What a fantastic pub. With a wonderful atmosphere. Michelle behind the bar was excellent. There is a wide selection of beers and the food is excellent. We came here with the whole family and had a great time. Very welcoming. We will definitely be back.

This was a real surprise for us...visiting The George Staples that was recently renovated turned out to be a great find. Beautifully redone inside and with an extensive food menu, this is well worth a visit. They are great supporters of real ale and cider and at the time of writing this review had 5 real ales on and around 7 different ciders. It's also worth noting they are great with kids and are a dog friendly pub. Very impressed with the staff overall and we're lovely, helpful people. Thanks to the whole team for such a great visit.

Wow, so so pleased with this pub, we’ve never been before but needed a pub close to my mum’s care home and not too far from where dad lives, found it online this morning, checked they allowed dogs and then good to go. Absolutely wonderful service from one of the managers ‘Regan’, she was so very kind, caring and understanding to the situation we were in with both parents having health issues. She made certain we were happy and everything we needed. Our waiter Matty was wonderful, such a kind and pleasant manner, took time to speak to mum and noticed she had left her walking stick. Both Regan and Matty were so kind, taking both parents can be a challenging situation and they really made our lunch out special. The food was absolutely delicious, we had a lot of the small plates and set it up on the table like a buffet, it was perfect.

Went here for christmas day dinner was good. Bit disorganised when we first arrived but comfortable and a big table, the food was good except all our party's vegetables were hard. We would try there on a lunchtime one day.....

Christmas fun! Absolutely superb breakfast with Santa this morning. Staff were so lovely, couldn't do enough to help. The santa was excellent, we had one to one time with him and must have chatted for about 15 minutes and not rushed at all. Best Santa ever! Food was excellent, drinks were great. Goody bags and reindeer food were magical. Highly recommend and will definitely do again next year. 👌

Lovely place to have a drink and eat, Katsu chicken was delicious, our food was served by sonny and Frankie who were on the floor. Big shout out to the rest of the team always smiling and making it a good and funny atmosphere!

For a quick visit.. Turned to a whole evening. . What a wonderful place . The food is fabulous and the staff are amazing.. So much so, we stayed for hours IT felt like we had our very own hostess. For our time there. Francesca brightened up our entire visit . Can't wait to return .

Super experience from start to finish. Wonderful atmosphere. The staff were so attentive and genuine. 5 star service. The food was immaculate and the decor was beautiful . Couldn’t fault this place. I moved to Blackfen in 2008 and have been a customer here on and off ever since. I must say in the past when this place was under different management and staff there were times when I avoided it mainly due to poor service and long waiting times for drinks. I have found that now and probably for about the last year this pub has improved ten fold. The staff are friendly, the food is great value for money and the pub has a generally good feel to it. Well done to the management and staff

A vast pub with lots of space and nice big tables for family dining. Huge and delicious portions, Sunday roasts were yummy too. Busy sports pub with lots of screens showing various sports but the service and hospitality from all staff (especially Michelle) was excellent and the atmosphere was great for family dining (we had a toddler in tow) . Looking forward to returning for more special nights and dining.

Came in for lunch and had a game of pool, had a couple drinks excellent service by sonny and kel. Great prices of drink and food. Parking is cheap and get money back off your drinks.

First time visiting this pub and I was extremely impressed with the vegan options on the menu, as well as the extensive list of deals available too. I had the plant based burger and it was absolutely delicious, the lady who served us, Michelle, was also an absolute star!! Would definitely recommend!

Popped in for food with my two kids. Whilst waiting there was an Easter egg hunt where you find 15 numbers and a golden number. They had great fun finding, after some nice food and got their pic on the website. Michelle and the bar staff were also very friendly. Nice end to the Bank Holiday and yet more chocolate. Happy days

I was served by Kelly who couldn’t do enough for us. So friendly and made our visit absolutely fantastic. Will be recommending to my family and friends. Food was absolutely fabulous and even met your lovely chef Lynsey due to having a allergy she came and spoke to us personally keep up the fabulous service

Had a lot of fun with my friends. The Pub was well decorated and well managed. Sonny was very attentive and very kind. Would suggest everyone to go and have some quality time in the Pub.

I have been here before and had some good food. Atmosphere has never been buzzing in here. Staff seem nice and friendly and helpful. However today I come to visit and told the car park is closed no entry. So I have to park elsewhere. Then get to the gate to be told my ID needs to be scanned to enter. Whilst I'm happy to show my ID I do not want it going onto a database and nor do I see the point if I am coming to eat food and not drink alchol. I think the idea is very archaic. The pub was empty and for a Saturday night I'd have thought could do with some visitors but if everyone has to show id or have it scanned then that's a no go. It's not a club...

Food was inedible. Manager made it perfect clear we weren't welcome and kept informing us that the chlorine had to be gone by 8pm. A fact that I'm perfectly Aware of. This ised to be a really nice family friendly pub. Sadly now the management just seem to want club nights and drunken teenagers dead set on fighting

Come here with my daughter and husband for lunch. The service was lovely and staff were very polite. Becks and dawn were the staff who serviced us and I can say they definitely made us feel very welcome. Calm and relaxing atmosphere. Food was out of this world, definitely Recommend the mixed grill. Will definitely be coming here again 10/10 from us

George Staples is the perfect mix between pub and club with a DJ set from 9-1am with great music and good prices. The atmosphere is great with good lighting and screens throughout the venue. There is plenty of space and lots of places to order from the bar. Shout out to Liam, lovely bartender serving with confidence and flair.

Great pub; really mixed crowd over the day; from families grabbing a meal; and older blokes grabbing an afternoon pint; then saw the post work drinkers and a younger evening crowd descending. Really good vibe inthe pub; wide range of beers and ciders; decent top shelf and the food and snacks are similarly top notch. We'll worth a visit if you're in the area

If I could give 0 stars I would! Always considered this place to be a decent enough pub to have a drink in whilst watching football, however! Attended on 10/12/22 to watch England v France world cup match, booked a table to ensure we had a good view, was surprised to be asked to pay a deposit, but was assured that it was redeemable against food and drink (which was confirmed by email), so I paid it (£20). On the day I asked a staff member how I could redeem it only to be told it wasn't a deposit, it was an entry fee! I argued about this and showed them the confirmation email. Despite this I got nowhere so I decided to return the following day when it was quieter. I had the same argument with the duty manager, no one seemed to understand that they were in breach of contract. I then decided to contact Customer Services by email and got a response which l can only describe as being written by someone who had clearly failed their English GCSE! They just repeated the line that they were entitled to charge an entry fee, ignoring the fact that their website made no mention of an entry fee, and that I had confirmation in writing that the deposit was redeemable! I also noticed that on the night they increased the price of drinks above what they would normally charge - their response was that the prices were set by head office! I won't be returning, what an awful, sneaky, underhand business model!

Came from South London to visit my granddaughter and as this place was her local we decided to give it a try. We ordered from the app as per instructions inside booth 60..waited for 25 minutes still no drinks...went to the bar and was told to get in the queue and not to use the app !!!!! There was a pile of tickets that not one member of staff had looked at...obviously mine was amongst them...15 minutes later when I eventually got to the front of the queue I was told there was no food..kitchen closed as they had a large booking and only one chef...maybe taking the menus off the tables would have been a good idea. . Maybe putting more than one chef in the kitchen on a Sunday would have been a good idea..maybe putting more staff on the rota would have been a good idea..maybe getting new management would be a good idea...or at least someone to do the rota correctly....just a suggestion...anyway will definitely not be coming back...first impressions mean a lot...and in this case it was zero impression... no food.. not a good look..

Had a couple of meals at the staples recently and thoroughly enjoyed it! Waiting time for food wasn’t long at all and staff were nice. Went in this afternoon, Mother’s Day, with not much expectation of being able to get a table, let alone eat but managed to do both and the two ladies serving our table were lovely. Food was lovely too. Deffo be back!

Not a bad bar & food place, food is quite pricey but great quality & size ratio. Has been incidents over the weekend of fights & arrests. As I live quite close to the George staples. Doesn’t also seem to be as busy anymore in there. It now has beer sheds in the front garden & security at the front over the weekends.

One of the best places to go for a night out. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Max behind the bar is so nice. And the drink selection is amazing. I would recommend this place to my friends and will 100% come back

I love this pub, I like to pop in after work during the week for a couple of pints and some wings and it's perfect for that. The wings were lovely and came out pretty quickly and the pints were cold and very reasonably priced. The staff were super friendly too I couldn't fault my visits recently

Been to the George Staples two or three times now and every time Alice has always been a standout member of the team - she does an amazing job and really works hard to give customers a great experience! She is extremely attentive, polite, and knowledgeable and is clearly a great asset to the George Staples team. Food is pretty good, and I was pleasantly surprised by the allergy-friendly options there (gluten free, veggie/vegan). I enjoy the live music they have sometimes as well. Though, as someone who has previously worked in the restaurant industry, it does seem at times that the managers are not engaged in the business the way the servers are. Overall, really nice pub!

This is the 4th time we have eaten at the George Staples. The food is amazingly cooked, thoroughly recommend the steaks, light bites are so good too. The staff are friendly, food is reasonably priced and the quality is fantastic. They also change the menus depending on the season. The pub layout is really nice and it has a very inviting and friendly atmosphere The only negative things I can say is the security guard presence inside the pub is a bit off putting and they can appear rude and intimidating and the pool table is too close to the wall, but that is just nit picking!!! Will return frequently, especially as its my daughters favourite place to eat.

I’ve been living in the area for several years but has never been to the George Staples until this weekend. It’s an interesting pub with an unusual choice in live music (although anyone who doesn’t like Rocky Horror is lying!) The service is great and all the bartenders were really lovely (especially the tall skinny one - Alice I think?) My only complaint is the range of ciders on offer but other than that a great night out!
