child here yesterday as he hurt his wrist. Had an X-ray and then we were sent on our way with them telling us it was a dislocated wrist. Went to a different hospital only to be told it was infact completely broken and he needed an operation! I didn’t sit waiting for 4 hours for your staff to just guess what was wrong! I could of done that! So unprofessional

I had my surgery at Queen Mary's yesterday. I found all the staff very helpful and pleasant and all staff involved in my operation explained everything clearly to me at all times. I felt reassured and looked after. I was told what to do and look out for when I got home and gave me pain relief and leaflets to read. They rung me today at home to see if I was ok. Couldn't fault the care thanks so much
