Absolutely amazing and solemn visiting Passchendaele in person. We were able to pick up shrapnel right from the field. A truly amazing monument to the men who sacrificed everything.

The largest of the Commonwealth war cemeteries, there's a quiet in the air here that marks the respect for the lives lost during the war. The gardens are beautiful and colourful and extremely well maintained. Walking through the rows of graves here and reading the names on the wall of the soldiers whose grave locations are unknown, is quite moving.

WW1 location of great significance and sacrifice. Finally conquering Passendale in the fall of 1917 by the Canadians, at such a tremendous cost of death, missing, wounded and other great sacrifices for all the attacking Allied Forces and defending Germans, to have the Allies decide to give up Passendale in the spring of 2018, when Germany made their last great offensive operation on the Western front, makes you reflect on the horrors of war.

These places need to be seen to be experienced, I can't sum up the feeling and the realisation you get when you visit in words. Just a thankyou to all those who sacrificed a lot.

Beautiful, peaceful memorial that recognizes the hardship and sacrifice of Canadians lost in The Great War.

For any Canadian wanting to visit European war memorials this is one that truly can give you and idea of where brave Canadians helped take back a part of the free world. This place to get to can stake you on several small roads so your GPS isn't wrong it just takes you in a round about way to finally get to the monument.

Phenomenal, words do not describe the depots of meaning this place has. You won’t be expecting how large or comprehensive it is

Also known as Hill 62. During the engagements against the enemy, the Canadians suffered 16 000 casualties. The Gate to Canada is the second one in the world. The other one is on the wharf in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
