Sadly the heating was broken so it was not very warm, the food was nice but the portion was tiny for an adult meal. The service was first class

Possibly the worst customer service ever Whilst I appreciate it wasn’t the staff members fault who contacted me it’s the lack of communication and common sense that amazes me We booked a table for 6 for Sunday roasts we were contacted 25 minutes before our booking to be told the roasts were unavailable ( this was a Sunday so the additional menu is pretty small told we have burgers !! ) the party had two members with dietary requirements meaning the rest of the menu was no good for them , given it’s a Sunday you would assume that they would know roasts would be the choice item for most people rather than over subscribing bookings so that there is no food available We were literally about to leave the house to go when we got the call. This was a birthday meal and we were left with nothing! Therefore the birthday was ruined and we had no meal for the evening. I appreciate that it’s subject to availability but they know the amount of covers booked in and didn’t cater for that don’t take bookings if you can’t fulfill them then offer to cook everyone burgers. Plus 25 minutes notice as to the fact you can’t fulfill the booking is atrocious. Sent and email to head office just think this is poor standards

We travelled a fair distance to eat here, my daughter booked. We went for the Sunday roast, when we sat down the menu only listed turkey, not so bad but within minutes we were told that was off the very limited menu. We left 4 hungry adults one baby & no communication

Cheap and cheerful. Don't expect quality. Kate who who served us was a nice girl. Poor love was working virtually alone out in the floor.

This place seems to have changed and it feels like it is getting ready to close. No food, fires switched off the whole warmth of the pub is disappearing.****** Thanks for your reply to my post. It is great to hear that the pub is moving forward and has new staff. We have always enjoyed coming to you, and cannot believe the changes that have happened. Roll on November I can't wait *****update 11.12.22.....attended the queen's head for our annual family dinner. The table was booked for 3pm. Starters came out at 3.50 meal was finished just shy of 6pm, so I would guess that staffing is still an issue. Fires were on and there was a DJ playing giving the place an atmosphere that was badly missing on our last visit. There are signs of improvement but the service was very slow seeing as there was only us and another table eating so I am guessing probably 20 ish covers in total. Pleased to see the warmth coming back into the pub.

Early Friday evening meal for three late celebrating a birthday. Wide menus but some ingredients not available. Youthful staff very good and warm welcome. Parking free and plenty space. Will visit again! Thank you ladies 🤗

Came here for 2nd time and this time had Sunday roast , it was not good. Peas were dry , steak bland and turkey dry, the food just lacks passion and they really need to get it right, portions was also small for a 13.79 for the mains . Everything else about this pub restaurant is great which is a shame , they need to invest or sort the kitchen out! It’s not fine dining cuisine , a trained cook with a bit more passion, should be able to knock out decent quality really so please take some action.

Not a good place for food - served us burnt food. When asked, they politely told that "unfortunately" that is how they generally cook it. At least they realized the entire thing was unfortunate!!!

The boiler was broken & it was freezing cold. They did have 2 fires going but was still very cold. The food we had was nice except they forgot onion rings on 1 meal, the eggs for the mixed grill, we did get them but he'd finished his meal by the time they replaced it. My Husband had half a chicken which was actually 2 chicken legs! We complained & did offer a dessert or drink but we just wanted to leave! There was also a birthday party & the disco stated at 7.30pm, very loud & we did ask if they would turn it down while we were eating & was told I'll try, they didnt turn it down. We were out with family & couldn't have a nice conversation. 2 of our party had upset stomachs the next day! We could have been informed about no heating & a party, if we had we would have gone somewhere else. Won't go here again!

I can't speak highly enough about the staff at this pub! From the moment I walked in, their warmth and attentiveness created a welcoming atmosphere. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure my needs were met. Their extensive knowledge of the menu and drinks was impressive, and their recommendations were spot on. It's evident that the staff takes pride in their work, as they effortlessly balanced professionalism with a friendly demeanor. Whether you're there for a quick drink or a full meal, you can trust that the staff will make your visit a memorable and delightful experience.

Lovely pub that I visited 1st time with my kids. The lady who served us was very friendly, helpful and very efficient. The place looked well maintained, clean and spacious. Only went for a drink and a little sweet treat for the kids but looking at their menu I will be returning for sure.

Booked a table for 9 for a birthday, whilst the food was nice, there were a lot of meals and drinks unavailable which on a Friday night which wasn’t busy, was a bit disappointing. The service was a bit lacking, plates not cleared until we’d left, no asking if we were ok or had any extra requirements. May be that’s what a self order, self pay restaurant pub environment is like, so perhaps my expectations need revising. No recognition of the birthday guest even though it was in the special requests

We had a table booked for Xmas lunch yesterday for 8 people, it was a shambles!! Table was booked for 2.45pm, we didn’t get starters until 3.45! The nearly another hour wait for mains! The mains food wasn’t great, some not cooked properly, some cold, my daughter was handed a very hot plate and burnt her hands! There were sausages on the veggie dinners! All in all not great, was very disappointed, and definitely not worth the money we paid for the meals! The manager was lovely and was trying his best, but I think the kitchen staff are letting him down! I won’t be coming back, it’s a shame as have eaten in this pub a lot in the past.

Don't bother booking a meal here as they take your booking online then when you turn up tell you the kitchen is shut. We even chose our meals went to the bar & paid for them & then the chef came over & said he had cleaned all the grill & the kitchen & wouldn't be doing anymore cooking. The waitress even brought us over a jug of water without telling us there was no food. Apparently they are very short staffed WELL DO NOT TAKE ANY BOOKINGS. This was a special meal for a 60th birthday. We had to find somewhere else to eat. They gave us 25% off our next meal but we will not be going back there in the future. I would ring first & check if you have made a booking to make sure you will get a meal.

Pleasant enough pub, typical Ember Inns offering, so very corporate, mainstream drinks offerings only, and clearly shipped in food. Service was friendly, but really slow, two hours to have a one course meal, and this was on a weekday, hopefully they have more staff on at a weekend. My curry was OK, but processed vegan triangles from the freezer, with a tiny amount of pre-made curry sauce, and a mountain of OK rice. A step up from Wetherspoons, but not by much.

My earlier review from summer seems to have been deleted. Just a note for any coeliacs - they apparently have a folder with food info, but the staff couldn't find it when we there there and we were asked by the barman if they "didn't know what they could have". So yeah, unfortunate and maybe call them before going so you can eat.

Well- lit establishment with a good variety of vegetarian and vegan meals. The surprise star was the generous bowl of nachos. The quality of the food was great - 5 stars would be given for food alone. 4 stars due to the cocktails ordered not really hitting the spot and being more like fruit juice.

Went there last weekend for a Saturday evening and there was a dj playing 80s music. I don't normally jam for that kind of stuff but i have to say. I had a great time. Awesome atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend giving it a try!

The food was ok, not brilliant though. The waitress forgot to press send on our order so we waited a while for our food. No ice for drinks as the machine was broken. The waiting staff had a McDonald’s delivered, sat in the restaurant eating it! Cleared plates whilst some of us were still eating. Wanted a coffee and mini dessert but they’d run out of milk! Unbelievable, there was a petrol station next door and a supermarket just up the road where they could have got milk! But they didn’t! So we didn’t have a dessert or coffee.

Amazing pub with a great atmosphere, staff were very friendly, respectful, kind and understanding. Some of the staff are fairly new so it’s best to be patient and give them time to get your order ready. The food is absolutely superb, theres a lot of variety to choose from and the chefs give you a lot of wiggle room to mix and match to make yourself the perfect meal. Also a decent selection of drinks to choose from such as cocktails, ciders, ales you name it. Overall it makes for a very enjoyable experience

Good atmosphere and service was good , I didn't eat, so I can't comment on food. The Downside was they only had one bitter on draught , Timothy Taylor, which I'm not a big fan of. They did have a nice porter beer. In the past, there was a good selection of bitters , maybe I was just unlucky on the day.

The food had the potential of being lovely but unfortunately the curry was barely lukewarm (the rice was hot) the naan bread tasteless, the burger burnt and crunchy, the coffee very weak, Guinness was good, the apple crumble pie was cold and on a very cold plate, lumpy custard but it was hot, the eton mess seriously lacked its fruit and meringue pieces, it was a big portion of cream and ice cream. The staff were out of sight most of the time and didn't do the customary 'is everything okay?'. We'd originally sat down at a vacant table, but were quickly asked to move by the waitress being sent over by the manager, because we'd sat next to a reserved table! Which didn't make sense, besides which it wasn't reserved until 5:30pm, we sat down at the unreserved adjacent table at 3:30pm! To top it off, the pie and the mixed grill were unavailable, so we settled for the ultimate burger and the curry. We'd return for a drink if we were passing but we won't eat there again.

We were in the other night and saw Matthews flawless customer service skills making everyone smile and keeping a warm environment - I even saw him help satisfy a pregnant lady’s craving of egg on toast as she felt sick! 5 star service from all staff.

I was very disappointed the last time we came was fab. This time, the service was terrible. Waited far too long for desert. Felt like the staff couldn't be bothered. The place was so cold everyone wore coats eating lunch. Unless you were sitting non top of the fire.

Large chain pub. Food is ok. Don't expect haute cuisine but it's not expensive. Beers can be a bit haphazard as they don't always have a good selection of draft bitters. Could do with a tidy up. Large garden at the rear and large seating area in the front of the pub

The atmosphere of this pub has changed to the better. Great service with polite and friendly staff. Can’t wait for the Christmas events at this pub. Well done.

Upon experiencing an uncomfortable drink and meal at this pub I came here to leave a review. It was the good reviews that influenced my decision to try it but now reading them, It’s rather shameful to see it’s the staff of this pub leaving the good ones. If you click the names on most, it will take you to the photos of the staff there when I visited. One being the gaming review. If it isn’t the staff, the surname on some reviews match the surname of the manager answering these reviews. It is illegal to post fake reviews on your own business so I will be reporting to trading standards. Deceiving and shameful.

Just had lunch with friends at The Queens Head, Green St Green. Having visited this venue before and been pleasantly satisfied, I am sorry to say that today was not the case. We waited far too long for the meal, especially given the place was not busy. No chicken available so forced to re-choose. I chose gammon, my guests chose bass fish and burger. What a disappointment. All meals were overcooked to burnt. Poor quality food unable to eat. So sad as you only disappoint your customers once to no longer serve them again ! Pulll your socks up !

The manager Sam is so hostile and horrible towards his staff. I heard him talk to younger female members of staff in a derogatory manner. The only reason I didn’t leave this pub there and then was because I was worried for this girl so I waited. On the other hand, the young man (I didn’t catch his name) who served me was delightful and very accommodating. Sam also spent almost the entire time I was there back and forth out to the car park meeting people. Clearly a side hustle! Get rid of this awful management who is running this once lovely pub into the ground.

Feeling angry. Arrived at the pub, on a Saturday, to see a note on the door saying kitchen closed at 3.30. Quickly made a decision as to what we wanted and went to the bar to order as we thought that would be quicker than ordering on my phone. Girl behind the bar said kitchen closed at 3.15!!!! That's not what the notice said. I explained that it was 3.15 but she wouldn't budge and take my order. Left immediately feeling angry and hungry. Not happy, won't be returning any time soon!

Unwelcoming, cold atmosphere. Nobody ever at the bar to serve and the man in charge is always glued to his phone. Don’t recommend at all. The pub down the road is better👍🏻
