Near an old coal mine that’s now an entertainment center is a three-level science center. For myself and my six-year-old daughter to go on a Tuesday afternoon in August, it cost around 500 CZK. Here’s our experience. 1) Entrance: There are a few things to go outside the entrance and the lobby has games, a cafe, and lockers. 2) Exhibits: The first floor has special exhibits. When we went, they had a recycling exhibit up. The second floor has these pods that have interactive stations around things like metal, electricity, animals, the body, etc. The third floor has more exhibits around disabilities and cars. Most exhibits are in Czech, English, and Polish. We spent a good hour seeing everything.

Things have changed here , now you pay and can only stay for an 1 hour and 20 minutes, that's not good at a tourist who visited this place many times over the past few years this sadly will come to an end . Amazing such a nice place how can we rush our children through a play area , and half the stuff isn't working e.g. water pump , light lamp bulb missing exposing live mains power in the enchanted forest , that can kill someone . Sad sad sad in summer we had about 3 hours approx to play , so now they have cut visiting times

We visited with my father, the exhibitions were just ok, many of the interactive machines were sadly out of order. The environment was badly air conditioned and it was very warm inside. The advertised checks for covid vaccinations never happened and many visitors did not use the protection - also the staff in the coffee shop didn't use mandatory face masks which was shocking, so avoid that place, at 16:30 they did not even have anything to eat and were very unfriendly. We were very disappointed, because this place has a lot of advertisements and we were looking forward to visit.

Second time have been here. This time to take my little one to the children's play area. Fantastic! Best we have ever been too! 👌✌️

Great place, but a large portion of exhibits were out of order. For that price, I can't accept that.

Amazing. Perfect for older kids and teenagers but also for adults. Very hands-on, very interesting. They talk a lot about ecology and sustainability and give tips what to do better in your home. Lots of attractions explain eg how electricity works. They even have a section on artificial intelligence and machine learning. We spent 2,5 hours here, but you can easily spend more time here. The ticket also includes entrance to the Gong gallery.

Absolutely fascinating place, kids 5 and 7 had an amazing time, many things for adults to discover as well. Excellent kids area available in separate timeslots. We spent there the entire day and could barely leave. Most of the exhibits are available in Czech, Polish and English, few things in Czech only. Very interactive and lively, surreal surroundings. Totally worth the visit.

Overall a great place, just a pity some expositions were closed.

We went to the section for the young children and it was absolutely fantastic. The 2 hour time slot gives your kids plenty of time to explore the exhibition

Pretty decent technology center situated in stunning old factory (?) of some sort. I've visited better, but this one is ok.

It is interactive and quite enjoyable for kids. Some parts (e.g. AI guessing what are you drawing) are more engaging than others, but in general it is worth seeing.

Great for curious school age kids, part of the place is dedicated to toddlers (Svět dětí), reserve a day for the visit. There are many interactive stations to explore, from human body to space.

For a place where clearly quite a lot of effort and budget has been spent, it's almost funny how mediocre this place is. Lots of non-working or nonsensical displays, with the occasional neat little things hidden amongst them. Not really worth the entry price.

My daughter and I enjoyed so much! We went to the Children’s world, my only complaint is that it was so hard for us to find that part, we were walking around for more than 30 minutes...

splendid! Czechs know how to resurrect a graveyard and have a profit from it. Nicely done!

Brilliant interactive science centre. Masses to do in a truly unique setting of this giant steel works. Separate kids discovery area also good. Spectavular site of the Colours of Ostrava annual July music Festival.

Science and Technology Center is located in Ostrava's district of Vítkovice, which used to be a brownfield and now is a breathtaking postindustrial area full of extraordinary and unique spots. The Center (in Czech language Velký Svět Techniky) is not a traditional museum, where you cannot touch the exhibits. Here, it's another way round. Please DO touch the exhibits. You are allowed to use various devices, apparatus and machinery to find out how things work. It's definitely a must see place for all science lovers (and not only!). The guides speak Czech, Polish and English.

Very interesting permanent exhibition, almoat every part is interactive. Can be exhaustive to walk around big area. Any kind of water fountains inside might be helpful for quite high temperature in the building.

What a great place! Located in the industrial part of Ostrava, giving the great flavour of the times when heavy industry was the key development area for many countries. Very nice buildings and industrial views. When it comes to museum, you can touch and play with almost anything: old cars, sewing machines, heavy equipment. Great place for kids and for families. Very very worth to see. Plan minimum 4 hours to spend here, kids will love it!

👍 Great for kids, in hot day there is air-condition. But i am not sure why parents need to pay entry fee.
