Church
of
St.
Mikuláše
is
one
of
the
oldest
preserved
monuments
of
Poruba.
Its
history
dates
back
to
the
15th
century;
at
that
time
he
provided
spiritual
services
to
the
municipalities
of
Poruba,
Vřesina,
Svinov
and
Třebovice.
The
original
Gothic
church
was
built
around
the
14th
century
by
Adam
from
Kornice.
In
1491,
an
independent
spiritual
administrator
is
mentioned
for
the
first
time,
but
his
name
is
not
known.
The
reconstruction,
which
was
inevitable,
began
in
1787.
The
entire
cross
wall
through
which
the
main
entrance
to
the
church
passed
had
to
be
removed,
and
deeper
foundations
had
to
be
dug.
The
vault
of
the
church
and
the
presbytery
were
rebuilt,
the
church
was
provided
with
a
new
roof.
The
interior
was
equipped
with
a
new
main
altar
and
two
side
altars,
a
new
organ
was
purchased.
The
church
was
completed
in
1795.
However,
the
tower
of
the
church
was
only
completed
in
1808.
The
cemetery
gate
and
the
cemetery
wall
were
also
not
spared
reconstruction,
and
a
new
staircase
to
the
main
door
of
the
church
was
also
built.
The
baroque
equipment
of
the
temple
was
replaced
by
a
new
one
at
the
end
of
the
19th
century.
In
1895,
new
side
altars
with
statues
of
Our
Lady
of
Lourdes
and
St.
Anthony
of
Padua,
a
year
later
a
new
main
altar
was
built
with
statues
of
St.
Nicholas
and
St.
Cyril
and
Methodius.
The
church
tower
was
in
a
very
bad
condition,
so
it
was
reconstructed
to
its
current
form
in
1909
and
fitted
with
a
new
clock.
The
interior
of
the
church
was
modified
in
the
spirit
of
the
renewed
liturgy
according
to
the
directives
of
II.
of
the
Vatican
Council
in
the
years
1970
–
1975.
At
that
time,
the
sacristy
on
the
north
side
of
the
church
was
also
added.
The
current
interior
is
after
the
reconstruction
from
2008
-
2010,
when
the
main
altar,
pulpit,
church
pews
were
replaced,
and
the
tabernacle
was
modified.
