Amazing dog friendly beach. Dogs can run free on the beach for miles on end and fresh water is provided next to the lifeguard hut. I would've given 5 stars but there are no shops on the doggy beach for neither something to eat nor drinks. You definitely have to visit this gem in Norfolk if you own a dog or more, but make sure you bring snacks and drink.

WOW, this is a great beach. Its a little walk if you park in the car parks at the shops but their is a car park next to the beach if thats what you've come for. but it's well worth a visit. Very clean and the sand is so soft. A nice cafe before you enter the beach selling all what you need.

Beautiful beach and very clean, this beach is definitely the jewel in the crown of Norfolk beaches. Get there early as the car park fills up very quickly. The cafe near the car park is very dog friendly and sells good quality food at reasonable prices. The beach has a lovely backdrop of sandbank’s and pine trees. The water is very clean and if your lucky you will spot a seal or 2. We rented a beach hut with tea and coffee making facilities it wasn’t expensive around £50 for the day which was great for the family.

Fantastic big beach with a lot of gorgeous beach huts. Be mindful to head for the short stay car park via the town centre if there are spaces as the long stay car park is a bit of a detour and a long walk (or £1.80 bus ride) to the beach itself. The dog section begins a bit further into the beach (they're not allowed at the main entrance by the RNLI building) but there are signs telling you where to go (there are stairs to get to the dog section but they are very well maintained)

Lovely beach with fantastically soft sand. A little micro style train runs from the beach to the playground in Wells. Plenty of car parking space with a cafe/restaurant and public toilets.

A nice beach, well maintained. Separate beach area for dogs. Great for a walk and exercising your pooch. Parking is nearby (£3.50 for 2 hrs, £10 all day).

So my first time here, and while the beach is quite striking in its size, that’s it. What does stand out is that the sea was miles out! There’s also loads of signs for ‘no dogs’, yet still idiots have dogs on the beach and the vast majority are not even on leads. I’m sure someone will step in a mix of dog poo and sand at some point! The beach in my experience isn’t the best I’ve ever been too. The beach huts are cool, but nothing compared to the likes of Avon Beach in Hampshire. Would I go back to the beach again? No. Would I recommend it. Probably not. Never mind. Opinions vary.

Lovely sand beach ⛱ quite wide plenty space for everyone and perfect place to build a sand castle or keep the kids busy 😀 Dogs are allowed only on one side but further away were the beach is wilder is plenty space for them to tun freely. Unfortunately there isn't anywhere close to the beach to buy a cold drink or a snack..for that you will have to walk back at the car park

Despite it being cloudy, wells beach is a lovely sand beach. On our visit there was a seal sunbathing! Being mindful however it's a good walk to the town centre. To park get there early to avoid disappointment. There are toilets and a cafe next to the beach, but if you find yourself a distance away, you might get caught short. Very safe beach, with lots of guidance and signs for safety. Boats sail through regularly. Nice day out

A beautiful Beach with miles of sand and sand dunes. Lovely woodland walks and the beautiful beach huts. No matter what day, season or what the tide is doing, its always a lovely place for a walk. Plus there is the lovely beach cafe.

Fantastic beach, shallow water so great for kids. Sand castle building and ice creams. Car park close to the beach is reasonable and there is a nice cafe for when you come off the beach. Might see seals as well if you are lucky. Worth buying a crabbing net as there are lots all around the coast, hours of fun.

Fantastic day out with all the family. Worth a visit, the beaches and little coffee shop is really nice! 🩴⛱️🦀🐚

  • 5/5 Tina D. 8 months ago on Google
Lovely area with plenty to do and see. A pretty quay with seaside shops, eateries etc and lots of crabbing going on. You can walk from here (if you're feeling energetic) or drive to the beach, or visit the beautiful expansive dog friendly beach hut lined sandy beach, after a short walk through pine wood. A tip for the less mobile, don't take the first or second steps up to the beach, take the next which is a ramp, with handy toilets right there. My dog loved playing in the sand pools as the tide was way out on our visit. Handy cafe right by the car park, albeit a tad expensive. But hey, to be expected on holiday. Everything well organised. Well worth a visit

We came in early august and luckily we got up early so could easily park in the big beach car park. It’s quite a steep hill (or steps) up to the top of the embankment, from where you go down to the beech - tricky for those who might struggle with walking. There are toilets and a cafe by the car park, which is handy. The ticket machines for the car park were very slow in operation and failed to work properly - so much so that the operators had to come out with handheld machines. The beach itself is huge at low tide - loads of room to spread out and play games. Warning - there’s a VERY loud siren that goes off when the tide is coming in. If you’re near it (as we were) when it goes off, watch out if you have sensitive hearing! 🤪

Fantastic beach, Our 2 dogs loved the shallow slope going into the sea. Town is very quaint with lovely views of the harbour and quirky little shops and great fish and chips.

  • 4/5 Andy J. 9 months ago on Google
Great to see some dedicated no-dog areas where you can let the kids play without being menaced by some chav's pit-bull! Unfortunately this is probably the least desirable part of the beach due to the estuary mud, but still much better than the canine melee of many beaches.

Amazing location with absolutely massive beach. Car park while a bit pricey, is very handy and the cafe is excellent (especially the bacon bap!)

Absolutely a must visit, clean, dog friendly and amazing location boarding the pine wood. Walk down the beach and back through the woods two days out in one ! Great parking, toilets and a cafe

Get ready to walk 1 and half mile to arrive at the beach. If you don’t find a parking space at the nearest parking you can take a bus and pay £2 per ticket. It is a fast trip, about 5 min only. But it is a nice beach specially for children

  • 5/5 Juan C. 7 months ago on Google
I've been going here since I was a young child and I'm now fortunate enough to take my own children here. The beach is excellent although serious attention must be paid to the tides, which move very quickly due to the shallow beaches. Unfortunately the train has now gone, which is a real shame but the walk back into town is nice anyway. Some decent fish and chips are available, along with some other traditional British seaside attractions. Wells is a good base for loads of other attractions nearby and would recommend.

Amazing beach, well worth walking to the section beyond the beach huts - was like being in the Caribbean. For those unable to walk too far, I recommend trying to park in the beach car park, not the town one.

  • 5/5 Steve R. 7 months ago on Google
Lovely long beach with quaint beach huts... The sea can be a very distant view at times.... No dogs allowed on a large proportion of beach... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Lovely forested area to the rear which leads to the main path back to the car park...

Visited for the day. Oh never disappoints. Beautiful big sky's weather kind the day we visited. Many people enjoying walks with their dogs. Just perfect to think and reflect. So lucky to have this amazing place.

Yes. Just yes. My children love the sand, making pictures with the pebbles, looking for the small fish and looking out for seals. Time easily slips away at this beautiful beach. The nearest car park is expensive (card and cash accepted) but ensure you keep an eye on the time! I was 3 minutes over and got a parking ticket in the post a few weeks later. Gutted, but I've learned that £10 for 4 hours isn't enough. There are plenty of fish and chips, nice pubs and restaurants, shops, gift and sweet shops. Crab fishing, walks, camping and a caravan site RIGHT down the hill from the beach. It's beautiful. Family and friend favourite ❤ Thank you so much to my friend who took me here!

Been for a nice walk on the beach with the dogs today. Parked in the car park which took card payment and was £3.50 for two hours. To get to the dog friendly part of the beach don’t head towards the lifeboat station, instead go the opposite way to the west side of the car park and through a small wooded area, this then leads to the beach, up and then down some steps. Once at the beach turn left for the dog friendly area (well sign posted). We then walked for about an hour and ended up at Holkham beach (been here on a previous holiday) we then turned around and headed back. The beach is big and I can imagine in the summer, gets very busy, especially with all the beach huts available, but because of the size, I’m guessing a little walk from the crowded area and you could have a lovely quiet area. When we came (November) it was just people walking their dogs on the beach. The car park had a cafe (didn’t use so can’t comment) and free toilets which were nice and clean. A good dog friendly beach and worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Richard T. 7 months ago on Google
Beautiful beach, which stretches right up to Holkham and beyond. You can either walk from town (or use the bus shuttle service. Or park near the beach, but it fills up quickly.

This is absolutely beautiful! There is a large carpark but I expect this does get very busy and by lunch it was full! We went to the dog part of the beach and there are quite a few steps to that area. Our dog is old and can't walk far so we do have a pram for her. We would have no chance up the steps so we did cut across the normal part of the beach. The beach is clean, nice and sandy. It was great to see lifeguards stationed on the beach also and some always down by the water where people were swimming. be aware that the water is not as calm as it looks. The current is really really strong at times.

Stunning beach, well worth a visit. The beach cafe and staff is perfect for a well earned cuppa and a cake

Great little fishing town by the sea, harbour, huge beach in walking distance, parking is a little pricey, selection of fish & chip shops, pubs, ice cream shops.

There can be no better place to be than Wells next the Sea and the big skies and fabulous sunsets always amaze me. Couple that with hundreds of geese flying overhead on a clear and bright November afternoon incredible.

Beautiful Place in the UK with plenty of parking and miles of beach. The beach huts are worth hiring if you’re planning a day on the sand and the local cafe and ice cream place is worth a visit. Couple of tips. Don’t fly your drone! Don’t forget to pay for parking and take your rubbish off the beach. Plenty of bins provided.

The beach is nice but if the car park is full, it's a long walk down in the heat. Ice creams are £5 🤯 and there was no swimming allowed due to 'water quality' (read: probable sewage dumping). Great sand for sandcastles, mind.

Beautiful beach, soft sand, lovely beach huts. Popular though! Car park is well set out. There are newly installed wooden stairs to get to the beach from the carpark. Lots of signs to say the tide comes in fast, and goes a long way out, warning you not to get caught out. P.S. the sun does not rise or set on this beach.

Lovely beach, manned well with the lifeguard stations. Clean and although busy, didn't feel overcrowded. The buses running from the beach to the town car park was super helpful with 2 tired children, and lovely driver. Still as nice as it was when we used to visit nearly 30 years ago

The beach at Wells next the Sea is a vast space. If the tide is out there's a great expanse of sand to traverse and enjoy. There are lots of interesting seashells scattered across the beach. Would definitely visit again if in the area. There's also lots of parking and some food/drink amenities near the beach.

  • 5/5 Andrea B. 10 months ago on Google
Easy parking reasonable prices. Nice walks either on beach or through woodland behind beach. Was there when tide was out so was able to see seals resting on sand banks.

Had a lovely walk along the path around the harbour. Beautiful sandy beach with Old fashioned beach huts. You need to take notice of the safety signs if swimming or paddling. Lovely café near the car park too!

  • 5/5 Mark H. 1 year ago on Google
A more beautiful stretch of sandy beach it would be hard to find. You can take your dog here and enjoy the sea and sky. Popular but not crowded especially as you walk away from Wells towards Holkam bay. The Beach Cafe at the Wells end makes a good stopping off point after a circular walk.

Fantastic beach, really nice place. The sea food is amazing. The only thing I don’t understand is: Norfolk is massive and surrounded by beaches. Why is this place really busy? There are times that you can walk on the street without hitting someone.

Wow what a beautiful beach, one of the best I've been on including any abroad!! Spent the best part of the day playing in the sand and sea with my grandson we even rented a beach hut through the Happy Huts, which I would definitely recommend doing, what a perfect way to spend a day on your holidays 😀

  • 4/5 Michael W. 9 months ago on Google
Very nice beach, but you do need to be mobile, as it can be a long walk if you want to see the sea, depending on where you park and time of day in relation to the tide. The town is well worth a walk around with some quaint shops to visit and a couple of good pubs.

  • 1/5 The D. 2 years ago on Google
I think we must have gone a different place than most of the reviews, we found it very unfriendly for dogs, there were 'No Dogs Allowed' on the '3' beaches next to the car park, there was a dog area some way off in the distance but NOT on a beach, this is in Winter season? I just thought you would have been glad of people visiting to keep the Cafe open, which did have good coffee and sausage rolls. Very bad experience and will not be visiting again. 1 star is being VERY generous.

  • 5/5 Soph B. 10 months ago on Google
Beautiful large beach. The beach huts are lovely, definitely a photo opportunity. There are some no dog signs, which was sad to see people ignoring them. Loved seeing the seals which was rare but still something to remember.

A gorgeous Sandy beach in North Norfolk. Perfect for a family day out and dog friendly too! Plenty of parking with a decent cafe nearby selling all the usual treats, sweet and savoury. The clean toilets are always welcome too! Would recommend a trip here to anyone holidaying in the North Norfolk area!
