Beyond terrible. Not fit to call itself a Virgin active. Grimy and disgusting. Hair everywhere. The cleaner was too busy having a sauna to do any real cleaning. The Jacuzzi had brown sediment in it. It's like a public baths from 1985. Its incredible anyone pays the fees to go here.

Truly dreadful in every way. Firstly the service. The first time I went in I was openly mocked by those at the front desk. Since that day I've seen staff treat customers with genuine contempt or just ignore them. 50% of the team just don't seem to understand how to make customers feel welcome and help with queries. Truly staggering from such a big business. Secondly the changing facilities. Broken lockers, things out of order, showers smell and most if not all shower gell dispensers not working . Lastly the gym area, it's very very small. Lots of exposed wiring and lack of good kit. This club falls well below the standard I'd expect from the group. Would not recommend

The worst gym in the world. Disgusting showers. Dirty towels. Staff are too snobby, they donโ€™t have a clue about anything. Rubbish equipment. Everything is always broken. Costume dryer has been missing for more than 6 months. If you donโ€™t believe me have a look at the pictures or visit it yourself. Considering they market it as they premier branch and costing so much your better off with easygym at a quarter of the price and much more and better equipment and facilities. All their other basic branches are much better and can compete with David Lloydโ€™s.

There is nothing good about this gym! They charge as much as all the other virgin active locations but don't offer same quality at all! It's very dirty, walls are coming off, leaking pipes, pool is closed ever other day. I have even been thrown out of the gym at several occasions when I've been in the middle of my workout due to some issues they were/are having. And costumer service is as poor as it gets.

Facilities are not up to the minimum cleanliness standards that anyone might expect. Showers are filthy and mildewed with cheap plastic curtains. Frosted glass panels are worn through. Jacuzzi rarely works properly and looks like it has not been cleaned out for years. Lockers are always fully in use. Virgin say that they clear them out every day, yet they do not. Used the gym once in the morning and saw that they had allowed what appeared to be some homeless men in there to wash and clean. Admirable public service - but please do not expect me to pay ยฃ100 a month for that. Fitness machines are frequently out of service or not working to an acceptable standards. Staff are not at all helpful - no welcome pack, no training assistance, limited English. Very often you do not see any staff at all in the gym, which I think should be illegal.

Walking into the gym for the first time I was greeted by a friendly member of staff who helped me orientate myself. The gym offers three areas on the first floor (weight machines, some free weights and CV machines), a small stretching area and a studio for classes. In addition there is a small breakout area to get a coffee. The male changing rooms are in the basement where you will find a Jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room as well as the usual lockers and showers. Leading from the changing rooms you can enter the pool or the gym floor. When I walked into the gym I instantly noticed how small it is, it is by far the smallest virgin gym I've been to. I also instantly noticed the smell of stale sweat, then I saw the condensation running down the walls and the air vents of the CV area. Being a VERY small gym there isn't much in the way of equipment. There is no pull up bar for example. The weight machines are a little dated and the free weights have the feel of the 1990s about them. While this gym is really not up to scratch it is a tier 1 virgin gym and only costs ยฃ1 more a month than my previous tier 2 gym. That and the fact that it is right next to work make it almost worth it.

Tired, dirty and clearly managed by a pack of dullards this gym boils my blood more than any sauna would. It is a triumph in worn-out style over substance. Things break down and get a sign apologising for temporary inconvenience. However this can stretch to weeks....currently the pool has been closed for a week ! Why? Well there's a helpful sign up saying its due to the cold temperature of the water....ok then. Similarly the kit spinner that dries swim suits in the men's section....out of action - for how long? How long is a piece of rope? No one knows, and probably no-one cares either. It really is lazy flatulent state of affairs. The place is never clean. Lockers are gradually falling apart. By the way, when the pool is open Virgin likes to boost its income by giving copious swimming classes so that any normal punter has to enquire ahead about availability! Of course none of this info ever makes it the website - which might as well be hosted on netscape for all its worth . I don't blame the staff i blame Richard Branson - a man who greets his staff naked dressed in a robe - i am reliably informed. If this company is due to usurp the NHS in the years to come then we are going to the knackers yard its an omni-shambles. Richard put some clothes on and sort your sorry excuse for a gym chain out you are pathetic - you may be good at business but it seem s you couldn't give a flying donkey about your hard-working clients. Abysmal.

Not the best looking Virgin I've been to especially in the main breakout area, however the service is friendly, the pool is clean and a pleasure to swim in. Changing rooms are clean and you constantly see the cleaning staff. There is a Jacuzzi and sauna however not very pleasantly positioned in the same area as the shower facilities. One thing that really annoys me is the fact that there aren't enough water dispensers. I use the women's area and it has no dispenser. Best part of this Virgin is it provides endless amount of towels at no added extra cost. I gym close to my work so it means I don't even need a gym bag, with no towel gym clothing fits into my handbag.
