Fantastic visit to St Andrews aquarium today. We opted for feeding the Meerkats and were taken in by a very experienced member of staff. He was very professional and we spent 30 minutes feeding and learning about Meerkats. After that we had a look round the Aquarium - we had been before so didn't go into depth but they have some wonderful tanks and animals to see - definitely a trip for the whole family. Prices are reasonable and staff are very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend the Aquarium for a visit.

The aquarium is small, a lot smaller than I expected for the £12 ticket price, it took us less than an hour to walk round the whole thing, and that was stopping at everything to read and take photos, so we were left feeling somewhat disappointed. That said, what animals are there are very interesting, there's a nice variety. The staff we spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to chat about the animals.

It’s excellent, though it is expensive. Of the aquariums on the East Coast of Scotland, this is the better one. It’s not huge but plenty to see and do. The standouts are the octopus, the penguins and the seals. The seals are just unbelievably cute. They seem very happy and contented, which is something you can’t fake. They have a large and clean enclosure and look almost Buddha-like in their satisfaction as they swim and play. Do not miss the feedings.

For £13 per adult, I expected a bit more for the price and a longer experience. Price aside, I enjoyed looking around, seeing the animals and learning new things. The enclosures and tanks looked well maintained and the animals seemed to be satisfied with their surroundings too. I have no complaints about the staff either - all were friendly. Didnt have time to catch a feed as we had to get going but I appreciated that the ticket allowed you to come and go for the entire day. I thought the gift shop was decent too.

Awful, awful experience!! My wife is in a wheelchair so we bought a disabled ticket online and happily headed there for a morning out. We arrived to then be obnoxiously told that "there are stairs everywhere, she wont be able to go anywhere". Well that was rude! So then we asked what we could come and see and were told "she wont be able to see anything" and without clarifying anything the lady behind the desk said you'll get an email within 4 working days about your refund. No discussion! Just that was that! Horrible, horrible experience! I put this so this doesn't catch anyone else out who goes with anyone with a wheelchair. And to be fair with how rude the staff were - maybe just avoid in general for everyone.

We decided to have a mini family trip as the aquarium was offering group discounts and we're now allowed to venture out! It was enjoyed by all and the fact that you book for a time lets you that much headway before more people crossed your path indoors. It was a more relaxed pace and we enjoyed looking at the animals available. A good walking pace around the center and the car park was not too full; it's a Pay and Display site. There is a coffee shop onsite and toilets were clean.

Great place for the whole family to enjoy. Lots and lots of cool animals like different types of fish (obviously), sharks, rays, seahorses, jellyfish, seals as well as meerkats, marmosets, snails, tortoises and many other. The staff are very polite and friendly. Tickets are valid all day and can be used multiple times a day. A special thank you to the St Andrews Aquarium for having baby changing facilities in the ladies and gents toilets; something that's very uncommon but should be standard everywhere. The aquarium isn't too pram/buggy friendly as there are quite a few steps here and there. Unless you have a lightweight buggy I'd recommend using a baby carrier. We'll definitely be back as we had a great time.

A great selection of marine animals and reptiles. Great for the kids but there are stairs as there are about 3 different levels. There are presentations when feeding some of the animals and also lots of information about the animals near their tanks/enclosures.

Embrace the blue hues and quiet serenity of this lovely aquarium. While relatively small, it is quite dense and comprehensive in its portrayal of ocean life, from large numbers of turtles swimming playfully in a tank to an array of South American penguins cleaning themselves before leaving barking to the stormy gray waters. Because the passageways are relatively narrow, not a lot of people can move through the aquarium at one time, so try to arrive earlier in the day, before it becomes crowded. The price is £15, rather low for an aquarium but not insignificant, especially considering the small size of the aquarium. If you are living in St. Andrews, I highly recommend purchasing the yearly pass, which pays for itself within 3 visits. While not as iconic as the venerable golf courses or the towering stone cathedral ruins, is aquarium is a lovely place to calm if you need a quiet place to unwind from the chaos of life and marvel at the fluid movement of underwater animals.

Really nice little aquarium with passionate staff and lots of different animals. People complain about how it's too small and 'overpriced' but unlike many other aquariums this is a small business that has to care for all the animals. I had a great time and wikk definitely consider coming back if I'm ever in the area again!

Brilliant place - a little pricey I guess, but the Aquarium is wonderful. A big variety of wildlife available to see. Couple of notes - there is three flights of stairs down to the start of the Aquarium circuit and I didn't spot a lift - we had to carry a pram down - not a problem for us, but I'm not sure if they have a more accessible option (they likely do). When we visited, there was barely anyone there. I'd imagine that at more crowded times, it could be a tad claustrophobic but as it was, we had lots of opportunity to go around and see everything on offer. Staff super friendly and generally great all around!

Nice family-run aquarium. I like that try to educate people not only about animals but also about the environment. During the day they have feeding season. It was lovely we enjoyed our time there but for the size of the aquarium I think it was a little too expensive.

Relatively small much like other aquariums in Scotland but can still easily spend 90 minutes looking around. Nice to have other animals along with the fish. Great layout and I think the cost to get in is very reasonable, cheaper than other aquariums.

Visiting the St. Andrews Aquarium might not be the first thing you think of when visiting St. Andrews, but it is certainly an experience you will not forget. Get an up close and personal experience next to incredible and interesting animals. This is the type of experience you might not get at another zoo or aquarium. I enjoyed seeing the meerkats, seals🦭 , penguins 🐧, and ants 🐜. St. Andrews Aquarium is a family owned operation since 1999 and the owners are extremely friendly as I have talked to them on several occasions. At the time of our visit, prices were £11, but are now £12 for adults and £10 for children. If you want a different experience and one that you will not forget, I highly recommend visiting this attraction.

Fantastic visit to St Andrew's Aquarium.  We were not disappointed! So much to see. Well worth the entry price.  It is not Sea Life and is smaller but the variety of sea life, animals, reptiles insects and more was totally amazing. We booked the penguin feeding experience for our 8 year old grandson and he loved it! The keeper was so knowledgeable and made it very special for him.  Super friendly staff and well cared for animals.. Would highly recommend 👍👍

Wee day trip to St Andrews. My friend pre-booked the aquarium as rain was forecast for the afternoon. We spent hours in here! It was great. Such a wide variety of animals and we were lucky to catch the seals and penguins out. The baby stingrays were super cute!

Nice place. Excellent for children. Right toilets. The animal collection, not big but in perfect conditions. Gift shop prices are too high.

Brilliant afternoon out for the young and old alike. Kept my 3 year old grandson entertained the whole time, staff really helpful, and so much to see. Watched the Seals being fed, and enjoyed the talk on them, the went to observe the Meerkats being fed. Parking is plentiful and is a short walk away. Omg what a location too, right on the edge of the sea. Beautiful 😍

We really enjoyed the aquarium. Came with a 3&2 year old. Lots of different fish species. With meerkat and monkey. We managed to watch the seals getting fed. We were gonna watch the monkey and the meerkat being fed but there was a school class visiting that was a little too much for my little ones. All the exhibits were very well maintained and clean. It was a bit pricey as didn't take a huge amount of time to go around but that being said you could come and go for the day. All the staff were super helpful and polite. My only advice if you have little ones in prams you are better babywearing them as the building is old and doesn't have very good access. But a great day out.

Nice small but clean and tidy aquarium with a good range of exotic sea life, as well as seals, Meerkats and Marmosets. Interesting talk at the seal feeding to learn about the 4 seals there and how they came up have them, and it was great to see the new family of Meerkats with their few week old babies.

  • 4/5 Esther A. 7 months ago on Google
Fabulous place to visit, although because of the location and age of the building there are lots of stairs to negotiate. Thankfully that wasn't a problem for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit again. Animals all very healthy and clearly well cared- for by friendly and knowledge staff who are always happy to answer any questions. There are also lots of very informative display boards about the animals which help to raise awareness in particular about ocean plastics pollution. This is a great place to bring kids, but please don't complain about the ticket prices - it's an independent family business, not part of a chain, and your ticket is a day pass, so you can come and go as you please all day. Money well spent, in our book!

It was lovely but not really suitable if you have any mobility issues. My elderly mum found it difficult as there are a lot of steps. However staff are very friendly and I enjoyed the experience.

  • 5/5 Vicky D. 8 months ago on Google
We spent 2 hours here and went round 3 times! Bigger inside than it looks from the outside and the entrance with the fossil walls really drew the kids in. We bought tickets in advance but couldn't find a parking space next to the aquarium so we parked in a free carpark further up the road at Petheram Bridge that had loads of spaces and walked back. The favourites of the day were the snapping turtle, the seals who put on a real show of 'burping' for us lol, the penguins, the baby meerkat, the caymans, the poison dart frogs, the piranah, the octopus, nemo & dory and the lionfish. We caught all the feeding talks of the day and the kids all bought a souvenir and an ice cream on the way out.

There are two floors with lots of kinds of fish, but also arachnids, a caiman, penguins, a chameleon, and more. We were there for 55 minutes and saw it all; then had lunch in their cafe. Witnessed feeding time with a worker explaining stuff well. Topped expectations being it's not a big city.

Great variety of animals and fish. Clean, well set out and informative. Family ticket eligibility needs to be rethought... There is no 'normal family' these days and we were made to wait while the receptionist went away to discuss our request to buy one. It added a negative to our visit. Would still return but would buy ticket in advance.

Great experience in St Andrews for everyone who likes nature and animals. Feeding seals that I have seen very nice, and I hated and loved the always hungry seagulls. 😉 Very good spent time for families or anybody.

Lovely attraction, not big but perfect for young children, with enough to keep them occupied. Best for those who are walking or in a baby carrier as not buggy or wheelchair friendly (set over several levels with no lift due to age of building). Lovely friendly staff from reception to the animal keepers who explained about the animals really well. Really appreciated the all day ticket: you can leave and come back in later in the day, which we did.

St. Andrews Aquarium was a lovely experience. A lot more animals than I expected, along with really interesting information for each and every one of them!

Nice place to go to take kids out for the day. Bit on the small side but inside is full animals. Great to see the fish and how they live etc, the marmosets have got to be the cutest thing going! Totally adorable, one of them came up for a selfie!

Great attraction. I took my service user there today and he really enjoyed it. I was wonderful to see the different species of fish, penguins and seals. I also felt a real connection with nature there as I saw the display on how we can protect our oceans from plastic which is a subject close to my heart as I am also a member of Greenpeace and have been active in shopping over fishing , plastic pollution and pollution from the oil and gas industry. Thanks for an educational and exciting time. I hope that you are able to continue the good work in protecting these species.

What a fantastic aquarium! Large in size and a fantastic array and variety of fish, seals, penguins, as well a a monkey display, Meerkats and more!! Staff were friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful attraction for the family and my little boy enjoyed every moment of it! Good weather helped as we got to enjoy St Andrews afterwards

Amazing experience! Well managed and staff are more than happy to tell you about the animals if you ask.

So lovely to be back at the aquarium after 2 years of the pandemic! My baby twins are now old enough to walk around on their own and they got so much more out of the experience at the age of 2yo, although it was still great for them as babies. They loved the sharks and the crocodile the best, but enjoyed the seal and meerkat feedings too. Minor shame the cafe was closed and that there's only one toilet halfway down the stairs at the start (makes it a little trickier with little ones). The staff are really, really supportive though of any help you might need with babies and buggies!

Family of five here, two adults and three children (8, 6 & 4) - wouldn't recommend. £52.00 for entry and we were completely finished in 23 minutes, £2.50 per minute. Great location, and could be great but feel completely ripped off. Children were really excited to go too, and did enjoy it, but really not enough there to justify the price in my opinion. To be fair, I think they know this as the guy who let us in said we could go round as many times as we want but not required. There were feedings etc on but we landed in a two hour hap between them and there was nothing to stay for.

  • 5/5 Hope B. 2 years ago on Google
A beautiful aquarium with lots of variety! Initially thought it was a wee bit pricey for the child’s ticket, but the amount you can see there really makes up for it. Our ticket lasted the whole day which meant we came and went 3 times! Visiting in between other adventures to see the various animal feeding times. It really was a lovely experience.
